A question for Nuramoc owners...

Unread post by Tulula »

Hi. So one of the main reasons for playing my hunter is to one day have Nuramoc by my side. Right now I have my trusty pal Maisy - a chimera from Winterspring, and I love her. I am cruising through Outlands now and will soon be moving into Netherstorm.

My question to you is this... what level should I be before attempting to (solo) tame Nuramoc? Do you have any tips or advice for me?

Thanks!

I tamed her at lvl 71 without a problem. Shes hard to frost trap because she flys and hits harder than your average beast, but with the gear you can get in northrend shes shouldn't kill you.

Lil, What does beast lore say about its armor rating?

Thanks Lil, I'll have to figure out NPC Scan and get ready for my search in a few levels.

If I could [server maitance blah] I'd get on my hunter toon that tamed Nura at lv 72ish as she doesn't have much northrend gear. But going from memory she had atleast 11k hp[ at the time. Maybe 12k. So you don't need to worry about gear aslong as you've atleast got that much health tbh.

So I decided on a whim to go look for Nuramoc, an dlo and behold he was there. Wow, he's not easy to catch. Chase him down, land, target, and he's out of range. Rinse, repeat, and hope no on eelse can tag him before you do. Well after about 5 harrowing minutes, I tamed him. I am now the proud owner of PeopleEater. Surprised how good his dps is. Been a while since I used a cunning pet. He's actually doing more dps at 75 than the lvl 77 condor from the ferocity tree he replaced.

Congrats! I am just about 60% through 70 now, but I am itching to go look for him.

My 6 Hunters (yes - I'm obsessed) have Nuramoc (now "Ultraviolet, "Uvie" (UV), "Haze" and others). Thottbot says he's a 69-70 -- but I've never seen it as a 69. I've always tamed it as soon as I hit 70 by gearing up with as much Stamina armor and food/drink as I could. I've never been successful with a freeze trap - seems to be immune unless that's been changed. The reason for Stamina-ing up is because he has a weapon - acid splash (that he does not keep upon taming) - that eats at your health along with the frost and lightning during the tame. Taming is the "easy" part. Finding him can be a chore because just killing him is an Achievement - and there are those that 'Farm the Silver Dragons' for OK+ loot. Word was, a couple years back, that he was on a 24-hour respawn. Don't know if that's still valid. I've never had a Taming interrupted - even with folks there seemingly for the entertainment! He's a gorgeous catch and delivers some decent DPS with good 'staying power' (armor + health).
>> A side benefit: Maybe I've just become too considerate (mundane?) a player in my <ahem> old age but I find core hounds and wind serpents etc. to be singularly unnecessary in banks and auction houses. OK. We're all so VERY impressed with your pet. With Nuramoc in your pocket you can (if you feel the inclination towards a little Tit-for-Tat to make a point) pull out what has to be one of - if not THE - most annoying close-by pets in the game. There is something to be said for that kind of annoyance (read: intimidation and obstruction of vision) in a PvP situation, though. <<

Good Hunting!

When I tamed mine, I was level 70 at the time. Spent hours looking for him when I should of been leveling, but I was just too impatient. I wanted him right away! <.< When I finally spotted him, he was in the worst spot possible. Flying over these rifts in the ground, with tons of warpstalkers invisibly patting around the area. By the time I caught up to him, I was trailing three or so stalkers and fell straight into one of the crevices. Nuramoc actually flew off the ground above me and I had to rush to keep up while being dazed by the hanger-ons. Definetly would of been better had I been a higher level, but I will say it is defiently possible to tame at a low level. Just try to avoid going through what I had to. :)

I was so torn between PeopleEater and Puff (the magic dragon) for my Nuramuc, I ended up with Puff. (now I have the purple people eater song in my head. ^^)
