who thinks we should be able to tame hydras?

I believe we should be able to tame Hydras!
they would be so darn cute :)
i don't see why blizz wont let us tame all beasts, instead of sectioning pets off.

I believe it will happen eventually ... after all, we need something to look forward to in future expansions.

No offense intended, but that is the silliest thing I have ever heard. Take a peek at the forums - the PTR ones in particular - and you'll see that Blizz most definitely DOES have an eye on us and what we want. Just because we don't have ONE thing we've asked for doesn't mean they don't care.

I was told the reason Hydras are not tameable yet is due to scaling/animation issues. The datamined skills and ghost hydras in game now say they're non-exotic ferocity pets, for the record. Give it time, but don't hold your breath.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Blizz knows we want hydras. And I honestly think that we WILL get them. But we're not the only class that WoW has. ;) Blizz certainly does listen to us.

Blizzard just released the fireland rares, not to mention the 25 stable spaces, no ammo, new pet skins, etc. all within the short time frame that Cataclysm has been out. I feel even greater things are sure to be revealed in time ... we just need to exercise a little patience in the meanwhile.

Hydras will come sometime soon. If not why would they bother setting up the hydra family and its family skill?
My ghost hydra is working perfectly so i dunno about the animation issue. I dont see anny on my hydra. Scaling i cant say annything about as i cant go and tame another one.
But from my experience with my own hydra i dont notice anny odd behaviour, glitches or other issues.
If there is anny issues its not with the vanilla model.

I saw a ghost hydra pet (i never had any lvl 80's when the bug was discovered and fixed) and it looked perfectly fine to me, did everything as just a smaller version of its original form, i cant really see how the scaling/animation would make them hard to introduce as pets, they would of taken hydras from the hunters who tamed one if they thought it was too bugged out for them to have. Im sure as well that everyone who tamed a hydra saw no complications during the shrinking process... engineers can turn things miniature (im not an engineer myself so i dont know what items and what classification of type (beast, humanoid, undead, etc.) can be shrunk, i just know they can build things that shrink mobs) so that, if an engineer were to shrink a hydra, that should prove whether they have any scaling and animation issues when they are tiny, and they will most probably be more tiny then a hunters pet with the lesser proportion glyph. Anything thats as tiny as a gnome with a noggenfogger drink is going to look really messed up because thats ungodly tiny.. there are bugs Blizz doesnt pick up on till they see it live but they usually get all the bases covered for how a mob reacts to player interaction.

And if anyone from back when the hydra thing first popped up remembers my posts in threads talking about them, this post is a HUGE change of direction as i was extremely against hydras as pets and i went on for a good while talking about the scaling and animation issues because hydras in their original wild size are so large but i have seen it in person after all this time, holding onto my negative thought of what WoW would be like with hydra pets and now i really, really, really want one so friggin bad

I'd have to dig through my folders to find the exact words - and I'm not sure how much of this I should be sharing, really - but it was, if I remember correctly, because scaling them down caused them to look absurd while they ran around with two stubby legs and that their attacking animations weren't quite up to par - they wanted to get new animations for them first but there are, obviously, a lot of other things that need doing.

Playing a hunter since launch I would have to disagree with that statement very strongly! :x

I don't think any other class has had the treatment we have had and especially as of late. What other game gives you so many pet options or the ability to tame soooooo many pets?...exactly! :ugeek:

Yea, since they introduced spirit beasts and well.. exotics in general they've constantly been giving us pets that have been progressively added to the families that already existed and all the new families they gave us all at once with the exotic talent :3 Though tbh id gladly love to give back several of the new beasts if it means i could tame a hydra lol

Yup. Hunters have gotten a lot of positive attention lately. We still have some issues, but then that's true for every class. I think we've got it better now than we ever have.

i dont buy the first statement as it moves and looks much better than the warpstalkers hyper zigzag run. at least the vanilla model. cant speack for the bc ones.
Attacking animations. well its one or two animations, but lots of other pets only have one or two aswell. It hits with its heads. what else can it do.
Well i see that they may want to animate the jaws better. i do think it bites while attacking but i havent looked that closely.
Im for extra animations on em sure, but this is something that could be implied at anny moment in anny patch, so they dont HAVE to hold hydras back.

But anyway, im sure they will be released at some point. hopefully in the near future.
I understand the WoW team got lots of work on their hands, but spiffing up the hydras is nothing they absolutley HAVE to do before its release.

However i wonder if the ghost hydra will be available again when they do finaly become tameable.

As much as I want Hydras available for everyone, I am kinda hoping they dont make the ghost tamable again because I like mine being unique. <_< Not saying I would be pissed or anything if they did make it tamable XD Just would be cool to have my Shenanigans be so rare.

Exotic or not they should get a new ability. We already have 2 Ferocity pets with 5% crit, I'm fine with it being Ferocity but it needs a skill that is only found on Cunning pet, like Ravage (4% increased physical damage for 25 sec) or give them an AoE, I mean look at all those heads we could at least get 1 attack spread out among 3 targets, right?

^i would like to see its buff be something from the cunning tree like the ravage ability, we already have a pet that reduces armor and another one that increases bleed effects (raptor and hyena respectively)
