Swimming. I'm surprised he doesn't shock himself. Lightning and water do not mix:

Standing on a moonwell-type pedestal:

Sara and Fen:

Skoll is a really awesome looking pet, and he's the only spirit beast (besides Loque) that isn't transparent or ghostly. I adore the lightning constantly trailing all over his body. He is truly a unique pet. Far more unique than any other I've seen in game. He's excellent at holding aggro in pve and tearing out throats in pvp, as ferocity. He's also fairly easy to find now that the people on most servers are ganking Cata rares instead of lowbie rares. I found Skoll at least 4 times after taming him while doing the occasional flyby for the TLPD (totally casual, just check out of boredom once in awhile). Each time I was able to find an eager hunter wanting him, at level and even some 85 hunters. Skoll is still loved and wanted even with all the spirit kitties and sparkly owls.

Birdie in the water. Has usual majestic swim/flap animations. Second image is a top shot of Chuck in the water:

Chuck doing battle. He DOES make those annoying parrot screeching noises, I'm afraid. I keep my sound off most of the time, so I'm not at all bothered by it:

Chuck n' Sara sittin near a tree:

Overall, like all birds, great in pvp, not superb in pve. But he is so gorgeous. The best parrot model outside of Aotona in my opinion. Well worth a possible 70+ Deadmines runs. His screechy could be really annoying to some folks. If you keep sound on and it bothers you, stay away from any type of bird. =(

Would like to say I have ONE free stable slot (for now) so you can just roll me something random to tame if you want instead of one of these. King Krush sadly did not spawn for me yet, so I have an empty slot.

Brighter pic in Uldum, rather large, but displays great details:

Face-pic. Shows his rather evil looking teeth quite well:

Fight in the water with a serpent, and some pathetic swim animations:

Sara and Alex:

As with most of my pets, he's great and looks great. One of the best colored Devilsaurs out there. He holds aggro well and does great dps. Its a huge pity he's BM only. He would be an amazing dps pet for a MM or Surv hunter. His Terrifying Roar ability is awesome in raids, as it increases the entire raid's crit rating by 5% for 1 minute. An excellent ability to have a hunter cast when the raid leader calls for all dps to blow cooldowns. Having that extra 5% crit for the raid might just be what you need to bring a boss down quick. I do occasionally get called for my BM pets and their abilities, but it would be far greater if Devilsaurs weren't BM-only pets. Overall though, he's awesome and I <3 him.

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
The blue raptor can be found almost everywhere in Azeroth. The first one comes with level 16 in front of the Wailing Caverns dungeon, the next one is in the dungeon. I decided to tame Tethis, the named raptor from Stranglethorn, he's level 28.
So one rainy evening Nerdanel set out to find a new pet for her stables.
She had to run quite a while until she finally found a blue raptor sticking out among the purple ones and tried to tame him. But he called his friend and 2 angry raptors were trying to eat Nerdanel and jumping with their talons at her.
She persuaded the blue one to follow her and he came with her. Nerdanel named her new friend Twix, to match her parrot Snickers.
Appearance:
This is Twix from the front: he looks sleek and quite intimidating (at least for me, with this grim expression).
Twix is of a nice blue colour and his belly is a creamy white. Like almost every raptor (except the green one) he has these collars around his neck and feathers and bandages on his legs. His blue ranges from a light blue over waterlike to a very nice dark blue on his head. If he would not have the feathers and collars, he would have immediately become my favourite raptor skin, because I prefer the non-spikey versions to the outland skins. With his colour he fits in nicely to Nerdanel's blue/white/purple stable theme. I would have never thought about this skin myself, waiting for the spikey one from Zul'Drak and finding the purple one too much "Barbie-like".
Animations and sounds:
I think that almos every one had to fight raptors once in his toon's wow-life, Twix makes these typical raptor-noises, something between a screeching with a sore throat and a loud hissing (can't really describe it, but it's the same sound wild raptors make while hitting you). His sounds didn't bother me, I actually think they are quite cute. While running I couldn't hear a thing of him.
His idling animation is to click his talons on the ground and to open his maw and close it. Not very spectacular.
His swimming animation:
I think Twix likes swimming. He makes himself quite flat and moves with raptile-like grace, pushing himself forward with his legs. Sadly I wasn't able to take a pic of that (the pond in Og was too small), the one I posted is from idling in the water.
Fighting:
I took Twix to Zul'Farrak with Nerdanel. He is a ferocity pet so he provides nice dps for her. His special ability is to reduce the enemy's armor by tearing it apart. It's an ability warriors have (and I think feral druids have something similar, but I'm not sure), but sometimes don't use, so it's nice to take your raptor with you, if your group is missing someone to reduce the armor, because less armor means dead faster. Twix and Nerdanel were on the first place in the dps-meter, although they were the lowest level in the group and I think that Twix helped a lot. He was eager to run into battle, attacking the mobs by jumping at them with his legs and claws. It was nice to watch him fight, it seems like he has a lot of fun doing it.
Conclusion:
Twix is a very good pet. I absolutely adore his colour, it's fantastic. He did very good in the dungeon and was nice to look at. I don't see many raptors since their ability was changed (they used to add bleeding damage instead of reducing the armor) and I personally think I would like to have the old ability back (same thing with cats for me). But there is no point in wishing back the good old times.
Although I really came to appreciate Twix, I didn't really click with him. I haven't found "the" pet for Nerdanel yet and sadly Twix wasn't it. I love my parrot Snickers, but he's not the pet, too. I'm waiting for the purple cats from Winterspring. I wish Twix had no feathers, perhaps it would be better. I loved the green raptor, but he's not meant for her stable theme. I don't know if I keep Twix until Nerda reaches the level to tame a raptor from Zul'Drak or if I'll let him go.
edit:
I'd like to have a new roll, this time for my Alliance Hunter.

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
Looks:

Netherskates (the red nether ray) only live in one small section of Shadowmoon Valley and I believe they are all level 70. For a level 85 it's just a simple matter of flying over there, walking up to one, and taming it. I chose to name this guy Gummy because of the squishy nature of nether rays; he made me think of like gummy bears or gummy worms.
Anyway, this color of nether ray is surprisingly pretty. He's a nice, bright reddish color with dark purple colorations along his back and tail. His eyes are a light blue. I think my favorite thing about this particular nether ray is his belly, which is black with a glowing purple outline. One of the weirdest looking things about nether rays is their teeth. As you can see in the small, close up photo of Gummy's mouth, his first set of teeth appear to be "real" 3D teeth, but then he has extra ones painted on the inside of his mouth--I guess to make him look more ferocious or something. o_O Makes me think of a shark or something.
Animations, Sounds and Combat:

There's nothing real exciting about Gummy in turns of idling, or even running and swimming. While idle he just sits there and flaps (I call it squishing since that's what it looks like and they don't really have wings). While running (or flying, whatever you wish to call it) and swimming, he just sort of squishes along by your side, never really changing motions.
I couldn't really think of a good way to describe Gummy's combat sound so the text I wrote for this panel is about as close as I was able to get. It's a good, alienesque sounding noise and it's not too loud or obnoxious. Gummy has a couple of different attack animations; one where he whacks his target with his tail and one where he bites his target.
As cunning pets nether rays make good DPS pets (for those who raid as SV/MM, in some situations a cunning pet will provide more DPS than a ferocity one if you're not in need of providing specific buffs/debuffs). Their special ability is Nether Shock, which interrupts spell casting and locks out a spell school for two seconds. Nothing major but most certainly useful in both PvP and PvE situations. I would find one of these guys extremely handy on fights like Alysrazor where the add needs to be constantly interrupted--it never hurts to have an extra interrupt available for that fight, especially if you or another person accidentally misclicks theirs (I know I've done it). The only down side to Nether Shock is that the nether ray will cast it on cooldown meaning you will need to micro-manage this ability to get the best use from it.
Overall I really like Gummy's coloring, but I already have a moth I really like for Ruffley so Gummy did not end up staying with her. However, this skin happens to be the exact one I want on my baby hunter so he will be getting tamed in the future.

Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
The grey moth can only be found on Azurmyst Isle in the valley the Draenei start. So if you want to have this beauty as Horde you have to die your way inside (the guards are level 90 elite and you can't fly on the island). Luckily Alandria is a Nightelf and had no problems passing the guards. The moths are level 1 and so she had no problem with the tame either.
I named my moth Thelesia.
Appearance:
Thelesia has greyish white wings with dark grey spots. Her legs are black and her antennas, too. She has beautiful lavender eyes that give her a very nice touch of colour among the grey/white.
Her wings are in constant motion so it was rather difficult to get a non-blurry shot of her wings, but this one shows her quite well:
With her flapping wings she produces some kind of dust that surrounds her. It's like little white glitter around her and makes her the only pet with some kind of appearance "buff" (although it is none) to tame without any macros/friends/tricks.
What is kind of annoying with moths for me: they hover only inches above the ground. I had hoped that she would fly a little bit higher (like owls or a parrot does). As you can see in this picture, her legs almost touch the ground:
This also makes her appear smaller than she is. I'm waiting for my moth to grow up and see if she changes this behavior while growing (or I'll try it out on one of my max level hunters).
Her face is really cute with the lavender eyes (you have a perfect shot of her on the petopia side: http://www.wow-petopia.com/images/skin_ ... ingrey.jpg). She looks like she can't harm anyone, but Alandria made Thelesia her questing companion for Stranglethorn which leads us to her fighting abilities.
Fight:
Thelesia bites her target. I would have expected her to hit with her wings, but they appear so light and fragile, it probably is better if she bites instead. I couldn't get any nice shots in combat of her, she is always fluttering around and her wings always were in the way so you couldn't see her properly. Instead I decided to let her attack one of the wooden thingies (don't know how they are called) in Stormwind.
Not the best shot either, because she doesn't seem to hit the target but the air - but well, it has to be enough.
For such a fragile beauty she was fighting really well. She is a Ferocity pet (wouldn't have expected that), but that makes her dps quite good.
Her special ability is an interrupt. She uses it intelligent (only if the target is actually casting) so I let it on auto-cast. It made questing with her really nice, because I didn't get hit by some casts before she could get aggro or the mob was dead. Sadly this ability has one minute cooldown (same like the stun from the bats). It would be really good to have it every 30 seconds or so, but I understand that this would probably be too much for bg. I'm waiting for the beast mastery talent to reduce the cooldown

Animations and sounds:
As I already mentioned, Thelesia is in constant motion flapping her wings. This is it pretty much. I didn't notice any idle animations on her. While flapping around she makes soft noises. For me her sounds were not disturbing in any way. It fits this calm beauty to have calm sounds. For sending her into battle and fighting she does some sort of a purring sound (reminded me of a cat with a cold *lol*).
Her swimming animation is to do the same flapping animation only slower (same as birds, parrots, owls).
Conclusion:
Thelesia is a very pleasant companion. She is this kind of shy beauty you need to detect and hang out for a while with to be able to fully appreciate her. Her "boring" colours don't make her stand out, but I enjoyed having her at my side, because you don't see moths very often (I even can't remember seeing a single hunter with a moth after level 20somthing). I can't undestand it, she does good dps, her ability comes in handy in bg and if you have groups/bosses in dungeons you need to interrupt. If you take her interrupt of autocast and put it into a macro you can use it like you want (I don't know such a macro but I'm sure there is one, I heard of it, so if you know one, please tell me). I'm waiting for Alandria to level up to level 63 to tame one of the blue/yellow moths, I think they just match her better, but so long, Thelesia will keep her company. She's defenitly worth a closer look.
edit: wrong picture in the wrong place...
edit2: tamed a moth with my Tauren, who's 85, they still hover close to the ground

How are all of you?
Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
Look/sounds: The baige colour was very nice and the wings don't have any sound at all.
PvP: The interrupt was very useful and the damage output was regular.
Pve: The interrupt is also useful in PvE, but i found it less effetive than the cat's agy and str buff.
Leveling: Not the best pet, but fine if you don't have anything else.
Round 3:Please roll a pet for me again

Name :Javelin
LvL:85
Exotic:No
restriction:Monkeys ,Gorillas
Edit:Typos corrected, i wrote this in school at 7 in the morning with unstable net.
Re: Random Pet Challenge [v3.0]
Level: 56
Exotics: No (I'm Beast Master, but not high enough to get Exotics yet)
Restrictions: I currently have a blue fox, a tan mastiff dog, a wolf (in the wolf/coyote model), and an old world crab. So anything not those is welcome!
