My unexpected keeper!

Unread post by Kalhoun »

Every now and then, when bored, I'll fly around and tame things on a whim. Last night was one of those nights - I hunted down Snarler, then one of those wolves from Mulgore that bark when you click them, then a rhino and an eagle from Northrend. I ended up letting them all go, none of them were clicking.

Before I go any further, I have to share a strange phenomenon with you all - before my nine month break from the game, I absolutely despised all flying pets. I couldn't take the flapping. I thought I still had that problem, since I let my Ban'thalos go shortly after taming him. However, on another random taming night not too long ago I grabbed a condor from Loch Modan, and I actually really like his flying animations. I kept him, but I don't use him much. I did go see if I could tolerate dragonhawks, moths and windserpents now, but alas, they are still a no-go (sad, because I really like a lot of the wind serpents... but their constant flailing drives me nuts). I seem to like the birdie pets now, at least the condor models.

So anyways, last night I ended up in Icecrown, staring at those undead eagles up there. I grabbed one, and then ran around, watching him fly. He has a different way of flying than my condor (it looks like his wings bend more), but I still actually really like they way he moves. Watching him glide behind my motorcycle makes me happy for some unknown reason.

I named him Bones. He really is a neat looking thing. I love all the little details they put into his model. I usually don't go for the undead looking pets, but he's just so neato.

And I discovered something else about him - he sorta matches my transmog outfit. I finally got the polearm I've been wanting for it this morning (the Banner Slicer ), and upon equipping it I noticed the wrapped cloth around it matches Bones' bandages.

His "Snatch" ability is making me want to start PVPing again. I remember how surprising it was when I did a Tol Barad and had my gun snatched away from me!

Just an update - I PVPed with Bones all evening last night. Got enough honor for two pieces of gear. Had a lot of fun! I'm very new to PVP, but I think I just caught the bug.

I enjoy pvp on my hunter. So far it's just been regular bg's, haven't gotten into arenas yet but I plan to. I use my Strix (Olm the Wise) quite often because of Snatch. It basically disables a melee for the duration of the debuff.

You and bones look cute together. I think of all the diseased pets, not that I would ever tame one, the birds are the coolest. Seeing a human and an undead pet is very unexpected and that makes it cool!

I used to PVP in Vanilla, just doing WSG and AB as lvl 19 or 29. I did PVP a little on Kalhoun in Tol Barad to grind emblems for the dragon mount, and to buy the black war elekk, ram and horse. But other than that I haven't touched BGs in years. I don't even know what the ones beyond WSG and AB are! So I just stuck with what I know and queued for WSG over and over and over. XD I'll eventually work up enough courage to do the randoms.

I've really enjoyed the Snatch ability! I've made an effort to go after melee and other hunters. I have't seen anyone else hanging out in the cities with an undead eagle - I see a lot of seagulls (I was very tempted to get one myself, I love them) and white eagles. Bones matches my transmog set a lot more than he does my normal armor, so we look pretty mismatched. But I love him. He's neat.

In the first picture, it looks like he's trying to shield you from the rain with his wing, like an umbrella. :D

I'm personally not fond of undead or diseased pets, but somehow the eagle does look good with you. O.o
