I know what you mean. Students pay through the nose for a college education, not so that the school having received these obscene amounts of cash, can then dump its responsibilities (for things like grading), back onto the students themselves.

As a last ditch fallback when you feel your prof is an idiot, yeah sure bring in the peer review - but even then, that's a matter of damage control not so much a working policy.

Yeah. I asked the prof (still waiting for an email from the lab prof too though) about what happens in this situation, since it wouldn't really be fair for mine to not get averaged, but for everyone else to have theirs averaged. I was told that worse case they'd have a prof or TA do my 2nd review.. SO, not too bad. I understand WHY they did it this way. It's so that we can learn more about what does/doesn't make a good paper by actually doing the grading process ourselves. And it makes sense... However.. people that spend this much a year on their education only to not do the work I just don't get... Especially when it's not just your grade on the line :/

Also.. despite how broke I am.. I bought a pumpkin. Not really a rant.. But I bought it because of all this report BS. Was feeling severely anxious about it, and I had to calm down cause I still have 2 midterms to study for.. And the people selling them on campus let me buy it for whatever random change I had in my bag since I was broke.. So I could be in Halloween spirit. So now I can has jack-o-lantern. Doing stuff I like to do (or the thought of it) helps with the anxiety, heh. Yay jack-o-lantern (turning to good thoughts since I'm heading off to do studying )

ITS NOT FAIR!!!!!!! If I buy cookies, my guy will have eaten them all by the next day, so I bought some cookies to hide in my computer desk, so that when -I- want a cookie, there will actually BE cookies. Well, I went to the bathroom earlier and when I came out my KID had gotten into my desk and was happily eating ALL MY COOKIES!!! Now I've only a handful of cookies left and most of them have bites taken out of them...Its just not fair!!!!

Why why cant I just have something that I know will be there when I want it, and not have to worry about others eating them all up?? Why oh why cant you just leave MY cookies alone!!!!

Argh, Makoes I hate that. >< Sometimes I like to stash up on snacks or junk food. I might not eat it all at once, and if I don't my boyfriend will sometimes think that means it's up for grabs. :/ He tends to eat everything as he buys it, but I like taking my time. Sometimes I feel like I have to rush though otherwise he'll just eat it.

Oh man, I feel for you, Makoes! I have to hide all my snacks behind my computer or else my dad will get up in the middle of the night and eat it. He has eaten entire bags of chips in one night. (Worse, he doesn't do it unconsciously. I've caught him and he's perfectly awake.)

MY fiance and his mother are the same way. They bought donuts yesterday. Two bags. One chocolate. One powdered. I ate about 4 chocolates and wanted to save the rest for later. I wake up and both bags are GONE. I'm just thinking "Holy shit...seriously?"

I have a similar rant to that:

Dy likes to buy soda. He'll buy a twelve pack and then drink the entire thing in about three days. Meanwhile, I'll get a one liter (and that on his insistence, because he hates getting stuff and not getting me any) and if I don't drink it by the time his soda is gone, he'll drink that. I wouldn't mind so much, but I consider soda more of a treat than a necessity for me. Like...if I buy a twelve pack, I'll drink one every two days.

Then again, I'll go through ice cream, cookies, chips, etc way faster than he does.

I just don't like carbonation much.

Just...I want to quit playing. I don't want a repeat of what happened in my real life happening from a video game.

I joined a friends guild he was forming and we got talking about the Firehawk. Assuming we were doing heroic content I wondered about a drop order on the 100% drop and asked if I could have it first because it was my grail and I'm a collector. He said sure but changed his mind later on.
Over the week I was with the guild I was getting messages about recruitment and raid times...things that weren't set. Things were going very slowly so I quietly backed out and it caused tension.

Later on I invited him to an OS run and he needed on all 3 items that he could roll on and won them all. I got mad at him and I admitted to him that it was all a mistake because I was stressed when he reached out to me a few weeks later. We became friends again.

It turns out there was a huge misunderstanding on the mount drop order he posted about on the general forums and somebody took that post, posted it on another forum and called me out on the post he made while he was extremely upset. We talked it over and we're both extremely sorry about what we did but the damage was done and now my "reputation" is ruined.

I've been receiving nasty messages in game saying I didn't deserve my Ashes or my Time-Lost and that I'm a selfish...er...yes and don't deserve anything. It started 2-3 weeks ago but I got A LOT of them this morning and I have a good feeling it came from that other forums members or something just due to the timing.

Wanting a single mount on a heroic drop on reserve isn't selfish if the entire group agrees to it. I didn't leave that guild because of it but it was a reason since I felt I was lied to. That was fixed. Everything was fixed.
And this one person broke it even though me and my friend made up.

Just...I'm in tears.
Do I really have to name change to get around this?

... If it's THAT bad, I would maybe create a ticket to Blizzard about harassment. If people are going to the point of contacting you just to say those kinds of things, that's definitely harassment. I'm not sure what Blizz can do if it's an entire community doing it.. but you never know if you don't try :/

Also.. I'm having a mild anxiety attack. I know it's nothing to be worried about, I still got a 73% on my report... But there's only one. There was supposed to be 2. I also lost marks for stuff we DIDN'T HAVE TO DO. Like make the sections a full page. The prof specifically SAID we didn't have to fill the page if it wasn't necessary. They also miscounted, so I lost marks for that. I LOST MARKS because they couldn't count. WTF. (checking my paper, I think I see why, but that should have been half a mark, NOT a full mark. Cause I DID have 5, just didn't realize they were from the same author/year.. so it LOOKS like 4).

Either way, the other stuff is stuff that DIDN'T MATTER. That I shouldn't have been deducted marks for. And I know that I might get the same when i get a second mark. It's a grade I'll be happy with. I don't even know why I'm freaking out so much about it.

I mean.. I lost marks for saying what impact my research would have on the future of the topic in the conclusion.. THAT'S WHAT A CONCLUSION IS! I said what the results were. Then I said what could happen if this trend continues. Then I said what we should do about it. <.<

I need to calm down.. cause I still got 73%... That's REALLY not bad... For my first "real" paper.. and considering there were some really stupid errors I could have fixed that were done because I was in a rush and MAJOR stress at the time of writing it.. But... For some reason I don't care about that... I care that I lost marks on stuff the PROF SAID WAS OKAY. Is it MY fault that this person doesn't read the discussion boards? I lost marks because they didn't understand what the guidelines of the project were?

I need to calm down... I marked that their report wasn't fair... (it was "not fair at all" "fair most of the time" or "the whole thing was fair" ... and mine wasn't "mostly fair" .. there were a few valid points.. but less than half of it was...)

But.. still.. I need to calm down.. I just can't.. :/

This is TOTAL BS. I lose out on having an average even out my report mark because SOMEONE ELSE didn't do the work. Seriously. The e-mail from my prof said "Other people will get an average, but since you only got one review, that'll just be your mark". I replied saying I'll accept the mark, but that I STILL don't agree with that policy. Especially since I KNOW I lost marks where I shouldn't have. And I also lost 1.5 marks on my discussion without ANY reason why. I also still disagree with their thoughts that my conclusion was "wrong". I'm sorry.. but a conclusion SHOULD expand on your data and say WHY it matters. Saying that "Further research is needed to determine what effects there will be on sea urchin fertilitzation success and survival with the combined factors of blah blah blah" IS bringing up one of the most important points of my paper... The topic WAS mentioned before. I'm pretty sure I did, anyways...

I don't even know why I care.. I still get a 73%... Which while not great, is still pretty damn good considering I'm getting back into proper habits, and only just now learning how to manage my stress/anxiety (to some extent...)... But I do care... I do... It's not fair that my grading system will be different because OTHER people crapped out.. It's not fair...

edit: May have realized one reason this is bugging me so much. I'm at a point where I'm trying REALLY hard to trust other people... There's other things that are holding me back.. or rather.. helping keep me at a neutral place... And then something like this happens.. it wasn't even to do something nice for me.. they get 2% of their final grade from marking someone else's stuff...

I've been opening tickets on the people whispering me crap like "GG lying ****" and "You don't deserve anything you have" but they won't step in for anything outside their ownership.

Me and the friend I fought with are talking and he didn't mean a word he said in the thread she linked but now everybody assumes I'm just this chick who will abuse her breasts to get any mount in the game.
I wanted a sex change every since I can remember and I still struggle with the fact I'm female anytime somebody as much as looks at me.
Part of my mount collecting group read the thread and even though we've said we were just fighting they're worried I'm going to ninja things and stuff now.
