Hydras, Blizzard, and Us

Unread post by Arcanimus »

So, yeah. Was checking out the new Darkmoon Faire, all's well... Then I come upon this one little fella...

Image

I think the Devs are mocking us. I've started a new thread about this in the official PTR discussion forum. Link

Please show it some support.

There's a thread mentioning this in 4.3's Darkmoon faire. But yeah, hopefully this is just a hint of what's to come.

It's a joke. To interpret it as mockery is taking things a little too seriously, I think. At least no one's called it a slap in the face yet.

*nod* I doubt it's any sort of mockery. It's a nod of recognition that they know we want Hydras. I'm sure they'll come around eventually, so now they're just putting in light teases. Remember when the boss silithid models were tameable in the beta? Then they changed them and one got the title of <The Untameable>...later they were made tameable again though, so just have patience. :)

Yes, this has all been done before - and some people took it too seriously the last time too.

It's a joke people. They might give us hydra, they might not, but either way it's not like they're making fun of something we absolutely must have - I mean, if there was a glitch that prevented bows from being fired and they then added a legendary bow called "Doomfeather the Unshootable", then we'd have something to be mad about...

when i first saw the screenies in the other thread i giggled, i dont know why but such a title is so fitting for one... like their bestial aggresssion makes it untameable, that it will not bow down to anyone, that IT is the KING :3 (i have no idea xD)

I seriously doubt this is meant to mock us or do anything but make you laugh. If you're that bent out of shape over an untameable critter in a game and a teasing reference to its untameablility...I dunno. :(

It'd be neat if it was a little nod to things possibly changing, but things I've been told kind of go against that idea, so I'm not holding my breath here.

As Veph already said, the last beast marked untamable became tamable not long after.

People took that incident overly seriously too.

Lighten up; it's just a joke. :)

I've been checking hydras every single patch for quite a while. And yet, I still think it's absolutely hilarious. :) It's not as if hydras won't give us anything we haven't already got. It's a non-exotic ferocity pet that gives +5% critical. I.E. it's a scaly wolf. I suspect that we will get hydras eventually, whether it's in 4.3, 4.4+, or 5.0.

I'm in agreement with folks here. I.E. that it's a joke. Lighten up a bit and relax. This is definitely not something to get unduly upset about.

I think it's rather amusing acutely. Mock or not, you can't take it too seriously - this is a game after all and we are only one class of many. Though, like a few have said the last beast that gained the 'untamable' title was soon made tamable.

So, who knows. Maybe not in this patch, but who knows with the expansion. We can only wait and see :)

This joke reminds me of Blizzard's previous pet mocking/teasing they've done.

Ex: In every raid video in LK, one of the Hunters always had the Ghost Wolf as a pet. It may be that staff member's favorite pet, but it was still a teasing/hinting prod at us. Then we got Karoma, and I didn't mind it as much.

Also... NONE of the beasts at the DMF are tamable anyway. So technically....the fact that he isn't tamable shouldn't imply anything about whether other hydrae elsewhere might be or not. The lion family is 'untamable' yet lions are entirely tamable elsewhere.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

The difference is he has an actual title stating <The Untamable>, proclaiming it in a silly, teasing way. :) Yes, the mob itself would not be tamable in any case, since it's a friendly NPC, but since many people are hoping for Hydras it's a deliberate joke.
