Like many previous posters have mentioned: I too encountered a hunter who was confused about not able to tame a certain animal. especially the exotic ones.
As a matter of fact it did happen to my friend once who has a hunter too. He wanted a red corehound. This was before patch 4.3 and 4.1 even.
Anyway, he clicked his tame beast button and he complained "It doesn't work!" repeatedly.
First we came to the conclusion that something must have bugged, either the npc is not tagged as beast somehow or just a general bug of which we hadn't a clue what it could be.
We managed to stay alive and my friend ran to another room and feign death to reset the boss.
After a short debate I mentioned to him "But you are in BM spec, right?" ... small pause... "ehmmm, oops!" he said.
I think this is the case. Some forget which spec they're in and happens to some for whatever reason.
But to kill something because you can't tame it ? I don't understand that to be honest.
I have Skoll luckily and if I see him again, I will let him walk around. I know it took me a lot of time to finally tame him.
I think that Skoll is still tameable because I think that news about a pet not available anymore would get around fast. Or the (hunter) forums would have mentioning something like this I guess.
I don't know this for a fact. It's just what I think.
The red corehounds are nice, but... but, and sorry about this, but... the burning sound of the lava on the core hound. It puts me off a bit. I mean, it is a nice corehound, no argument here.
I have to say I do wear Headphones alot and then every little sound is very much on the foreground more or less.
I don't like the 'burning' sound on terrorpene too. but this is another discussion alltogether.
It is not really a complaint, ok a tiny one, because I love Terrorpene, because he's just awesome
