Gonna pack up my Hunters bags soon

Unread post by Adam-Savage »

So this is the story.

There is another who is right on my but for dps and GS and he is very good with raid awareness and the GM has been putting him on fill in for ICC. I wish I known about this earlier. Team 2 the team I'm on sucks and it's never the same ppl. So I tell him the other Hunter is gonna leave the guild cuz he doesn't want to have to pug or be a fill in anymore. Gm tells me he will deal with the problem.

he comes backs and ask me if I can raid weekends. I said no as I work during the day on weekends. I added in that he isn't fixing the problem by trading out one Hunter for another. I don't want to loose my spot and the other guy doesn't want to take a spot either.. I felt like just banging my head against the wall..So I'm pretty sure me and the other Hunter will be going to another guild. Hunters gotta stick together u know.

Oh and he told me just now that he wont take 2 hunters if he can help it and that it's wasting gear that drops if we cant use it. He rather bring in lower dps and GS for the bosses I would have everything I can get from them. This is to not waste gear as he put it. This is a good thought but it's not really fair to me because I'm losing out on the frost badges... I don't understand why 2 hunters is a bad thing..

Two hunters isn't a bad thing, especially when they are two different specs, as to bring in more bonuses. Your GM apparently prefers other classes and bonuses when building his raid. Without knowing more, I can't really say as to what is driving his reasoning.

These are the times I usually consider how happy I am playing the game. When it becomes a chore to play the game, its time to take a step back. If there's still enough going on that the craziness of changing guild is worth it, sure, I go where I'm needed. If I'm playing just to play, there are other things I could be doing with my time... or other games!!! :)

I actually "hibernated" my wow account (closed it indefinitely). There's just so much going on IRL that I needed a game MUCH easier on my time. Picked Eve back up in the meantime. have a good 16mil SP on a char they recovered for me, so I'm having fun playing the Eve equivolent of a hunter... a Dominix Drone Carrier :P.

You gotta do whats right for you, man. GMs come and go. Games come and go. Just don't get too caught up in the craziness of guild politics and drama... Its a lot of fuss for nothing in the end.
I don't really feel like this is so much the "Post-Modern" era as much as its the "Pre-Zombie-Apocalpse" era. I consider myself more of a forward thinking guy and an era that just won't die is just as feasible as a coming era, where the dead come back.

Actually two Hunters in a 10 man group is ideal, as both provide excellent kiting services on the adds the raid will be dealing with during ICC as well as very quick and mobile ranged DPS.
That said, both Hunters do need solid situational awareness and the ability to very speedily switch targets and begin burning the new one.

Now as for your GM's intentions, I'm not sure he's on the right path here. Gear is the reward for raiding and progressing, not the reason you raid. Or shouldn't be anyways. If he's wanting to bring in lower DPS to gear them up, that's fine, he can assemble an alt/new player/etc group to raid and they can gear up. But there needs to be a progression group to push the content as well, and if possible an in-between group. The progression group will have the higher DPS and gear levels and in 10s yes, chances are most, if not all, the gear from the Lower Spire and possibly Plagueworks will get disenchanted. But that's ok. The other running groups will not have that same "issue", they'll get gear and move ahead and eventually move into progression groups of their own.

To sum up, I think your GM needs to get his priorities straight. If he is only interested in gearing people up, what will happen is that people will leave the guild to find other guilds for progression, then all his work is essentially wasted on his guild. It sounds like he's running a "launch pad" guild from which people will migrate to other stronger guilds once they get all the gear they feel they can get from your guild.

I think that gm had no idea of what was going on through his mind. I hate those kinds of people in WoW that judge hunters blatantly when hunters can be just as good as any other class. Two hunters can be just as good as maybe a hunter and a mage or a warlock. Also, from what I read in Pet Discussion, I am quite disappointed in the same kind of people that believe that if a hunter doesn't have a wolf, they can't be in raids with them.

You know what I would like to see one of these days. Since an army of priests can take out Onyxia, I'd like to see an army of hunters with pets take out bosses in raids and prove these doubters wrong.

I told him the same thing. I said if you keep bringing the lower GS/lower dps you will never get to the lich king. I refuse to be on the team if he is gonna do this because he doesn't want to waste the gear that drops as he puts it.

Oh I forgot to add the other Hunter is marks so the Trueshot Aura would apply to everyone.

Unless you are particularly attached to your guild I'd recommend finding a new one.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to gear your raiders, but if you only have gear-running groups, there will be no progress made and people will leave once they are geared to find guilds that are progressing.

What do other people in the guild think? If they are generally happy with the way things are, then you definitely need to look elsewhere. But if there is discontent, you may be able to sway the GM to implement some different approaches to your raiding agenda.

I like the guild but If I wanna progress I'm gonna have to leave. I'm gonna give it one more shot at talking to my GM to see where he plans to take the team.

I found out today that there are others that are getting fed up with the Guild Master. I'm gonna attempt to try and make my own raid team. Not sure how well that would work out. It's a last ditch effort. I'm already highly tempted to join this other guild because I found out the GM for the guild literally live up the road from where I live.
