They're trying to change our beloved Derp pony. Taking away everything about her that is endearing just may as well remove the character.

I highly doubt this will make them stop it's better to go the safe route with this for them. A big lawsuit like what could happen with this can ruin animation studios and that's not even if they don't loose it. They could win and still loose everything as a studios reputaion is a big deal seeing as how small the interstry is. Yes Hasbros a big company and proberly has alot of money but something like a lawsuit would affect the studios who worked on it allso and I'm sure Hasbro wants them to keep on making shows for them.

The worlds just way to PC right now where things like this sadly happen (hence why I highly doubt my show ideas would ever seen the light of day unless on Adult swim

)

It doesn't hurt to try. By not trying, you let them win. If someone took your favorite doll, would you just let them walk away with it or would you do what you can to get it back?

Well they have allready changed it I don't think they will change it back.

They've changed it back and not gotten rid of merchandise, as well as said they're not changing the name. There's hope yet.

Personally I don't mind the change and if it means studios and the people who work for them don't loose work I don't care and that's what I really care about the people who work on the show as they do a god damn good job and "bronies" should be bloody thankfull they put all those fan ponies in the show.

The ponies arent fan ponies. They were canonly there long before the brony fandom took notice. And no one was threatening to sue Hasbro.

Most where just one offs that got alot of fan attention and so they put them in more eps like Doctor whooves and Derpy. If you read my posts I said "A big lawsuit like what could happen" I never said anyone was sueing them it's just one step away from doing that and the people who are against Derpy are the kind that would do that.

If you read the site, you'll see it's not quite that. Lawyers are the ones that approved Derpy in the first place.

I have read it and the people who are complaing are that kind of people and no lawyers where involed in the first place as she was a random joke background character a animator put in the background for a couple of scenes so you go read up on her yourself

Technicly she had no name as she was just a joke character a animator put in the background. Fans allso gave her the Dipsydoo name as they don't name background characters only fans do. background ponies have no official names.

No, cow, she was originally named Ditzy Doo. Watch the Winter Wrap Up episode. Thats when her name was first said.

We were told Hasbro has lawyers who check episodes before they air, if those guys greenlit Derpy then they should have expected complaints about her.

If I recall correctly staff members mentioned in interviews that a lawyer team reviews every episode to make sure there are no copyright infringing materials in them and Lauren said a lot of things had to be toned down to be less scary. So there is some kind of supervision from Hasbro’s part.
That’s why I don’t think Derpy just managed to slip through, she was allowed to be on the show but some people got seriously butthurt and now Hasbro or Apple or whoever is backpedaling.

I do find what alot of bronys are doing becouse of this to be worse then the people who are offended by derpy have done. Seriosly sending threats/nasty comments to people who don't like derpy is just idiotic and why spam the animators? they did nothing just their job! you wouldnt yell at a burger flipper for their company changeing the burger recipe! and it's not like the animators have any say in anything I don't get why poeple think that'll do anything.

Those are just a few reasons why I'll never call myself a brony I'm just a simple fan of the show

EDIT: I mean yeah you can get angry but don't fling hate around or point fingers it's not a good thing to do.

Some are taking it to an extreme, yes. I don't agree with them at all. But sitting on your butt doesn't bring about change. Thats why theres Petitions and letters being send to Hasbro.

Okay here goes all my opinion.

This is all reaching the point of stupidity. Death threats, bomb threats (Yeah, I'm not kidding. Humanity swoops too low once again.) and all that nonsense is idiotic and will do as it has always done. Make the fandom look like a load of QQers, change nothing, and everyone will go on going on. Send petitions. Fine. Letters. I really don't care. As long as you don't expect much to change. In the grand scheme of things, Cow is right. Companies will try to keep themselves afloat than listen to every desire of their customer.

And keep in mind, some people may actually feel offended. Don't brush them off and call them stupid or idiotic. They may not like how they're portraying X, Y, and Z. As far as I know people don't like it because it shows mental retardation and folks don't like seeing that on TV.

Regardless. I personally don't like Derpy. Logical side of me screams, "Dear heavens, why has natural selection not taken care of you yet? Why, Darwin? Why have you failllled us?" That's just me though. I just don't like her. *shrugs.*

However, I do like people trying for change. Somewhat. Ordered change with a real goal. Not the Occupy movement. Not with this and death threats.
