Re: Crappy Groups
Other fun things.......I went through two entire instances today without a healer so much as touching me once. I got 'accidental' heals from criticals with other effects and chain heal, but otherwise, I could be sitting at a thousand health, and not get a heal. A DEATH KNIGHT bandaged me for more then either of the healers in those runs.
Re: Crappy Groups
Yeah.
Caim had fun to.
We're looking for another tank- we get a tree. We have a resto shammy, a holy paladin and a tree. I have no idea about this until the boss when I notice I'm the only one tanking. ISN'T THAT GRAND. Ontop of this I have a pushy rogue and a DK complaining about me being a bit insecure as understandably it's my first time tanking a bit of Naxx. And even with my holy powers I still lost aggro from the pewpewpew at times.
But I digress.
We take on Patchwerk.
There's no OT.
I have no idea wtf to do I can't see what's going on around Patchwerk. I see the slimes- and I manage to aggro a few onto me, but that's all I see and I don't know if it'd be safe to aggro more than the half dozen I had eating my ass, onto me. All I can do is keep an eye on that rage meter, the beserke meter from DBM, keep an eye on Omen, keep an eye on the raid frames above Omen to get ready to use LoH if I have to- need to do TM to allow me to do that too over mouseover.

Are you sure it's entirely them being retarded and not them keeping threat off you? I mean sometimes when I pop FD or Soul Shatter, the mobs decide to well... go to the healers >_>Palladiamorsdeus wrote:I hate DPS who just explode, and do nothing about it. No barkskin, no shadowmeld, no ice block, no feign death, just stand there and die in about three seconds. Usually they do this when I about about half way through a holy light on the tank or myself. And then I start to feel guilty, and then it happens AGAIN, and AGAIN I don't see any sort of self defense mechanism, and usually they are attacking and off target and not the main target, and GAH!
And usually is better a dps dies than a healer right?

@Bullet: I love the counter groups like that, the ones that really let you unwind after a bad experience.

Re: Crappy Groups
Check his spec, it's alright. I look at his gear...he's in 50/50 cloth/leather. Leather is obvious, not 40 yet can't do the mail thing. The cloth has spirit and intel on it. Now I know why I'm actually doing better than him. A green cloth helm drops, says 'of the eagle' on it and guess what he does? Need rolls it. And actually equips it. About a minute later I was low on mana and went into Viper. Forgot to turn it off as soon as I hit 100% mana, I'm sure I'm not alone. The hunter (I now use that term loosely for this guy) tells me 'Switch from Viper to hawk, Viper has 50% dps decrease.' I was nice, held my tongue from letting lose the comment I wanted. Guy was sitting at 2400 mana at level 36, which was about what the healer had, if not a little less.
I swear guys, I'm slowly losing faith in the Hunter community if these are the up and coming hunters that we have..

Re: Crappy Groups
MY NAME IS RYAI.
I JUST HAD A CRAPPY GROUP.
Anyways,
We get into PoS since the devourer can drop an item for me and one for a friend. ALREADY IT IS GOING SO WELL WHEN HEALER DOESNT HEAL ARIA OR OUR FRIEND.
AND THEY DIE.
WHAY.
This is also more fun by the fact for the first boss? War didn't burn down soul. Healer didn't heal. Aria was dead and Tail too.
Then ofc I died and the first war left, good fucking riddance as he didn't even try and help out at all [ie switch stances long enough for me to heal. We might have been able to last longer. But i digress.
We get to the boss again; this time EVERYONE but the healer, moves the fuck away. Healer stands right by him three times.
Three times he is healed.
The fight is dragged on for 3+ more minutes, than it needed to be.
So more fun times, more deaths, we get to the devourer.
HEALER DECIDES LETS DIE ON DEATH BEAM. After ofc nearly letting me die, nearly letting Aria and Tail die- and let me tell you they came damn close to dying. I finally realize that shie has hit the fan and Aria may not have seen the dead healer as she was busy healing herself so I scream in chat something I've never had to scream before.
ARIA.
I HAVE NOT HAD TO YELL FOR HEALS FROM HER FOR A LONG TIME. This is HOW bad the healer was.
Somehow we SOMEHOW defeat the boss, by the fucking skin of our teeth.
all I got was a dps trinket for 'offspecc' too :/
and ontop of it I get to feel like a horrible tank as there was NOTHING I could really do to help outside of keep boss on me :/

Re: Crappy Groups
Yeah I had the control freaks and blah blah blah but I'm talking REALLY bad groups. And not just one but no joke like four in a row before I got into a great group.
First groups started with the usual DPS suspects. Warrior tank and druid healer. First thing that happened right before the first boss was the tank got a good drop and deserts the group. New tank comes in and then the healer takes off and we barely survive the boss fight. We hit another group of mobs and the new healer bails. No word just up and leaves. I yell across to group to wait as the healer left. Dumb tank pulls a large group of about 7 mobs and no healer. We all promptly die me being the last to kick the bucket. I run back to the instance and said "Did you not see that I said the healer left? WTH???" He didn't say anything. So we wait, get a new healer and finish the dungeon.
Second group had the same type issue except the DPS-ers (except me) were just up and leaving. At this point I'm really agitated but just wanting to get the group finished and hope that third times the charm.
Third time not the charm. More deserters and a healer who was so worthless. I was healing myself most of the time and others in the group kept asking for heals. If it was a small group of mobs (like two or three) the healer did ok. But any more then three and the chances and the tank and DPS-ers dieing was high. At that level, if you cannot heal properly do not go into the instance. We get to the last boss and I'm trying all I can to stay alive and then boom I died. Missed out all the XP and bonus for completion.

Not wanting to just log off all ticked I decided to give it one last shot and queue up for one last dungeon and hope it went well. I get in and there is a warrior, another hunter and myself as DPS, priest healer, pally tank. Everyone was good except the hunter. I was ashamed to be called a hunter after this guy's performance. We make it through the first set of mobs fine. Then things start going nutso. This hunter starts pulling. I think he also had growl on and was using viper most of the time. He rolled need for pretty much everything. He made another pull not even waiting for the tank and I lost it. I said "Um who is the tank because at this point I'm getting confused." Being a smartass this guy says the tanks name. Not smart when you've pissed off all the other players in the dungeon. So he goes to make another pull ahead of the tank and we all decide to stay back and let him die. He pulled four mobs. His pet was very sadly killed and followed by him. They refused to rez him.

Shame I had to go through this four times in a row.

Re: Crappy Groups
I queued up for a random on my lil' dk tank (since I'm still on the fence about respeccing now or after the the big patch) and got OK. According to Rankwatch, the pally healer was downranking flash of light, which could have been harmless, but that had me on my guard. My health spiked quite often, but I was sure to pop cooldowns every chance I got, then death striked (death struck?) like mad. No one died, except the gnome rogue, who got feared into a trash pack before the second boss.
Okay, so that wasn't much of a horror story, but it COULD have been really bad if I hadn't overcompensated.

Re: Crappy Groups
Okay to be honest I needed a vent...
I went to my main, this is like over two months of break from my old resto days. Safri politely asked me to maybe try a HC.
I have always used the default Unit frames on Lata, it's just something that Xperl can't help, but now I tried with xperl, setting it to my warlock/hunter defaut aka. my best collection of an Ui I have so far.
Didn't even take about five minutes until we popped into the good ol' instance...can you guess what is the dungeon of absolute "love". If you guessed Old Kingdom you were right, this dungeon has a hate relantionship with me.
Our group is a DK tank, Lock, Hunter (Safri) and a rogue..yes and I as the healer of course. Trash died like with a breeze, I was forced to use alot of mana but I thought it was just because of rust and I knew I always had the innervate if I got a little mana dry
There was a deal with big pulls, rogue died because he got aggro, our lock was getting a beating, but I didn't pay attention at them.
We get to the first boss, the bane of healers...oh how I hated him and still do. Our tank starts the encounter, going smoothly but the tank IS taking heavy damage but I thought it was just me doing sucky healing so I stepped it up.
The true fun begins when the guardian spawns and ALL aggo goes to me, for some reason the tank was STILL hitting the boss not focusing on the guardian. I had the spiders, guardian on me, I popped myself to full hots.
Tank died first, I don't know how and why, I used battleress of course. The guardian DID die but I died then because the minispiders gnawed at me still AND the boss got a hit on me. Thus the chain began, one by one they died and Saf was the last standing with a quick FD.
I know I shouldn't take it personaly, the Lock said I was clearly a sucky healer, a loser. I was rusty but he left before I could voice what did I do wrong.
By a childish act I left too, I just needed to clear my head. Saf later asked if I was okay, I was thinking of throwing the towel on my main. But then Safri voiced a neat aspect the tank wasn't Def capped, she checked.
I decided to try a group without Safri, I got ToC HC, another not favorite...it was the first dungeon where I had ever died after it was released.
We had a same group like in the Old kingdom with added shaman dps, but of course Safri was not the tank. The rogue (but he like the tank are forced to stand in them even if the rule is to MOVE out) nearly died in the poison so did the tank, Shaman didn't move away from the puddle giving me MORE work.
Then we got Paletress, oh how I saw it wasn't going to end good. We didn't wipe but the tank DID die so did our rogue as did I but Paletress went down. The lock was blaming the tank not keeping aggro, tank said he hadn't faced Paletress before, I claimed at the same time that I was rusty. On Black knight it was a close call, rogue died and so did I, man the bill was going to hurt.
I tried a normal ToC after it, it went nice, no deaths whatsoever.
So now I am enjoying my B&J icecream and thinking AM I a sucky healer, rusty or just working with idiotic tanks?

Re: Crappy Groups
Probably a combination of rust and idiotic tanks, with a dash of undergearedness. Without seeing your gear, I can't confirm that last bit in regards to you, so bear with my assumptions. If you've been inactive for a while on that character, I'm guessing your gear may not be that many tiers above the heroic level, if it is at all above that level.Sonata wrote:So now I am enjoying my B&J icecream and thinking AM I a sucky healer, rusty or just working with idiotic tanks?
Moving on, since I can't say any of that for sure...
The OK tank may have been undergeared, but it definitely sounds like an execution problem on the part of the group. If the tank doesn't pick up the guardian, the healer will probably die, unless said healer absolutely outgears the instance and/or the dps blows through the guardian. None of that happened. Don't take the lock leaving personally, cause that wipe was not your fault. I tend to discount the opinions of the loudmouth players who trashtalk, especially when they've gotten the facts wrong.
With ToC, it sounds like the tank didn't know how to handle Paletress at all (which baffles me, since ToC has been out for so long...) and dps was lazy on the first fight. Depending on what caused the deaths on the Black Knight, it could be a gear level thing combined with a melee heavy group standing near exploding corpses, leading to a poor overworked druid, who really doesn't have the burst healing options for that many people at once.
TL;DR: Can't really tell without seeing your gear or knowing your rotations, but I'm inclined to say "not completely your fault" in ToC regardless of your gear....and in the case of OK, "not your fault."

Re: Crappy Groups
Theres no "the right" rotation with druids but I like to use the standard lifebloom stack (keeping it at three if I need to divert my attention I let it bloom) with rejuvenation added with wild growth since the melee dps and pets benefit from this.
On a boss I pop regrowth and rejuvination, added with lifebloom. Let rejuvenation die out and pop it up after regrowth has expired.
I tried a test run with Nourish at the same time, since I read from Elitist that it was the main tank spam heal.
Wait I'll link my armory, Latarir the Resto druid. Yes I wear the old Heroes Dreamwalker and the chest has horrible gems but I was broke back then and the set bonus I get affects my lifebloom so far.
I have only one blue at the moment, that being my helm, the rest are beautiful purple. If I need to make a GS count it's over 4k atm.
TL;DR: but yes I am mainly placing it on rust or that I am not used to the Ui yet. With added bad luck with tanks.

Re: Crappy Groups
Stacking lifebloom isn't the way to go anymore. It's rejuvs on the party/raid, with wild growth. Only special situations with AoE healing (like Stinky or Precious in ICC) call for lifebloom on anyone other than a tank.
You really are geared at-level or in the case of ToC, slightly under, so that IS going to be a big factor. So it's partly rust, but mostly, your gear is way behind the times.
