Potentially tameable beast skins - MoP Edition

Unread post by Wain »

This is a checklist of new skins and models appearing in MoP that are probably the best candidates for becoming tameable at some point (pure guesswork at this stage!). I'll add more families if it starts to look like they might become tameable and removes ones if they start to look like they won't. I've kept it separate from my main untameables list for now till we sort out what will and won't be available.

Related Lists:
Anyway, on with the list... Click on the pictures/links to see larger versions of the image.

Cats
Pandaria Tiger model:
All except for the "God" model are tameable.
Image SiberianTiger
Image SiberianTigerBlack
Image SiberianTigerBrown
Image SiberianTigerFrost
Image SiberianTigerGreen
Image SiberianTigerOrange
Image SiberianTigerRed
Image SiberianTigerWhite
Image SiberianTigerGod

Turtles
Dragon Turtle model:
There are two models of dragon turtle, which both use the same set of skins. The "Epic" model has fins and a spikier shell.
Regular model:
All except the odd "DragonTurtleBlack" the end are available/tameable.
Image RidingDragonTurtleBlack
Image RidingDragonTurtleBlue
Image RidingDragonTurtleBrown
Image RidingDragonTurtleGreen
Image RidingDragonTurtlePurple
Image RidingDragonTurtleRed
Image DragonTurtleBlack: this skin is different to the rest in both shape and name and may not be intentional for this model. It looks a bit odd.
"Epic" (finned and spiky) model:
All except the purple, and the odd "DragonTurtleBlack" the end are now available/tameable.
Image RidingDragonTurtleBlack
Image RidingDragonTurtleBlue
Image RidingDragonTurtleBrown
Image RidingDragonTurtleGreen
Image RidingDragonTurtlePurple
Image RidingDragonTurtleRed

Raptors
Basic 'primitive' riding raptor model:
One has been made tameable on the beta (Drakkari Riding Raptor, which uses the "Tomato" skin). We can always hope more will appear, but there aren't any other attackable free-standing raptors that could be used currently.
Image RidingRaptorSkinEmerald
Image RidingRaptorSkinIvory
Image RidingRaptorSkinObsidian
Image RidingRaptorSkinTomato: tameable as Drakkari Riding Raptor
ImageRidingRaptorSkinTrexSkinRed
Image RidingRaptorSkinTurquoise
Image RidingRaptorSkinViolet
Swift riding raptor model:
Two of these colours have already appeared on tameable beasts in MoP, both on the Amani Riding Raptor. Let's hope more appear!
Image PvPRidingRaptorSkinAqua
Image PvPRidingRaptorSkinBlack
Image PvPRidingRaptorSkinCrimson: tameable as Amani Riding Raptor
Image PvPRidingRaptorSkinDarkBlack
Image PvPRidingRaptorSkinGreen
Image PvPRidingRaptorSkinOrange: tameable as Amani Riding Raptor
Image PvPRidingRaptorSkinPurple

Cranes
All are now tameable except for the "God" model.
Image CraneBlack
Image CraneBlue
Image CraneBrown
Image CraneGreen

Porcupines
Originally tameable by accident, they were so cute they decided to keep them. All are now tameable.
Image Porcupine
Image PorcupineBlue
Image PorcupineDark
Image PorcupineRed
Image PorcupineWhite
Image PorcupineYellow

Quilen
These are a new exotic family. Quilen look a lot like Chinese guardian lion statues, rather than their "qilin" namesake.
Organic:
All the organic skins are tameable.
Image Quilin_Brown
Image Quilin_Gray
Image Quilin_Red
Image Quilin_White
Stone, unadorned:
Jade is unavailable.
Image Quilin_Amethyst
Image Quilin_Cobalt
Image Quilin_Jade
Image Quilin_StoneGray
Stone, adorned:
All are available from random variants of the one rare "Portent".
Image Quilin_Amethyst2
Image Quilin_Cobalt2
Image Quilin_Jade2
Image Quilin_Jasper2

Moths
Same old model, same colours, but new wing/body colour combos. Theoretically any combo of wings and body colour could be used, meaning 36 possible combinations, including the originals! There are only two new combos so far, though, bring the total moth looks to 9:
Image MothSkinYellow (Green Wings): tameable as Fluttering Swallowtail
Image MothSkinYellow (Blue Wings): tameable as Fluttering Swallowtail

Crabs
Deep Sea Crab Model:
Rather than using the same two highlight colours (purple and blue), they're now experimenting with using other skin colours for the highlights, to awesome effect.
Image DeepSeaCrab_Ghost (orange skin highlights): King Spineclaw

Scorpids
Horde Scorpion Model:
Image HordeScorpionAmber: tameable on various beasts

Basilisks
Outland Basilisks
All are available.
ImageBasilisk_OutlandGreen : Dampscale Basilisk etc.
ImageBasilisk_OutlandRed : Scalded Basilisk and Stonegazer
ImageBasilisk_OutlandViolet : Craghide Basilisk etc.
ImageBasilisk_OutlandYellow : Marshrock Stomper etc.
Azeroth Basilisks
There exist four different crest colours for basilisks: jade, blue, purple and orange. Every combination of skin and crest is allowed. All except for three of the four purple combos (purple with jade, orange and purple crests) are now available:
ImageImageImageImage
BasiliskSkinBlack : Jade Crest, Blue crest, Purple Crest, Orange crest
ImageImageImageImage
BasiliskSkinBlue : Jade Crest, Blue crest, Purple Crest, Orange Crest

BasiliskSkinWhite : Jade crestBlue crest, Purple Crest, Orange Crest

BasiliskSkinYellow : Jade Crest, Blue crest, Purple Crest, Orange Crest

Worms
Silkworm model:
These guys were first tameable by accident. They decided to keep them anyway, as unlikely as they may seem as an intelligent creature... All colours but the dark one are available.
Image Silkworm
Image SilkwormBlue
Image SilkwormDark
Image SilkwormGreen
Image SilkwormRed

Water Striders
Another new family. Outland fen strider/spore walkers are being lumped together with Pandarian water striders, despite being nothing at all alike... Still, both look awesome :)
Mount model:
All are tameable.
Image WaterstriderMount_Blue1
Image WaterstriderMount_Jade1
Image WaterstriderMount_Orange1
Image WaterstriderMount_Red1
Image WaterstriderMount_Yellow1
Regular model:
All are tameable.
Image Waterstrider
Image WaterstriderBlue
Image WaterstriderGreen
Image WaterstriderOrange
Image WaterstriderWhite

Spore / Marsh Walkers
All are tameable.
ImageTripod : Fen Strider
ImageTripodBlack : The Black Stalker & Coilfang Strider
ImageTripodGreen : Marsh Walker
ImageTripodWhite : new Pandarian rare, Hexapos. Removed from Marticar and Boglash

Ruminants, horned/antlered
Goats:
All are tameable.
Image Goat
Image GoatBlack
Image GoatBlackSpots
Image GoatBlue
Image GoatSpots
Image GoatWhite

Everything on the list from this point onwards is part of a non-tameable family. They've been left here out of hope and because they're the best candidates remaining of the new models...

Yaks:
Yaks could easily be grouped with goats, since they're both horned ruminants and both have a butt/gore type of attack. But there's been no sign of that happening. The one that was accidentally made tameable was fixed up a patch later. I'm leaving them here for now, in hope.

Pandarian Stags:
Image PandarenStagBrown
Image PandarenStagGreen
Image PandarenStagGrey
Image PandarenStagOrange
Image PandarenStagPurple
Image PandarenStagWhite

Mushan
Not a new family. I'm including them anyway as they're one of the best remaining candidates for a tameable beast amongst the new models. A couple were accidentally made tameable but were fixed up in the next patch. I don't hold much hope, but I'll leave them here for now.
Image MushanBeast
Image MushanBeast_Black
Image MushanBeast_Blue
Image MushanBeast_Brown

Kunchong (Mantid Tanks)
Not a new tameable family. While Mantids are sentient humanoids, Kunchong are classed as beasts and look so much like silithid colossi it's not impossible they'll become tameable some day. There's no sign of that happening so far, but I'll leave them here for now.
Image MantidTank_Black
Image MantidTank_Blue
Image MantidTank_Green
Image MantidTank_Red

Cloud Serpents
Not a new tameable family. Many are now beasts. They're probably not going to become tameable, but they are nice to look at and dream.

Image PandarenSerpent_Black : Wild Onyx Serpent, Subjugated Serpent, Onyx Stormclaw
Image PandarenSerpent_Blue : Shan'ze Cloudrunner
Image PandarenSerpent_Green : Shan'ze Cloudrunner

Image PandarenSerpentRed (Lightning) : Alani <the Stormborn>

Image PandarenSerpentGod_Black : Hei Feng (still classed as dragonkin)
Image PandarenSerpentGod_Blue

Image PandarenSerpentGod_Red
Image PandarenSerpentGod_Yellow
Image CelestialSerpent - maybe a potential spirit beast? :)

Nothing changed as of yet :( , checked out most of the skins you have here and they are all still untameable.. But I did notice one thing.... The Gorilla's are now (anyway in the new zones) classified as "Giants" not tameable, and not beasts. Have taken pictures of everything I came across, will put them up in my photobucket as soon as i get the time :)

ok, sorry for some of the pics are kinda dark ;) was on a computer that barely runs wow, let along get good pics, but here is some info or the skins..

Tigers and Turtles I couldn't get a confirmed name for color, but for cranes it was pretty easy.

CranePink = Lotus Crane (In Valley of the Mad Brewer)
CraneBlack = Crested Bandit Crane (In Orchis Hollow)
CraneGreen = Wandering Creenback (In Dawn's Blossom)
CraneBrown = Sunrise Crane (In Central Bamboo Forest)
CraneWhite = Ink-Tipped Crane (In The Arboretum)

Found the Waterstriders, kinda small, bout the size of a house cat :) One that is in the newbie zone is RED, and all the red ones you have listed say MOUNT... this one is way to small to mount :) used for a quest, but are labeled as beasts.

The NPCID macro doesn't work in beta currently, so I can't get any IDs but I'm taking screenshots of beasts. I'll post more info such as level ranges and areas once I explore a bit more.

On a side note, on a quest I ran today I found that Jadefang is no longer a unique skin. I also noticed that the jade tigers were marked as elementals. I put a note in the blizzard suggestion forum hoping they will change them to beasts for us.

Also as of today, the jade cats are labeled as elementals, not beasts. I do hope this changes since I know a lot of people want to tame that skin

There are also reddish brown mountain worgs for those who like the worg model. Located in the Tidemist Thicket.

I'm pulling for the organic Qilin and the dragon turtles. Fingers crossed!

Also, thanks for the great resource, Wain.

Side note for the future: Based on the Bestiary, I think Blizzard plans on calling them Quilen in-game.

I still think those Mushan things look like a updated Snapdragon model. I mean they have Dragonturtles..... Only logical to make Snapdragons. XD Well to me anyway.

Yeah, I'm not sure which will be correct. The website could be a typo, as Doomcookie's picture here shows the in-game ones to be spelled "Qilin":

Ohhhh what if the "race" is spelled one way but then theres mobs with it spelled the other way? As in certain types are named differntly.

Edit: sorry if that makes non sence. It does in my head haha!

I changed the comments to refer to Doomcookie's list for the actual beasts. That's a much better idea than trying to document those here as well.

I found a new bird ... sort of. Right now, this isn't a beast. It's not even a critter. It can't be selected at all. And the model is a bit blocky. But it's not worse than the seagull - and way prettier.

Image

I found it sitting on the rim of Owen's Wishing Well in the Jade Forest.

Interesting bird. Reminds of me a real life bird, I just cant place the bird type at the moment.
I believe if you can believe out of nothing an explosion (big bang) happened then how far fetched can god be?
