Silithid Colossus Sounds
This is a really irritating bug (hee-hee! ) in live and I'd really like to see it fixed in the next expansion.
Basically, any silithid with the "boss model" (see: http://www.wow-petopia.com/family/silithid.html) will constantly make screeching sounds upon walking backwards, strafing from side to side, swimming, and occasionally on some snow surfaces.
Here's some video proof, by yours truly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5HYCWIWzBc
Can anyone with Beta see if this problem persists? (I submitted a ticket back in February and spoke with a GM briefly, but I've received no information that it will be fixed anytime soon.)
If it isn't already patched, let's get some support to stop this problem! I can't stand to use my favorite pet outside of BGs and arenas just because the slightest wrong turn will emit constant screeching that everyone can hear.

I dont play with sound often but geez that would get on my nerves really fast.
I am checking beta now for you.
Edit: Yes they still do it. My word how do you stand that
Toggling off and on pet idle sounds etc doesnt change anything.

Yes! I hated taking my big bug to Vash'jir, even though he's the most effective pet for killing bots.

I've actually never noticed this. Maybe mine doesn't get out enough or something. The only noise I notice is the random thump they make.

Take one to Vash'Jir, mount up on sea horse, all you will hear is "Squee! Squee! Squee!" it doesn't stop. I have to disable sound when I take mine there

Re: Silithid Colossus Sounds
I think the thunk is the sound they make when they fall over and die as a boss but as a pet they just randomly do it for no reason at all. I used to have 2 boss slithids as my 1# pet and I was plagued with screeching and thunking every few seconds. Eventually I abandoned the purple one and banished the orange one to my stables. =/ shame it hasn’t been fixed yet. I love my brain bugs but they just don’t SHUT UP! >.<

Dear lord, yes this is so annoying. 8C
At first I thought it had to do with the particular one I tamed but after going through and taming one or two more, I realized that it was the entire family and I sobbed tears of blood except not really because it's only rarely that I play with game sound now-a-days.
I feel bad for people who love this family and play with game sounds on unless they find the screeches endearing.

Isn't there an option to mute pet sounds somewhere? I could swear I've seen it...

Oh how I have noticed this too. One of the reasons why I don't use my boss silithid often. Not only does it make that sound a lot, but it's also pretty loud, compared to most other pets.
I'll be waiting on the highland, with its wonderful serenity.
Where the stars glow and the brooks flow, that's my way of life.
When the mountains on the highland, and the nature is surrounding me, when the wind blows, that's all I need.

Re: Silithid Colossus Sounds
i just figured it out and sadly the elder seadragons in krasarang wilds are afflicted by the glitch that core hounds and devilsaurs had at the beginning of Wrath where their large pre tame footsteps can be heard after they have shrunk. hope its not too late to fix that or i wont be getting one when mists comes around!
Re: Silithid Colossus Sounds
I had to get rid of my colossus because of the thunk too. It's just so -obnoxious-.
someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

The thunk plays roughly 1 every 5 minutes for me, it's fine.Nachtwulf wrote:I had to get rid of my colossus because of the thunk too. It's just so -obnoxious-.
The constant screeching on the other hand...

Re: Silithid Colossus Sounds
I kind of enjoyed the sounds my Colossus made for the short time I had him (darn, I miss him now) but I didn't have him for long. It was nice to have a pet that wasn't completely silent like most of the others- I loved his vocalizations. But the "thunk" was annoying as fel, and the screeches were way, way too common. It'd be neat if more pets could have small vocalizations, but I sure hope they stop being so dang common on the colossus. x.x

Re: Silithid Colossus Sounds
I usually play with the volume low, so the hissing isn't annoying. I actually think it's hilarious that Harakiss the Infestor complains if I back up or swim -- "Why can't you just go forward like a normal person? *hiss* And now why are we _in the water_? *huff* I'm built for bloodshed, not flotation! *wheeze* My kingdom for some waterwings *gasp*..." I suppose in Vash'jir it would get pretty old, though.
The thunk is more annoying to me when it happens, but at least that's not very often. It would be great if they'd do it during their cower animation.

This is a large reason I don't have silithids or beetles, for the most part. I have a few, but the 'thud' constantly irks me. Even the teeny Sand Scarab does it!Jessibelle wrote:Yeah they tend to go THUNKTHUNK! every minute or so. It annoyed the crud out of me...xD

I've noticed the thud when I've tamed colossus silithids, but never on beetles. *confused*Ziarre wrote:This is a large reason I don't have silithids or beetles. the 'thud' constantly irks me. Even the teeny Sand Scarab does it!
