Real quick. If you guys don't have your normal gray wolf or salamander drake and you're on Tarnished Coast, I recommend getting them now. We're the blue shard this time around, which is right where these two pets are located.

The wolves are actually located farther up in the Umberglade Woods. You have to wait to get into the Eternal Battleground, but Tarnished Coast is at least holding it's own there.

Is there a level requirement for that? I'm still pretty newbish since all I've been doing is running around exploring. I'm only level 8. xD

Nope. Everything is scaled with the exception of... gear. XD So your stats go up, but you're pretty much a level 80 in low level gear. Still it should effect you so long as we hold the Tarnished Coast Hills. The most you'll have to worry about is a few hostile creatures. Even then they're not too tough.

Hmm, I'm in the battleground, but I can't find any juvenile beasts to tame. I found all the Salamanders, but no juveniles, and I don't see the wolves. I'm in the same places on the map.

EDIT: Aha, found them. They were just hidden and hard to spot since I didn't have friendly name plates showing. Got the salamander, wolf, drake, and then a spider and jaguar too. I'm so glad 'taming' in this game is instant, I just run through a group of angry mobs, grab my pet, and hightail it outta there.

I found an excellent map resource that you can toggle pet locations on. Very handy!

EDIT: And a Petopia-esque site for pets:

Some guides display various locations for juvenile Golden Moas. Has anyone actually charmed them? They are not on the pet list. I assume, they are a hoax?

I don't see them listed anywhere, and they aren't on our pet tab, so I'm going to say they aren't tameable.

So, the cool sharkodile models are still in game as wild beasts, but for some reason the developers changed the ranger pet into the plain green drake we have now instead of the awesome sharkodile, even though the pet icon for that species still looks like the original. :(

/laments

I just sent in a feedback to GW2 asking if they'd consider changing it, by some small miracle that they'd listen.

I just...LOOK AT THAT THING. It's the coolest animal I've ever seen and I've never wanted anything so badly.

There seems to be a big deal of reposting going on, you can find golden moas on the list here: http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/mmo/gui ... tions.html

here also: http://gamersyndrome.com/2012/video-gam ... locations/

here even with the skill: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/467 ... pet-guide/

Makes me wondering if they vere actually charmable during beta. hmm

Ps: I totally agree about that drake :( I wanted the crocowhale so much :(

Man that thing looks hideous. xD Kinda cool, but hideous. I love the moa though! If I was able to play GW2 properly I would so make a ranger and get a moa. (:

I remember seeing those too Veph and having one during beta. I'm not sure why they changed it, the only thing I dont like is I cant tell if those are its eyes on the sides of its head or not. I'll post a screenie of my ranger later with her favorite pet. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE hyenas in this game. So I dont know what the word is, they just look so REAL.

Isn't the regular brown wolf also in the Charr region? You dont have it's location listed.

You mean just the mob or the charmable mob? The only known location so far for charmable brown wolves is in the Eternal Battleground.

Yeah that's the one. I didn't see it listed. That's in the charr area isn't it? Near the drakes and all.

EDIT: Derp. I see them now. They're listed in WvW but not at the Eternal BG.

Juvenile hawk location.

You find one in the Iron marches, a lvl 50-60 zone. I found ONE north of Ebbing Heart run and it was surounded by lvl 59 mobs.
Also thing is TINY so i dident actually see it. Just saw the Charm option appear. I was only lvl 52 so..i had no time to stop and see if there was more.

While this feature of the Grimtotem Spirit Guide wasn't exactly intended... - it will still be possible in future for everyone who wishes to tame this NPC to do so

Seems no one has the Sylvari region listed here.

Sylvari have the Fern Wolf at the Grove, Jungle Stalkers and Pink Moas in Caledon Forest.

Also you cannot revive pets anymore. Can only switch them out.

This is probably kind of silly, but I am making the very difficult decision to not look at any of the links on the first page to see what these creatures look like. I didn't even read the entire list. When I make a ranger (well, one I stick with anyway), I want to discover these beasts on my own so that it's new and exciting. Not that there's anything wrong with your list, of course! I am just having a very hard time not looking at each one eagerly to see what they look like and where they are. :D I am soooooo happy that finally, another game lets you tame pets! Maybe someone from NC stalks this forum, too! ;)

I did level a Norn ranger to four or five, and picked the bear as my starting pet. I named him Bergrind ("behr-grind" - the -grind pronounced as "grin" with a d on the end). I think I have a plan to name all my pets kinda similar to that, tweaking their pet type and adding -grind on the end. For example, a wolf would be Wolgrind. :3 Not that that has anything to do with the topic of this thread. I'm tired! :D

I am hoping that in a few months, we can gather together and offer a feedback thread based on adding some new critters. Since they seem intent on each creature being rather..unique with their skillsets I can understand that adding new ones would take a bit.

I really want a raptor. XD
