I would be very freakin' surprised that a human run would suddenly translate into a smooth-as-silk run of this overgrown feralistic creature. The run gives the impression they are not just this dainty little flesh and bone human but a freakin' BEAST who's having to lumber around with this massive body that they haven't quite gotten the hang of immediately after the original disease spread throughout Gilneas. This gives the impression that they did not quite get the perfect hang of having to carry all that extra muscle and bone weight, hence the lumbering hunch, which eventually stuck.

Blizzard, seriously, BRAVO guys for not going the Twilight/Sonic Unleashed character design route with the Worgen! I think I would have launched that skillet intended for Garrosh's head at someone else's in the company had they done that...

I love how there's a casual forgetfulness that at BlizzCon '09, the transformation was deemed as a purely cosmetic feature - it was there to add a little bit of oomph to the Worgen as a whole - given in mind the standard player latches onto shiny things pretty much like a magpie, it was probably met with resistance, but I couldn't hear much over the cheering of the crowd in the livestream so it was obviously rather well-recieved. You can stay full human or full beast or run around transforming at will. That was the plan and it seems to be exceptionally true in this video. For most of that video, the guy runs about as a human, only shapeshifting at a target and doing one-shot hits. Far as I'm concerned, it doesn't make or break the Worgen as a class. There was the same thing said about the Draenei and the Blood Elves in TBC...yet, now, no one appears to have any rolling issues with them either way, except for the obvious jokes about tenticular-faces and streetside roadblocks. In time, same deal's gonna happen to the Worgen and Goblins.

In regards to the transformation's loud sounds (which I personally don't mind), how difficult is it to turn off sound effects, leaving only the music? Not very.
Visually, I doubt Blizzard didn't take into consideration the strain of the servers. I think the Alpha/Beta tests will probably confirm for them that the 'effectiveness' of it and may drop a few dozen polygons to prevent framerate lag; but it's still a lil' early to see whether or not that will come into a proper effect.

As for the fact it looks like the Worgen used the Draenei base form...I suppose the same thing could be said for everything "remodelled" in the game thus far, weapons, people, places, dragonkin, etc? It's not a broken system for Blizzard. Personally, I don't see an issue, it's been the norm for five and a bit years. Yes, true, change is always good, but honestly? Look at all the changes thus far coming in to the world we thought we knew. The fact Worgen reuse a base set of animations is kinda irrelevant given all this other spectacular stuff going on. I personally can overlook it as one animation similarity is not going to put me off playing a Worgen. It didn't stop me from playing both a Night Elf and a Blood Elf in TBC either, despite the animation/character design similarities there.

And finally, we need a release date for this expansion, so I can tell my boss to shove it for a fortnight...

I agree Kaleos. Not only is it cosmetic, but I sincerely doubt Blizz would implement something that gives one race a disadvantage compared to the others (such as a delay to attack).

I am really excited to roll a Worgen. Though a Hunter would be awesome, I was think that I might go Rouge, but I'm haveing second thoughts after seeing the animation. I was imagining Worgens being quick and stealthy, but they seem more bulky and tank'ish. I wish their run was a little more lope-y(sp).

I wonder if the 'dash' animation for Worgen Rogues will have them running on all fours?

Not all of them. The current worgen dont' /flirt, /salute or /train, to name a few... Besides, I don't find the run looks entirely like the current NPC worgen run. Just off the top of my head, obviously.

The form buffs you with a 1% DPS increase, and is on during combat at all times. That's one of the worgen racials. Previously Blizzard stated that you could be in human form outside of combat, but would be forced into worgen form for combat, they also stated that you could be worgen outside of combat. I am not sure if he is just un-transforming after combat, or if they made it combat only, and you change back after it ends.

But my pet worgen used to run on all fours (bless his little nerfed soul... /pat) and I have yet to see any "new" worgen model do that.

In fact, that was one of the things I liked so much about the old world worgens.

I'm afraid that they are a very different models.

That being said, you can easily argue that it is tied to the form, since you literally can not enter combat without changing to worgen form. HOWEVER, to argue your case in point, the transformation does not, at this point in time, confer a buff.

Also of note is that in that video, he is actively turning worgen form off after combat.

This is precisely the reason I dislike the animations showcased in the video. He looks like he should be running on all fours, but just... doesn't. New worgen just doesn't live up to the awesomeness of the old.

Well if your going to say that then make the taurens run on all fours I love taurens but the females when they run lean forward like they are too topheavy or like they have a back pain  - no offense to taurens anywhere I <3 you all. /shrug - I love these worgen but then again you cant please everybody all I know is I cant wait. The transformation dosent give you a buff its purely cosmetic in between forms however in combat you are forced into worgen form wether you want to or not and as far as I can tell you dont ever hve to be a human if you dont want to.

Already said the form doesn't confer a buff, Nevar. And you can be in worgen form 24/7 if you want, though I kind of have to wonder if it goes away when you die.

Leaks. And I agree Nevar, I saw the dying animation (haha if I made a worgen hunter I'd be FD'ing all the time, it's an awesome animation!!).

I am very curious about how they'll determine the human form's look. Most likely I'll stay in form all the time, if I wanted a human I'd make one... but I can see the transformation being useful when RPing the character. Perhaps. >_<

It definitely has RP applications. I imagine that many RPers will have their characters unhappy with their transformation into Worgen, and have the character try to keep themselves in what they consider their true form... until they inevitably lose control and go wolf. Even if the character doesn't mind/likes their new furry form, I'd imagine that it suits practical purposes not to walk around the city freaking out the poor townsfolk with their monstrous features.

Plus, yanno... gotta be hard to slam back drinks with that muzzle.

...of course, all the wannabe badasses will just disregard all of the above.

I will probably never (or very rarely) be in human form on my worgen. If I wanted to see a human, I'd just roll a human (obviously I know RP plays a different role for some people). But mainly, I want a worgen female warrior because so far, I think plate gear looks terrible on all of the alliance female races. The helmets always look humongous and the armor just doesn't seem to fit right. So if it looks better on worgen, that's what my warrior will be. :)

Sarayana wrote: I agree, the female worgen do look a lot like the female draenei. I also happen to love the way the female draenei move, so I don't mind so much. I do see some movements that are more feral, so if they manage a good balance, I'll be happy.

I don't think the male worgen are built over the draenei frame though. I'm thinking more like male troll when I see it (and I hate their pose too, the slouch gives me a back ache just looking at it... >_<).
The male does really have the Troll male slouch. And I love how the draenei move also. I mean over half of my alts are draenei be it male or female...Yes I have a thing for spacegoats. I just see the female worgen walk more like a rabbit right now...I played Bloody Roar and Alice the Rabbit has the same hind leg position.
But I will love walking as one, I am a walk/run maniac...something about seeing a character walk makes me happy.

actually the male worgen stand the same as the old models right now so there are still hints of the old model in there like the running animation seems like a sped up version of the old worgen patrol/walk animation
