5.2 bestiary

Unread post by Wain »

The following is a list of all the beasts from 5.2 that I've noted are either (i) tameable, or (ii) untameable, but from tameable families.

This is different from Kalli's list in that it only documents what's going into the Petopia database and covers boring new tameables (and untameables) as well as interesting ones.

Please let me know if anything's missing. If you test a beast as tameable, please actually try to tame it. It could be flagged but in practice give the "already controlled" message.

Thanks :)

Spirit Beasts

Must be reduced to 20% health before taming. Hits very hard, so kiting is probably necessary. Runs fast so Aspect of the Cheetah could be useful. Scatter Shot and Entangling Roots do NOT work.

Look: spectralporcupinegreen

Must be reduced to 20% health before taming. Hits very hard, so kiting is probably necessary. Casts an interruptable heal while moving. Scatter Shot, Silencing Shot, and Entangling Roots work.

Must be reduced to 20% health before taming. Hits very hard, so kiting is probably necessary. Can be deadly if you are too far or too close, so needs to be kited at just the right distance. Scatter Shot and Entangling Roots do NOT work.

Updated:

- Sandsnipe Crabs were renamed Luminescent Crawlers and changed colours to deepseacrabbiolucentblue and deepseacrabbiolucentpurple
- added Shaol'mara and Zeb'tula Raptors, which were humanoids in the last patch. Now beasts, but untameable
- added Bloodrender Devilsaur, which is tameable

I've only found one thing to add in the latest patch: the Zandalari Fleshrender (blue devilsaur), which is tameable and can be found close to the shore on a couple of places on the island, with a group of Zandalari. It has a quest mark on its portrait but I'm not sure what quest it's for.

I saw those guys too - I'm not sure what they're for either. Did you have phasing issues with them too?

One of them but not the other.

The group over by Shaol'mara was phased from close, but I could see it by further back. I pulled it by sending a pet in. The other one was over on the kind of inlet shore between the citadel to the east/north and the Sunreavers area off to the west. That didn't seem to be phased.

There are also now little Stunted Direhorns (id 70059) in cages (and one hiding under a table!) in Troll camps in the south-east of the Isle of Giants. They are level 90, flagged tameable, and come in a range of colours. I saw every colour except white, and I wouldn't be surprised if they come in that colour too.

However they're also all friendly. I wonder what they're for.

These aren't the same as the delayed battle pet of the same name. These are beasts and have a different ID to the pet.

Maybe they will become tameable and be tiny (for direhorns) when tamed!

The pics just reinforce my decision to switch from my original intention of taming a blue Direhorn to now going after an orange one. In my opinion neither blue model looks realistic but if you're not going for realism you should go more over the top like the original much brighter and colorful blue skin did. The new one is just too subdued and dark to me. The orange one looks pretty realistic and there is also the fact that the Alliance mount will be pretty much the same color. That seals the deal for me.

I agree. For me, I think the original blue direhorn was the saddest loss when they changed. I thought it was really beautiful. As for the mount, though, I thought last reports were that the Alliance one was the clay orange-brown (which made no sense). But maybe they fixed that to blue.

No, I meant that the Alliance mount is "golden" and would match up with the orange Direhorn.

So the new python models are only used for mini-pets right now, no beasts?

Only one update with the latest patch so far. A red or brown direhorn called "Direhorn". Go figure. They're up in the Stormsea Landing area, which is now open, and are flagged as tameable (can't test for certain as I don't have the taming technique).

There were only three I could see, so I'm not yet sure if it comes in other colours.

UPDATE: brown and red, not just red.
