Either that, or the Burrunjor and the Bunyip. Or Alien Big Cats, whichever you prefer. There's also the occasional Megalania Prisca sighting, and then there's of course some sightings of Thylacoleo Carnifex and Thylacines still floating around.cowmuflage wrote:She needs the other to watch out for Drop bears!

It's Varanus priscus now, apparently. And while I appreciate the consistency, it annoys me that we had to turn prisca into priscus.Crotalus Horridus wrote:[...]There's also the occasional Megalania Prisca sighting [...]
Although to be fair, I still go around yelling, "Look! Megalania!" in Wal-Mart when I am bored.

Blah. Say you are leaving for a week and you still check up on us. I see you online now Wain! When will I be able to put my evil plan into motion of taking over the forums if you never really leave? *pouts*
Just kidding. Have fun on your vacation.

Today we're at a kind of tourist park that has a few cable car and rail rides through the mountains. So some boring long queues.Wassa wrote:Blah. Come now Wain, breeding has its benefits. Absolutely obedient slave labour after only a few years of dealing with poop and tears and whining.
Enjoy the holiday, regardless of snotty-nosed, badly trained children.

I'll leave that to my sisters. It's fun being an uncle. I get to wind them up, teach them bad habits and then send them home for their parents to deal with

Re: Back in a week
I'm back
The trip was amazing. Such a beautiful area. And too many yummy cocktails at the hotel! The temperature was crisp but sunny, no sign of clouds.
Sorry guys, no koalas or goannas. We did see a platypus though.
I'll include a few shots below.
This is the hotel where we stayed, Tha Carrington in Katoomba. It was simply amazing. It's been running since the 1880s and is fancy yet comfortable with great service, and was surprisingly cheap:
A couple of views of the Blue Mountains, with me standing there like a dork. The blue haze that gives them their name is actually common in mountain regions here because it's caused by all the Eucalyptus oil in the air:
"The Three Sisters" are the most iconic rock formation of the area:
Down at Jenolan Caves we saw a platypus. Unfortunately it was hard to get a clear shot as it didn't come very close, but it was swimming around happily both days we checked:
Some images of formations inside the limestone caves we saw. Really stunning.
Me gazing up at the Pillar of Hercules:
I felt like I was in the church of some ancient god:
Like Cthulhu, only prettier:
A couple of other formations:
