Gahz'rooki Needs to Shut Up!

I completed the weekly quest Battlefield: Barrens to receive a Radical Mojo. Of course, being a pet collector, the choice of what to do with it was obvious. Some gear... or a FANCY NEW HYDRA MINIPET?!
I named mine Trigore, after the rare in the Wailing Caverns.



A new companion with good abilities and a completely unique model, also being a species untameable by hunters? There's gotta be a catch!

This is unbearable after about, say, a minute of having him out. I understand that the sound is linked with the "heads fighting" idle animation in all hydras, but could it be set to only play while clicking on the pet?
If we don't speak up, the pet could be stuck with this problem for the entire patch, at least! Let's get this fixed while 5.3 is relatively fresh.

That method was used to fix the Kun-Lai Runt, which emitted angry snarls and loud thumping footsteps every time it moved.

The sound is annoying. The ones tamed by hunters make the sound too, and just as often. I've still yet to actually hear a hydra in the wild make the sound #.#

I love it <3 Reminds me of Gahzara, my Wotlk Ghost Hydra (who is now my sole companion as I switched to Survival). I wish pets were MORE like this, an active part of our gameplay, instead of some lifeless stump that follows us.

I do wish that companions would make non-click idle noises more often.

But four seconds is too often. I honestly can't see how anyone could tolerate it without having companion sounds turned off, or their master volume set very low.
Every 60 seconds would be OK. Two minutes would be more tolerable. Every three or four minutes would be golden. That way, it still seems like your companion is active and not a "lifeless stump." Conversely, it doesn't make it seem that your pet had a major dose of Kafa Beans that never wear off.

I basically only completed that weekly quest for the ability to have a pet hydra. If its constant sound effects annoy me to the point where I can't use it, shouldn't that be fixed?

But maybe it's because I have a friend who uses a hydra pet a bit and I'm used to the constant slavering and gurgling

At least I find it way less irritating than the Pandaren Monk

If you can mod away the cat slobberyawn, and the other noises that bug you, couldn't the same mod be used to remove Ghaz'rooki's gurgling, at least till they tone him down a tad?

Try being in my 10 man raid where one of the hunters had a croco-hydra *and* Gahz'rooki out at the same time. Ugh. It's worse than the constantly yawning cats we had for a while.

I also went for the pet first and then after pulling him out and naming him Untamable (only hunters seem to get this other then thinking it it just named for the DM one..) and I was walking around wondering what that sounds was (another person's pet? a mount? a addon?). Nope ur right that lil guy. Honestly now that I know it is him it does not really bug me. I like when mini pets have sounds and animations when idle. Maybe someone can whip up a addon to mute it like they did for the ppl that are bugged by hunter's cats.
