It COULD be the opposite to the Sky Battles. Kinda like 5th gen's Triple vs Rotation battles.

I am not to picky about the secondary typing of starters evolution...But I would like to see things get a little more...varied? Add a new twist to starters, new type access, and open the doors a bit more on starter flavours.

So did anyone else ever pick a starter Pokémon at any point and then just throw it in the box and use other Pokémon? Cause that's exactly what I did with Diamond. All the starters, in my opinion, looked utterly ridiculous. I haven't even played Diamond properly yet since I thought most of that gen looked so dumb. >___< Honestly I kinda liked the Black & White generation of Pokémon, but not so much Diamond & Pearl. I did like Shinx/Luxio/Luxray a good bit though.

I've only ever done that once, and it felt very awkward...I just feel like its tradition to use the starter through the main gameplay. Gen 3 was the first/only time that i was really not a fan of the starters...Sceptile and Swampert ended up growing on me, but blaziken still makes me shake my head.

For gen 1: Charmander beats the others by a loooooooooong shot.

Gen 2: Cyndaquil was my easy choice, and not far behind was Totodile.

Gen 3: Mudkip inched ahead of treecko, but all where pretty low on my list.

Gen 4: Turtwig and piplup fought for first, and chimchar took an easy last. Torterra won out with its awesomness.

Gen 5: Oshawott pulled ahead because Samurott is pure sweetness. I love tepig but hate its evolutions, and snivy is...alright.

Gen 6: Fennekin has my attention, but its evo can make or break it. Chespin comes second, it looks like it has potential, and froakie is lack luster for me.

5th gen starters to me suck tepig is the only one I like not his evolutions tho. Just tepig and tepig only.. I dunno not a huge fan of most of the designs in that gen.

For 6th gen? froakie is the only starter I think looks good. The other do look kinda bad. *shrug*

Gen 1: Charmander was always my favourite but I still liked the other two. They're classics, after all. But eeeeeveryone likes Charizard!

Gen 2: Again, I like all three (Well I hate Chikorita but Bayleef and Meganium are awesome.) but Cyndaquil was my choice.

Gen 3: I wasn't a huge fan of any of these ones but I did find Sceptile kinda cool so Treecko it was. (I have a friend who ADORES Blaziken but I hate it. >.<)

Gen 4: Already stated my distaste for all three of them, all evolutions. If I *had* to pick one, it'd be Empoleon.

Gen 5: Funny one for me. I started out by ADORING Snivy but I played White with no knowledge of any of the Gen 5 Pokémon... so when I saw Bianca's ugly little Oshawott grow into the adorable Dewott and then the AMAZING Samurott... Let's just say I started White again recently and picked Oshawott. (':

Gen 6: I want to say and stay with Fennekin, but if it's a fire/fighting and ends up like Blaziken, I'll end up hating it. Chespin is cute so I have high hopes for that guy, especially if Fennekin doesn't end up being as good as I'd like to hope. And then there's Froakie which holds zero interest for me.

Gen 1: I love all of them equally. I can't ever pick, so I find a way to get all 3 if I use any of them on a team.

Gen 2: Meganium is my favorite because it was the first pokemon I ever truly adored. Typhlosion is very close behind though, and Feraligatr is just a big 'no' to me. I don't like him at all.

Gen 3: Again, I love all three of them equally. I think they're super cool, and despite what some people say about Sceptile, I've used all 3 very well.

Gen 4: Piplup is my absolute favorite starter to date. I love penguins so much that there is no doubt. Torterra would be my second, hate the fire monkey.

Gen 5: I barely got to play gen 5 before I got my pokemon games/DS stolen, but Serperior was my favorite. Sleek and elegant, he just stuck out to me. Samurott is pretty neat as well, but I don't like that he goes from an otter to a beaver to a sea lion. It just doesn't work for me, as well as oshawott being one of the ugliest pokemon I've ever seen, made Serperior my choice for Gen 5.

Isn't he just? He looks like a mini-clown to me or something. I've no idea why, but a clown is what comes to mind when I see him. And yeah, I found their evolutions a bit weird too, like when I first saw Samurott in Bianca's party I had to look it up to realise it was her Dewott that evolved and I was like, "Wth it looks so cool but it looks NOTHING like the previous evolution!"

It's funny. To me, Oshawott looks ridiculous, but Dewott I find adorable and Samurott to be downright epic. At least the first evolution evolves quickly? :P

1st gen: I liked all 3 but I preferred Venusaur

2nd: Feraligatr is one of my most favorite pokemon of all time (alongside Deoxys)

3rd: Blaziken was my choice here. I liked him a lot!

4th: Torterra and Infernape were greatly adored by me. I LOVE monkeys so Infernape instantly had my sttention...then I saw how epic Torterra looked and I loved it.

5th gen: I like Emboar best. I kinda like the design. Samurott is badass too. Don't care much for the snakes.

6th: So far Froakie has my attention. Its been a while since I started with a water type in a then-new region (last time was 2nd gen)...and I see some great badass potential in its evolutions.

Gen 1: I picked a Squirtle and leveled it all the way to 100, and it'll always have a little niche in the eight year old portion of my heart. But as I grew older I found myself more attracted to Bulbasaur.

Gen 2: Hard an extremely difficult time picking. My first was Cyndaquil, but then I picked Totodile. Chikorita was too bland in combat for me, but it was so...cute...

Gen 3: Picked Blaziken because it was just the most powerful on a strategic level, and never looked back.

Gen 4: Torterra and Empoleon were too good to pass up.

Gen 5: Again, the Grass and Water starters. I grabbed Snivy on my White version, and then Oshawott on my copy of White 2. I have Black 2, so maybe I'll grab Emboar.

Gen 6: Keeping with the tradition of preference, I'm sticking with Chespin.

Gen 1: Charmander cause I didn't really like the other starters, I have a thing for fire, and I still dream today of having a legit shiny Charizard

Gen 2: Cyndaquill hands down. Typhlosion all the way. Just. All my love to Typhlosion. Love Meganium but Typhlosion. Typhlosionnnnnnnnnn

Gen 3: Mudkip. Before 'Mudkipz' was a thing. I wanted the Swampert. He was awesome.

Gen 4: I loved Torterra but omfg impossible for me to use grass starters. I've used em in previous games when I get bored and restart the game (of course transferring my fav pokemon to my bf's game to stay safe xD) and I just... I just can't do it. So I ended up going with the monkey cause bf chose the penguin

Gen 5: Snivyy~ Didn't like the other starters one little bit, like, argh, bleeeehhhhh. But omfg Serperior. SERPERIOR. I suffered terribly through White just to have him. I failed, so hard, so many times, had all my pokemon out level him, but I adored him to bits. Then my DS, AR, and game got stolen. I have White again, but since I have a second AR now, I went with the pig to try and race through the game to where I was before. Sadly I'm only on route 3 still. White 2, I chose the water guy cause I wanted someone to slap all my HM's on XD

Gen 6: Still waiting on evolutions as eveyone else is, but I'll probably still kep my choice of Fennekin, and if I don't like any of the starters evolutions, then I'll just throw em in a box like I did with half my starters, and play with the new pokemon

I wanna join :D

Gen 1: I liked all three. Charmander was originally my favorite, of course, but Squirtle has grown on me so I'd have to say Squirtle.

Gen 2: I LOVE Totodile! but Feraligatr is nothing compared to Typhlosion. I will never have a most favorite starter for this gen because I love Totodile, hate Cyndaquil, adore Typhlosion and care nothing for Feraligatr.

Gen 3: TREECKO! I love Swampert, and Blaziken grew on me eventually but SCEPTILE FTW!

Gen 4: Like Snowy, this was my least favorite gen. SO many disappointments for me. I only have Platinum because Giratina is my second favorite legendary. When I do play it I pick Turtwig, but I don't care much for it and I care even less for the other two.

Gen 5: I love Snivy but Samurott has become one of my favorite starters of all time (second to the tied Totodile and Typhlosion, of course)

Gen 5: I love foxes so I'm going to say Fennekin for now but I feel like Chespin has great potential like Oshawatt did. Froakie is cute too ^-^ but I would probably only pick him if the other two completely flopped.

Picked up a used copy of Soulsilver. It's already got Lugia on it. I'll probably beat the e4 and go catch Ho-oh before I transfer everything off it and start a new game. So damn close to that shiny charm. Then a ton of deino/eevee/ralts breeding!

I've only played the original and now I'm playing Black 2, so I have minimal experience with the starters. However, based on looks alone, it'd probably go something like this:

Gen 1: Charmander/Charizard would be my favorite (Charmeleon is okay), with Bulbasaur/Ivysaur/Venusaur next. Squirtle and Wartortle were cute, but I couldn't stand Blastoise's cannons and so I never ever used it as my starter.

Gen 2: Chikorita and Cyndaquil for the first evolution; Typhlosion and Feraligatr for the final evolutions. Sooo, I'd have probably gone with Cyndaquil then.

Gen 3: Eh, they all look kinda merf to me. I guess I think Blaziken looks the coolest out of the final evolutions, but that doesn't necessarily mean I like it.

Gen 4: Turtwig/Grotle/Torterra fo' sho'. Next would have been Chimchar/Monferno/Infernape, and I don't really care for the penguin one at all.

Gen 5: I took Oshawott! I personally think it's adorable, and I like all of its evolutions. I adore Tepig but don't care a whole lot for its other evolutions, and all of the Snivy/Servine/Serperior evolutions are alright, but I'm not really sure how I feel about its snooty appearance.

Gen 6: Undecided, of course, until I see the rest of the evolutions. But right now it's between Chespin and Fennekin. Froakie's eyes are just awful and look like they belong in some other goofy cartoon, in my opinion.

Oh, and btw, I have found my new favorite pokemon EVAR - the impossibly cute Joltik:
