When a Pokémon has it's hidden ability, does it replace it's normal ability? Because 'hidden' makes it sound like you can't see it. It's just that I remembered that Ninetales' hidden ability is Drought, which sounds major useful, and I've never gone after a Pokémon's hidden ability before. I thought if I'm breeding for a shiny Vulpix with a modest nature I may as well go for it's hidden ability too, I just don't know how I know I've got it, so to say.
Since the chance to get a Pokémon with it's hidden ability from the friend safari is meant to be about 1/5, I thought I may as well go for it.
Also, how do hidden abilities transfer across through breeding with a Ditto? Does it have to be a female? I've never worked with hidden abilities before. D:
To pass the Hidden ability, you must be either a female with the ability breeding with anything, or a male with the Hidden ability breeding with Ditto.
To check if you have the ability...just look at the pokemon's stat page.
Note that it is NOT guarenteed that the ability will be transferred. It may take a few tries
Shellshock for Blastoise? Kurama (if boy?) for Ninetails 
Archibald (if boy) for Archeops XD Then Banette would have to be Batman (if boy)
