Fingers crossed that they'll be faction mounts. I don't mind a soul-numbing rep grind if it means I get one (or all) of these guys!

And in case you should wonder, and in case you should care...on that night of all nights, we were already there.

How we could get them though, who knows. Could be that they are for achievements gained in a 10 man raid, 25 man raid, 10 man heroic, 25 man heroic. I kind of hope not though as I want one of those and I'm not a big achievement chaser, especially raid achievements.
I'm not a fan of the raid achievements either. I'm doing the one for the Violet Proto-Drake. I'm totally not looking forward to having to put out the fires..That's gonna take a long time.

It's easy to do the midsummer it's just very time consuming traveling all over the world putting out fires.

That's true. I'm not sure how many fires there are but I'm gonna gain a couple hundred gold from it.

The Midsummer Fire festival is also the perfect time to finish your Explorer achievements and to get all the flight paths you might be missing. :D You could also just casually ride around, taking pretty old wold screenshots while doing the fires - it's probably the last summer you'll be spending in the current Azeroth, better make it something to remember. ;)

*ahem* Back on topic, the Deepholme drakes look a bit too.. cluttered for my taste. o.O They'll probably look way better in action, though. ^^

Edit: 600th post! \m/

Top right drake = <3!
I'm just crossing my fingers these guys will be reminiscent of the Nether Drakes - hard to obtain, but don't require some crazy amount of/low drop rate for high-end raiding or PvPing...

I wouldnt mind if it was pvp tiss not as bad as raids imo. Still nothing beats that felling you get when you win a roll on a rare mount NOTHING!.

Oh, I'd love another faction like Nether Drakes. Nice story line, many quests of different nature (read: not boring), multiple ways of obtaining reputation (eggs), the racing quests... Win! I can compare them to Sons of Hodir in Wraith - I know some consider this faction boring, but I thoroughly enjoyed the lore and quests.

Here's the collection I had shared before to give another idea of them:
Image

These are referred to as Deepholm Drakes, and appear to be the same dragon without armor. The head spikes are a little different, as well as the shade of color:

They seem pretty similar and just given WoW's trend of rewarding dragon mounts I feel they must be obtainable by players somehow. I really hope that they are a type of faction reward and it lets you choose a color or even all of them, as sometimes only one or two get chosen at first... like with the hippogryph mounts. Seeing as how there are four in very different colors what if they were tied to elements? Something like choosing a side of an elemental faction and that being a higher reward? Bit of a long shot idea, but I guess I'm hoping for something more than just a raid drop or raid achievement.

I'm loving that red drake...not sure why. Probably because it would match my BE's hair quite nicely :)

Hmm how come? Is it just because of the skin/gem color combo? The lack of added color that the armor gives? I imagine the rocky textures are going to be pretty similar if not exactly alike. I like the non armored models a lot but as a mount I wouldn't pick that color combination first if it were available.

Something neat about the tails that I pick up from the animation is how they really seem to have a different shape near the end, they seem to flat on the bottom with ridges on either side, right before the spikes.

I can understand not liking the other version as much because it's more like a standard drake. I think what is nice about the mounts is the fact that the head spikes are more along the forehead instead of the back, seeming like a newer take on drakes. The teeth don't stand out so much either, or at all. o_o

From the Cataclysm Press Event came the following:
Deepholm

Therazane the Stonemother will be hanging out here. She'll run a quest hub with dailies and a rep similar to the Sons of Hodir, but, you know, better.
Perhaps the drake mounts will be a reward from this?
