Do "owlcats" have an official in game name yet anyways? If they're gryphcats or gryfelines then "gryph" wouldn't even be a stretch for a pet family names. They kind of look like they're related to both gryphons and hippogryphs (more than those two look like they're related to each other). To me, this recolor looks less like an owl and more like a gryphon/eagle:

Many have names like "Feathered Prowler" or the like. But one name I've seen in various areas is "Feathermane". May not be official, but its fitting
It has been learned via one of the Feral Druid artifact skins that the Feathermane are viewed as a sacred animal of Elune.

Me too, I agree that Gryphs would work really well for a group family of Gryphons and Hippogryphs, and these owls cats would also fit in rather well too.Xota wrote:Do "owlcats" have an official in game name yet anyways? Edit**
Was having a poke around the net and had no idea how many Gryphon variants there are

Pretty darn cool

The more I think about it and see it, the more I like it. Gryphs! Feathermanes! Diredowns, idc!

I love that chartSpiritBinder wrote:

I've removed Mana Sabers as a family. The mana sabers have all been moved into the Spirit Beasts and I can confirm that it was a deliberate change.
Whether we get a new Exotic family or not, I don't know. My gut tells me 'no' at this late stage, and I'd advise nobody to get their hopes up too much. But we could still see one, and it's still hard not to speculate and get excited over what may come

Yeah, Feathermanes sound better than Owlcats, imo

Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160514
I am 100% okay with the mana sabers being spirit beasts. At this point in the game, rarity isn't a big deal, and I'm FINALLY glad to see more SBs that aren't that weird transparent thing. Don't get me wrong, I love my white ghost saber and all that but being able to see his eyes through his butt is just weird. It wouldn't be so bad if they had the ghost effect like stuff in MoP and WoD had, but I think that's a buff type effect whereas the weird-transparent-thing is inherent in the model's skinning.

Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160514
Is there going to be any change to the availability of the mana sabers in the end I wonder? The dark purple one looks to be rare, but are the other two skin colors going to remain common? I really like the look of them and they were my top priority as a tame one Legion hit-I was actually planning on making one (once I decided on a color) my default pet for Legion. I will camp them if I have to, but it would be nice to have an easily accessible spirit beast finally.Wain wrote: I've removed Mana Sabers as a family. For BM, especially, the new pets have been the one thing to look forward to about the spec.
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for the owlcats-those are in my top favorite models for the expansion so far.

Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160514
I see no problem with common Mana Sabers being spirit beasts. Once upon a time, having a single Spirit Beast was a thing to be proud of, but even then every hunter camped to get one anyway.
As the years went on, more and more spirit beasts were added. With X-realm hopping and a declining population, certain spirit beasts are easier than ever to find. And with Gara, you'll only need to dedicate around an hour and a half to getting a guaranteed spirit beast buddy. By mid-WoD pretty much every BM hunter who wanted Gara had her.
For those who don't like the look of Gara or never wanted to do the quest anyway, these mana sabers are a great way for players to have a Spirit Beast pet with minimal effort. And the harder-to-catch spirit beasts will remain elusive.

I agree, by the time you have a character high enough to tame a mana saber anyways, I'm positive you could easily find one of the other SBs. The porcupines especially. As someone else mentioned, they're pretty much always up nowadays.Equeon wrote:I see no problem with common Mana Sabers being spirit beasts. I'm glad the mana saber family was dropped, though it is a shame we might not have time to see a replacement family. Alas.

The dark purple one is easy to obtain. Myonix is a vignette that respawns a minute or so after being killed or tamed.Shade wrote:Is there going to be any change to the availability of the mana sabers in the end I wonder? I'm still formatting it, but so far here's the official Petopia page for the pet looks that should become available in the pre-Legion patch:

Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160514
I'm happy that the manasabers are now in the SB family ............ however ................. it kind of sucks cause BM is just so broken. I cannot help but think /feel that this could be a way to placate BM hunters.
"Yes. Yes. We know your spec is horribly broken but LOOK! Shiny pretty kitties!"
Yes that's my being dramatic but it's the best way I can relay my feelings on it.
I am in NO WAY saying I'm ungrateful for all the amazing tamables Blizz is providing us. But I'd rather have less new beasts and my beloved spec fixed than more shinies to add to a useless class.
Although I could end up making a hypocrite out of myself if we were given Rocs, feathermanes, gryphs, etc etc.
I NEED A MOIST OWLETTE!!!
Wain - Love the new page. Way cool.

Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160514
Yeah taming isn't a negative, like enslaving. Plus we use them as taxi's which I think would be much more demeaning than forming a deep bond/friendship with them. The same reasonable suspension of disbelief could easily apply to both and all be well. Back in WoD beta, I sent in a suggestion for a quest line with the Arakkoa where once you reached a certain rep with them (and trust level) they taught hunters how to tame Dream Ravens. Its much more interactive than a Tome that would drop, and is ripe with lore potential. They are gorgeous models, and would fit perfectly in a family with rocs etc.
Re: Legion pet lists - UPDATED 20160514
I think the big ones that all use the same rigging (the pterrorwings, rocs, dire ravens) should all go in a family called Dreadwings. Make 'em exotic since mana sabers aren't a new family anymore...and honestly they're pretty damn exotic looking.
