I ended up doing the 'new bar' thing and... actually I don't know why I didn't think of it before. Not only did I ditch the tree button, I rearranged it more to my preferences. Most excellent.
And yeah, Shadowform is permanent. BUT. Remember that the glyph to make it less dark still exists, and if you really want to ditch it for running around town or RP or whatever, you can just flip to a different spec. Flipping specs doesn't require inn-areas or anything!

Ohhhh, so THAT'S why I couldn't find the button for it. It's not there anymore. I was wondering if Bonejangles was glitched since I had it turned on before the patch and thought he was just stuck. Well, I suppose he is, but not for the reason I feared.
