Sorry but it doesn't look like a "massive shrink" to me. Honestly I think since it's allowed to be kept it should be made the same size as the tamed direhorn pets are now.
Talihawk - These were a exploit tamed pet during the legion invasions that is no longer available.
Unfortunately Talihawk, the baby direhorn was an exploit that some of us abused in the pre-launch event before Legion. You could be given a debuff that let neutral and friendly NPCs attack you. Folks found a way to take it to a baby direhorn that was mislabeled since Mists of Pandaria as tameable, but it was friendly. Because you were hostile to literally everything, you could tame the direhorn in a very short window. It's impossible to obtain now, both due to the buff not being available and the NPC being flagged as untameable.
As for its size, I wish mine would shrink. I love the little (big) thing, but I hate having it out in dungeons for two reasons; it's too big, Hati is too big, and people will complain. I always put it away and swap to something else when I go into a dungeon, just so people aren't annoyed.
I advocate for immersive features that will never happen. Why do I even bother?
I also do things in WoW that maaaaay not be fully intended. Beta testing live content!
Actually I think the shrink is a good thing - it means you're getting to keep your very rare pet, just in a size that won't get in the way for other players.
? Mine is exactly the same, no shrink at all. I think you may have picked up an errant debuff or a GM targeted you for specific shrinking.
I've noticed sometimes in raids my Direhorn will shrink a little (about as tall as a Tauren instead of the Mammoth mount) but if I dismiss and summon him, it goes back to normal.
Perhaps try entering an arena or timewalking with him? Otherwise I think a GM ticket is your only hope - could try abandoning him and then petitioning a GM for restoration, but that's risky!
