Re: Panthara taming puzzle-solving thread
The same happened with the Helm of Artful Dodging, The Shoe Shine Kit, a few of the Hidden Artifact skins, etc.
Re: Panthara taming puzzle-solving thread
They never apologized as far as I'm aware - just fixed it once the players flooded the forums about it, having gone through the data and realizing NO ONE had it, and Blizzard just ducked their heads in silence until the angry mob died down.Qraljar wrote:Gives me flashbacks of when they insisted that the Sha of Anger mount was implemented properly after what - months of it not dropping? And then one day they checked it and they were like "Oh we apologize it wasn't correctly implemented."
I'm still nettled at how that was handled. I lost a lot of coins I could have used for raiding, trying for a Sha mount that was never going to drop.

Seems like it is indeed in the game and intended to be difficult to figure out.

Re: Panthara taming puzzle-solving thread
Glad he responded, but it is odd that the method to taming a beast that can be found all over Argus is difficult. Also strange that the Panthara Apex is still tamable.
I still cannot help but question if the intended method is working or not.

Re: Panthara taming puzzle-solving thread
I'm pretty sure the Panthara Apex was meant to be subject to the same taming restrictions as the others, and it still needs to be fixed. I guess they could have changed their minds and made it a freebie, though, but probably. not.

Well, it's not the Disgusting Feast. The panthara don't respond to it at all, nor does consuming it yourself do anything to help you tame them
I finally found more imps tonight - there's a cave full of Felspawn Imps at the far north of Antoran Wastes, across a bridge. Farming up enough Imp Meat (you need 100) took maybe 10 minutes. You combine the meat to form a Disgusting Feast object in your bags. Using it lays down a typical feast table, only coloured green, for anyone to sample. Eating from it (I tested maybe 5 times) just makes you stand up and vomit. There were no other buffs or long-term effects that I could see. It's an amusing little extra, though there's already a number of items and foods in the game that make you barf.

You'd have thought that if, by the time the patch was close to release, no one had any idea on how to tame them, then Blizzard would rethink how you actually tame it, or properly check it
At least if it's not figured out by the time the patch hits, I can run around and try a few things out as well. I'd suggest the tar tray that slowly enemies, but I feel like that's already been done?

Yep, tar trap (and other stun or slow traps) have all been tried
I guess they just want it as something that may not be before before release day.

Re: Panthara taming puzzle-solving thread
Could be. Would explain why no one has found anything.
Re: Panthara taming puzzle-solving thread
It may also require something that's further in (since its supposed to be unlocked 'chapters' or whatever). But I figure that also probably isn't the case since I imagine those of you extensively checking on the PTR are thoroughly 'deep' into the portions of the area/story unlocked thus far.
So maybe it's something tied to the raid when it opens? I can't imagine what, but that's the only thing that seems to remain.

Re: Panthara taming puzzle-solving thread
I've done every quest that ia available on the ptr, but nothing has changed. I doubt it is tied to the raid, since that doesn't make a ton of sense as to how that would allow us to tame them, and it won't open till November.
Re: Panthara taming puzzle-solving thread
I just tried with a combination - Catseye Elixir, Track Hidden and Flare. It didn't work. I'm not even sure if they stack for detecting stealth.
There's a better potion than Catseye Elixir but I couldn't find any on my server. If you have any Elixir of the Searching Eye on your AH, or have an alchemist that can make it, it might be worth trying. Buy some up then copy your toon to the PTR.

I could give that a try later on.

Just seems like a normal cooking recipe. Besides, Panthara don't hunt fish. They mainly hunt magical energy.

They prevent you from casting or attacking for one minute.

Re: Panthara taming puzzle-solving thread
I'm suspecting it could be like some of the puzzle mounts and tames they add in: things aren't set into the game until it's already made it to live, in order to give people the chance to figure things out. Or at the very least, things that would be hard/impossible to figure out during the PTR.Myzou wrote:https://twitter.com/Muffinus/status/900518024045674496

From what Muffinus is saying, it's definitely deliberate that it's hard to figure out, though.

Has anyone tried the Darkmoon Faire potion? Hard to disappear into the darkness when you're already in the darkness.

Re: Panthara taming puzzle-solving thread
I'm leaning toward this as well...maybe it's not implemented in the PTR so it's more fun to figure out live? Even if it is tricky, I have a hard time understanding why they'd choose just a random subspecies of the cat family to be super challenging to tame. Maybe once the patch is here we'll figure it out, might still take some experimenting, but ultimately I can't fathom it being this impossible.Kurasu wrote:I'm suspecting it could be like some of the puzzle mounts and tames they add in: things aren't set into the game until it's already made it to live, in order to give people the chance to figure things out. I could be completely wrong of course, but for now I don't think I'll spend time trying until the patch hits.
