The Hunt For Nuramoc

Unread post by Gumballs »

Since I discovered Petopia and rolled my troll hunter, I have been enthralled with chimaeras, Nuramoc in particular. So, since I knew I would be dinging 70 today, I HAD to have him. My team is very colourful (i love colour and variety) and I knew he was meant to be on my team.

This morning I checked on my warrior who has a 310 mounts to see if he was up.. and he was! Now all I had to do was hope no one killed or tamed him until that afternoon when I got off school and dinged 70. As I'm leveling through 69, I keep nervously /who'ing Netherstorm, and the zone is empty the whole time. As soon as I level I pop on my warrior and BAM Nuramoc is still there.

I ask my boyfriend to fly to Netherstorm since my hunter doesn't have the FP and go tag him for me. He goes there and I slowly make my way. But now, there are THREE other hunters, all BM, suddenly in the zone. I start to panic, hoping that I get him. My npcscan goes off... and it's not him. /cry

I can't seem to find my purple guy, and NONE of the hunter's in the zone will respond to me asking if they have seen him at all, alive or dead or if they tamed him. I've asked in general, asked on Alliance side, and no one will respond. So it seems like I missed the window for him.. which really sucks. So I've parked my butt near one of his spawn points and I will keep checking.

Wish me luck guys. I just had to make a post because this was my first attempt at taming a rare spawn and the first time I've experienced the frustration that goes with taming one.
Rejoined the hunt after a lengthy break... feels good!

If you've seen him before, chances are you'll have to reset NPCScan's cache (or better still, get Silver Dragon Overlay and you'll never have to reset the cache ever again!), because if you say him on your Warrior, your hunter will have too. It'll be cached. If none of the other hunters responded, which is sort of typical behaviour between rare hunter to rare hunter (don't hurt me, it's an observation that varies server to server!), chances are one of the three got to him first and feels either too triumphant to care or horribly guilty for (maybe) killing it by accident. It does happen.

I do wish you the most luck ever finding this rather unique shiny purple two-headed winged one. I might give him a go on Ten since he's now in that level range...but first, 1k gold for dual-spec needed, ah ha ^^;

I had him at one point, and I'll get him back one day. It's almost as difficult to tame him as it is to find him, and not for the reasons you'd think. He's a flyer therefore he does not have to be over land all the time. Hunters need to tame on foot and herein lies the problem. You're flying and searching and searching and flying and you find him. You go to land but... wait... you're over an abyss and can't land to tame him. So you follow him get in range again, land...etc... you get the point. The other difficulty is that, again, he's flying and you need to figure out what height he's flying at. Sometimes you're too low, sometimes you're too high. Add in the random mobs walking around and it really makes the tame difficult. Well not difficult but very annoying. Everytime I;ve seen him he was along the southern edge of the zone. Hope this helps.

Oh... and I named mine PeopleEater. LMAO (Yes I know he has more than one eye)

Good luck in your flying purple machine of death hunt :D

I LOVE chimaeras.

One thing to keep in mind with Nuramoc is, his patrol paths are actually quite long. I don't know if you've seen the thott maps, but if you see him on a 'coast' of an island, he generally will patrol the entire length of that edge. So if you spot him then find him again, don't give up!

Good luck! Most of the times I've found him he's been at the northernmost path.

Best of luck! I've had him a few times, absolutely adored him, but had to give him up due to stable constraints. =s Don't give up! He's relatively easy to find on my server, since noone ever goes to Netherstorm nowadays. ;)

Best of luck to you my dear. You'll get him. Part of taming rares is being so bloody patient. It's very hard. ;)
Sending you a hunters prayer and luck.

Hey guys! Thanks for all your encouragement and kind words! After three days of constant logging on and flying around on my slow flyer hunting for him, I finally found him! My heart nearly stopped!

I almost lost him a few times because he kept flying away when I aggro'd mobs, but in the end I got him! I named him Februus, after a god of death and decay. (: He's the perfect addition to my colourful little party!

Tamed at 8:09 server time on Winterhoof-US. :)

Thanks for all your congrats and kind words guys! You really know how to make a hunter and her pets feel welcome on these forums. :)

Februus is doing awesome! I've been leveling up through northrend by questing and doing randoms and I'm alternating between all of my pets so they all get to see some action and have some r & r time. :)

He gets along with my other pets but he tries to nip at my poor little vanity pets. D: And Azunara, Februus has made it clear that his favourite snack is gnomes! :D
