Siren Race
Maybe I overlooked it, but nowhere have I seen anyone mention this amazing new race.
We have a legit mermaid race in WoW now!
Basically a humanoid winged serpent
I'd play one even over Naga. An amazing mix of deepsea eel/fish, serpent and mermaid.
Their batlike armfins/wings are a nice nod to mythology (where sirens started out winged before falling into the sea).
You can see friendly ones in the divebars around the isles.

Re: Siren Race
I think they are amazing as well! I think they use the wind serpent skeleton, though, which amuses me.

Re: Siren Race
^yes they do, which is why I said they're basically a winged serpent with a humanoid upper body
The skeleton goes very well with the fantasy of drakainas, echidnas, or melusines (all winged serpents/female dragons with a female torso).
Blizzard is the ultimate tease. They put in such an awesome race, yet jokes like chihuahua wolves, pandas, and anime foxes become playable instead
...that said, if windserpents or arcane serpents were eligible as a player race, I'd change my entire roster.

Re: Siren Race
I think they're a great design! I've loved them since I saw them in those BlizzCon previews. I don't think they've given any lore yet about their origins, have they?
They probably wouldn't be a great candidate for a new race unless they add a heap more complex animations, as I think they just hover and flap. Getting them to ride mounts, etc. would be a challenge! They'd be fun to play, though.

Re: Siren Race
No, there aren't any origins as to where they came from, though the majority of them are hostile towards other races, and as far as we have seen there are no male sirens.

Re: Siren Race
I do enjoy sea based races! I've not done enough Alliance stuff yet to have seen them in person yet but I can't wait. They look like a sea based Harpy to me.
I am a professional 2D animator :3

Then you're going to love Kul Tiras! Every farmer, baker and grandmother spouts nothing but sea-related metaphors and adages, and the street urchins are all obsessed with scurvy. Even the ones 100 km inland. You'd think they did nothing but dream of sailing all daycowmuflage wrote:I do enjoy sea based races.

Re: Siren Race
when I first spotted them in the preview, I thought they were a new kind of harpy, mixed with Naga or windserpent.cowmuflage wrote:They look like a sea based Harpy to me.
Didn't make the connection that it was the swimming animation and actually underwater.
I'd love some aquatic race, especially if it has a tail. Legs are boring and very unaquatic
They have done some very nice underwater areas in BfA all around the isles.
If you have a druid or fast underwater mount, check them out!
You'll find a Siren singer in the Zuldazar Dive Bar and another in Torga's Tavern, Nazmir.
The dive club mobs are all friendly/neutral to both factions.
I wonder if the underwater bars/clubs will have any purpose in the future.
Nice for roleplayers who like the sea, of course.
