I came back after I was gifted the new xpac. It came with a char boost which I used on my main, but I regret it now. I can start with TWW but I'm more interested in the dragon flight stuff (I saw the cool new updated netherwing dragon.) I've been playing XIV for the past couple years that I'm used to their linear quest system that picking where ever I left off is throwing me off. (because I don't know where I left off.) The last xpac I played was when the new troll race came out. (and I think I was working on getting my tome for taming undead hunter pets.)
Is it worth just exploring? I'm pretty much just looking for where I should go. I obviously want to catch up and get gear so I can do anything without scrutiny by the player base... (I still hear not great things, especially since there is this raider IO thingy that I need too?) IDK. Just feeling a little overwhelmed cause trade chat isn't used for guild recruitment anymore. No one seems to look at their community board unless the guild its active and looking for specific people.

IMHO you can try level or just quest through the Dragon Isles. I believe you can progress through the story lines because they have removed most of the renown requirements for certain quests, and also you can get used to how to properly fly using the dragonriding system.Qinni wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 4:01 pm I came back after I was gifted the new xpac. Re: Returning to WoW and feeling lost
Welcome back Qunni
I personally find wow best if I take it slow and realize that I can’t get all achievements
And year compared to ff it takes alot of getting used to with the time linies.
I say if you got good friends to guide you, then go for it. I really love my guild and they always willing to learn me stuff and take me along.
Hope you figure it out

It sounds like you left during BFA, I highly recommend skipping over Shadowlands and starting with Dragonflight to level up a new character. Dragonflight wasn't perfect (nor has any expansion) but it's really good in a lot of ways.
