Crab's Pin ability

As far as I can see, crab pets have slightly different special ability to other pets in the group using slow, as it is channeled. Are there any advantages of it being channeled and not instant? Don't I see something or is it just comparatively worse to, let's say, spider's Web Spray?

I don’t touch any crabs specifically because of this reason, they do lose a little bit of dps over this channel since they can’t attack at the same time. I hope they change it soon like they did with mammoths. The best slow pet for all three specs are blood beasts, which have a 10 yd range which could be a advantage in PvP, for BM chimaera is the best slow pet due to its 30 yd range. If anything the crab is the worst pet to choose for slow, plus when the pin’s cooldown is finished as it finishes channeling, it repeats the ability every 10 seconds

There is nothing better to remove all the uniqueness of different families due to "balance", yet leaving those minor differences like that. I wasn't even aware of blood beasts being superior, it makes all the other slow non-exotic families inferior basically.
