I have to be the luckiest hunter in the world

hello all! Let me just introduce myself as Antti, the Night Elf Hunter from Destromath,and I hit 80 about 5 hours ago E.S.T in the US.

In that time I have run about 7 heroics, received 60 badges, obtained several epics, the flying bronze drake from culling of strat, and about 1k RAP.

I also tamed two spirit beasts!
I've been regularly looking for Arcturis in Grizzly Hills since I hit 75. No luck. Since I hit 77 I've been checking Zul Drak for Gondria, with no luck. I hit 80 and decided to look for Skoll. No luck after about 3 passes. I qued up for a heroic, did a run past Zul Drak and low and behold I found Gondria at the spawn point east of the stairs. With no one around I tamed him right on up!

After that I flew to Storm Peaks. I flew to his most southern point and worked my way up. At the VERY LAST spawn point, i saw a gold dot on my minimap! I laid down a freezing trap and started taming. Skoll leaped over the trap and proceeded to beat on me. He hit like a truck ( not as hard as King Krush, but that's a different story entirely ) and I was worried he was going to kill me before the tame went off. I was afraid to cancel and heal for someone else to come. I got to about 20% when I finally tamed him.



Still trying to get my hands on arcturis, and later... loque! although I am extremely grateful for what I have tamed tonight All in all I think i invested about 12 hours into the hunt from leveling->to when I hit 80.

The question still remains... what should I name them? Is it wrong to name the cat Gondria and the wolf Skoll? It only seems fitting.

As for naming, I rarely give my pets their orginial names, but as a RPer, I make up a story for that. Artemis, my former Loque, was daughter of Loque and Har'koa. She escaped with her father to Sholazar, and was rescued by Firewing from the hands of Nesingwary, who was trying to kill her for her pelt.

Bayne, my King Krush, was son of Krush. Hence his size and new name. He was the lesser known, Firewing happened to stumble upon him (Cause I literally did stumble upon him. I was about to show my brother the patrol route he was to fly when he literally had JUST spawned beneath us.)

Skoll, I didn't have much to say. I personally never liked my Skoll.

Leaving the original names can be problematic for other people's addons artifically detecting a "rare spawn" as you go by, so I understand. That said, they ARE named creatures, it seems not unreasonable to keep their names Just be prepared for the occasional miffed whisper.

I don't see a problem with giving them their original names, except for the above mentioned "targeting" reason. Otherwise, sure, they are named already, so why not?

Thank you everybody! I could barely fall asleep last night. I kept saying "come on, one more pass, you can do it" alas I could not go on. It saddens me to say that I am going to be away for the weekend and will have to leave my stable full D:

As far as pet names, I appreciate the suggestions. I didn't think it would be this hard. I'm torn between their actual names or - I was thinking Caillech for Skoll, which is the Scottish, British, Welsh Goddess of Weather (since he's all icy and wired with lightening and what not). And Cliodna for Gondria - Goddess of Beauty. I just wish they were a little more emasculating

I kept Gondria's given name when I tamed her.

Skoll kept his given name till I thought of something else.

I would suggest give them a name and run with it for a bit. It can always be changed with a certificate of ownership if you end up not liking it and it doesn't fit.

You're really lucky to have Skoll... I like how he seems to crackle with energy. When or if I ever reach 80, I probably won't go for him, though because his model kind of freaks me out with that dislocated-jaw sort of thing >.<;
