Stay positive guys!! In a few months, after a few spawns, there's a good chance the price will have dropped dramatically and all those without camping luck can nab it off the AH. Still not the cheapest of mounts by a long shot, but it gives an extra speck of hope I guess.

To be honest, I stopped tracking my own server's kills. I'm just gonna wait this one rush out because still only the most dedicated campers know about him. Once they're satisfied with selling or owning, I doubt the average player would go out of their way to spend time tracking the guy's 72-hour blackout.

so does regular server maintenance/rolling restarts count as what resets the 72 hour timer? which would mean that he'll never even have a chance to spawn until like friday of every week? or am i way off there...

So far that seems to have been the case - anything that takes a realm down even for the shortest period of time will reset the timer.

Can he only spawn once a week? My girlfriend has been camping him pretty heavily; I've not started yet until I get Aeonaxx, but it really seems to be that once someone gets him, he's then unseen until after the reset. Can't seem to find any trustworthy information on this either.

Im still looking for information about respawn timers also.

Like...if he pops about 72 hours after a restart...is there a chance he will pop AGAIN, BEFORE a restart? Anytime during the Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon before the Tuesday restarts.

I think 72 hours makes it almost exactly a once-a-week spawn considering server reset/maintenence times, but I could be wrong--math is *not* my strong point >.>

Also, still bearing in mind that mathy badness fact--I think he should start popping up again on EU realms about now. We had one "server resets between 5 and 7 am" this week, so any time in the next hour or so, EU players should start seeing him crop up. I don't know what that extends to--I mean, I don't know if it's a 72-100 hour spawn or what--but the window opens soon.

72 hours being three days (Majora's Mask ftw for ingraining that particular time-day conversion into my brain), assuming maintenance reset his spawn timer, you'd still get two chances a week (11am thu, 11am sun assuming servers came up 11am tue and went down 5am tue). If it's 72, give or take twelve, then I think you'd still be safe (11pm thu, 11am mon).

Obviously the spawn fluxuation plays a part, and I doubt it's going to spawn exactly 72 hours after servers come up, but I think that's the mathy bit. If the spawn timer was 96 hours (4 days), you'd only get one a week. Any spawn timer whose max spawn time is over 84 hours will be one a week, but you have a chance at two (or more) anything beyond that.

The servers come up at 11 am Wednesday, not Tuesday--unless US is different than EU, of course.

I'm currently camping on Tarren Mill-EU - have one account idle in Underlight Canyon and circling on my main around the rest of the spawn points. There has been reports of him being killed on EU realms within the past couple of hours, so I'm hopeful. :)

All the kills have gone to the Horde side, so I'm hoping to sack the first Alliance kill... At first I was thinking of giving him to a friend as a birthday present, but now it's starting to be way too late for that... So instead I'll keep the first one I get my hands on and hopefully will get a second one to give away to said friend later on.

My dreams last night were filled with me finding and killing Poseidus... XD

I can verify the 72+ spawn timer since last restart.

Server: Exodar
Tuesday Rolling Restart: 7am
Poseidus kill at 730am Saturday: approx. 96 hours after restart.

I was camping 2 spots, the abyssal location and running between spots in Shimmering. Logged out to get coffee and popped back in only to see the other camper got him at Glimmerdeep gorge spot. He was nice enough to tell me that he did. I was sceptical that it might be a ploy to get me to log for a while so switched to a bank toon and sure enough he posted it in AH.

I feel sick to my stomach now.......

I've been camping since yesterday, going on about 20 hours now. Lots of other campers coming & going now, though it was quiet overnight; no sightings yet. This is Nagrand EU, btw.

nope thats about the right area for him. its where my hunter found him when .. you know he dropped nothing lol

Ah, yeah. US servers usually go down 5am Tue and come up 11am Tue (Pacific time, which is my timezone). Unless EU servers go down on Tue and come up on Wed, the same rotation should apply (just move everything forward a day—11am Fri, 11am Mon; 11pm Fri, 11am Tue).

Obviously that's a super-simplified spawn rotation, assuming that the server downtime resets the spawntime, that there aren't any server restarts or hiccups/crashes during the week, and that he spawns on the minute.

Bleeh, the reins just linked.. Haven't linked all day and now all of a sudden it did. Seems like I have to waste next saturday actually sitting there camping instead of just flying by every once in a while. x(

Miyon, while I usually use the linking as a way to determine if camping for a rare is worth it, I wouldn't trust it in this case... With the mount being BoE, most realms probably have at least one being sold. Even if the person hasn't put theirs in the AH, them simply logging in with the mount in their bags will cause them to become linkable.

I know. They are not completely reliable, but there have not been one Poseidus on the AH ever since the patch hit. So I don't really know if he has been spawned or not at all. Anyway, there haven't been anything up until now. I could always start camping now, but now I feel demotivated.
