The reason is simple, I don't like being ignored. Not on something that's meant to be social, like a forum. It's not just in this thread either, but in other topics. I don't feel a part of this place anymore, so I'm not going to continue coming here. Not even really expecting anyone to read this/care.

<3 to the couple of people who I made friends with and who have my Real ID. I'll keep in touch still if that's also what you want too.

Bye.
Sorry...but im not going to lie. Leaving cause you feel ignored is a kinda lame excuse. Maybie im making people mad by saying that but its true. Hell most of my topics are usually ignored with hardly any reply. You shouldn't take it personel

I don't think it's lame. I come on this forum to communicate with people, luckily in my case..most return the favour. Atalanta has has a one-sided thread nearly this entire time when it concerns her mounts. I don't blame her. But, I will miss her updates. Guess I'll talk to her on RealID :)

Agreed with this. It's very difficult to respond to a one-sided thread, so I don't really understand people leaving when threads that don't really require replies don't receive them. If you want replies, start threads that have more room for discussion, rather than adventure (or non-adventure, depending on the camping) logs.

Best of luck, Atalanta.

To get more people to respond in your threads you need to be sarcastic and act like you are crazy. Or at least act like you have camped for so long that you are going insane and when someone says something (even if you agree with it) then reply back with "I am not sure, but NO IT MUST BE!" or something.

Trust me... ask around about my old Madexx threads.

:P

I rarely even read pet and/or mount journals, it's nothing personal.

And it's not LAME or anything like that, in fact, you are being lame suggesting this imo - or even trolling...

I have personally felt that some people on this forum only get 1 or 2 replies (if they are lucky) when others get a shed load on the same topic. It seems that unless you're attention seeking (or crazy as Pent put it) or a 'favourite' then you don't get any replies which is sad for those of us who are new to the forums and passionate but sane...

I'm not posting more often because of this, and I know some people who used to post but stopped because of the lack of a community spirit anymore

EDIT: I also think its incredibly sad that she's got more replies to this thread from a variety people now she's leaving than when she was here - again, if theres drama or an argument to be had ppl wade in - like the attack on Sarantha over the bugged blue madexx and the 'rolling on items for other ppl' thread.....typical of petopia forums :*(

Sadly that's just the way it is. Leaving because of it does seem silly though - where I come from, forums are a place of conversation and fun, not post or reply counts.

I've never been one of the "popular" people anywhere, my stuff usually gets either a couple of posts before dying or it's completely ignored. Do I judge the community for that? No. Who doesn't want to be one of the "populars"? It just doesn't happen overnight.

Infact I make it a hobby of mine to NOT post on any of Redith's threads. I'm scared of cops usually :?

But yeah saying you're leaving after you don't recieve a "omg grats" every time you post about a new mount or something seems a bit... er.... overdramatic?

For some reason not having signatures or avatars makes me less likely to pay attention to individuals on this forum as well (besides that Worba person). Its not that I try to ignore everyone who doesnt have a avatar, its that it can be hard to pay attention to all the names if I can not associate the name with a pic. I always recommend setting up avatar/signature because then your posts will automatically increase the likelihood of someone else remembering "oh i remember that Patrick forum guy from this other thread"

Just a tip

Ok calling me lame is fine, but im TIRED of people calling troll for EVERYTHING! I think leaving because no one replys is..well as one person put it better "Overdramatic" but because I don't have the same opinion and I decided to express it does not require the dropping of the troll card.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

I'm going to have to agree with Redith completely.
I've been a forum goer for years. It's just something that happens.

If a thread does not warrant too much discussion and there's none of it going on and somebody leaves because of the fact they feel ignored because of it that's merely them being childish.

I really didn't want to reply to this thread because my opinion is the same and can be seen as overly negative but I can't stand people calling him out as a troll because his opinion is true in a sense. People might not agree with it but some people do therefore it is one truth.

I don't receive too many responses on my threads/posts but I'm not throwing a temper-tantrum and leaving. It's a forum - Not your Facebook.

Also on the topic of not having a signature/avatar:
I don't have photoshop and I KNOW having a signature/avatar would make me stand out. I guess I should quit because nobody will reply to my threads!

Ahh I didn't get that many people replying to my TLDP thread..I had my "regulars" though which I thought was cool...:D.. But I didn't make that thread to see how many people would congratulate me, or console me..or to see how many responses I would get..I did it for entertainment purposes..for the people who wanted to read it and contribute, You also have to figure there are the lurkers who read but don't contribute so I did for them too ;) and for my own sanity..as a public journal/diary.

And it's fun to go back, now that I have my Time Lost and read what went on.

I'm sorry Atlanta felt the need to leave, maybe shes going through stuff in real life and it's getting her down, so she got a little over dramatic here? Anyways I still hope one day she comes back. :D

^^This is why I suggested you were trolling :P You specifically said:-
Redith wrote:Maybie im making people mad by saying that but its true

And yeah, I think it does make people mad and even sad when you accuse them of being lame. It was pathetic IMO. There's nothing wrong with offering constructive advice as to why she may not have got responses (she did have a siggy and avvy but she's obviously removed them) or even saying - its a forum, you can't expect responses...but to just wonder in and make your first post to her 'you're lame expecting a response' is cruel - I'm actually shocked you didn't finish up with the typical 'L2P noob' as thats what usually goes hand in hand with such a reply...

Maybe it's just me, but I just think your response was a tad insensitive...if Ata comes back and reads your post she's more likely to never come back ever - community spirit eh?

Zhuge, people don't have to be trolling to make people mad. There's a lot of raging around here, some justified, some less so. It doesn't necessarily mean the poster was "trolling." I'm not sure that word means what you think it means. Trolling is intentionally saying things to make people mad for the sheer enjoyment of it. While Redith's wording wasn't exactly diplomatic, his intent was not that of a troll. His point was almost entirely lost due to poor wording, but that does not mean his underlying point was invalid. But you do understand that part of it already, or so your last post implies, so that's a non-issue. Redith is guilty of being callous (at best), but he wasn't trolling.

Redith, it's generally a bad idea to wander into a ragequit discussion with harsh wording. I understand where you were coming from, but your tone really wasn't going to help the situation any. Again, you're hardly the only poster here to make a bad judgement call on that front; I'm guilty of it myself on occasion. It's incredibly frustrating to sit by and watch various posters purge their frustrations on the forum when their own perceptions are the source of the problem. Headbutting isn't going to solve it, though.

Atalanta, if you're still lurking around, hopefully you'll see the situation through clearer eyes at some point down the line. If you want to interact with people on the forum, do it in other types of discussion threads, not something one-sided like this. If you want to have a one-sided thread that's "for you," as it were, then go for it, but don't expect people to constantly respond. They're not responsible for that. This point has been made several times over here in various ways. Hopefully something resonated with you.

That said, can we please move on now? This subject has been thoroughly exhausted.
