It's not actually the Sims dance; they're both references. :) But yeah, same result!
Yeah true, Honestly I didnt pick up the male pandren as shuffilin the first time I watched it when I think f WoW suhhiling I think of this..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r903QODrTk - And hes not doing that
Bahahahaha! That's pretty awesome. :)

Ha, just noticed that my only issue with the female pandaren dance is that the hand motions which go on for too long are actually like that in the real dance! So, accurate representation, but taken out of context, it feels like it goes on even longer.

I don't quite agree with that. Party Rock Anthem is well-known both on and off the internet by a large and varied crowd, as far as I can tell, so... fair enough. Caramelldansen, however, is more or less exclusively iconic to anime fans, who don't really represent the internet as a whole.
I'm not an anime nerd, and I've known of Caramelldansen forever.
Same here! I like anime, yes, but I rarely have the attention span to sit down and watch any unless I'm watching it with someone. Since I'm usually by myself, that's not often. I mostly know it from almost any video game you name having their characters put to Caramelldansen. xD; So unless enjoying anime sometimes makes me an anime nerd...I am not. Internet nerd, however, definitely.

We can debate pop culture all day long. It's very subjective! I love anime, but had to look up the Party Rock shuffle. *SHRUG* Just b/c it doesn't represent your niche of the world doesn't mean it's bad. I had no earthly idea til I read this thread the belf male dance was Napoleon Dynamite. Probably b/c I've yet to see it >.>; But it didn't annoy me just b/c I didn't get it or whatever. It's still pretty fun to watch. :)

It's about like debating whether or not an apple pie with a hole in the middle is funny.

though, the transitions between the moves IS a little abrupt... I'm sure that will get fixed, though :)
Very well said. :3

These songs are iconic to this internet generation. You don't have to be an anime fan or have watched the movie or video to enjoy the dance. :3

The reason I've noticed the bunny ear motion is so long sometimes is because it has two separate animations. One with eyes open, another with eyes closed. So sometimes it can go on for a really long time.

Thats the main part of Caramelldansen so thats probably why it got two animations.

I would say it was a given that Shuffling was going to be used. What interested me most was how expressive the male pandaren's face is. Now that is impressive. I don't see why people are getting so angry about it, nothing could look as bad as the male Worgen dance. "A combination of Justin Timberlake and tap dancing"? o.0

When people kept mentioning caramelldansen, I didn't know what they were talking about, but when I saw the female dance, I recognised it straight away. Not sure how I feel about it, but it is definitely not the worst female dance by any means in my view. Even though it's associated with anime, it's apparently Swedish. But look at the male Draenei; they have Eastern European accents, but their moves are from "Tunak Tunak Tun". And if you haven't seen it, you must!

Apparently this was an internet meme too.

At the end of the day, it's really a case of personal taste, though I imagine people who think caramelldansen is Japanese are going to get a bit riled by this.

Just to point out, the female dwarves are not doing Riverdance, they are Irish dancing. Riverdance requires a group and has more steps. I imagine though that Riverdance would have made it more recognisable.

I have to say while it's hard to beat Tunak Tunak Tun for silly, I love the dance all the more for it.

Well, the thing is that the original song is in swedish, but as far as I have seen, there is no actual music video for caramelldansen, other than the numerous anime ones. I was really curious because I wanted to compare them. (The swedish lyrics say "dance with us, clap your hands, do as we do, take some steps to the left) Another note is that the original version is much slower, the well-known version is named "speedy remix" or something.
The real Caramell was an eurodance band popular in the late -90 (ca 97-99) and the album that caramelldansen is from, is from -01. The original band have nothing to do with the anime version and were no longer a band when the meme struck, but since it has become such a huge thing, an anime group has been created, called Caramellagirls (kinda like Gorillaz, that they are fictional characters).

I searched for the original Caramelldansen, and to my surprise (or maybe not, europop is fun and familiar and Swedes are good at it, just check out Dota by Basshunter) I actually like it. It's much nicer when the voice is not as squeaky (I usually hate all Chip&Dale style squeaky voices in childrens pop too) and when you can hear and understand the words. I watched to check the lyrics and they are ok in this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNWco8rih5k

Doesn't change my feelings about the dance itself on pandaren but anyway.
ETA: Still doesn't match the dance, but Draenei actually don't have a Russian accent, more like Greek.
