Is it me or is he getting lighter colored? Or was that just the flash?

could be because he just molted, so his color is still pale.

That's just because he was freshly molted, they're all soft and vulnerable right afterwards until their exoskeleton hardens again.

It's always fun to poke around in the molt after!

I've saved Sabbath's baby fangs from each one so I have to take it apart to separate them.

Congrats on the successful molt! I always get a little nervous when mine molt.

He's a beautiful guy!

I think I mentioned before how I've kept all of Sabbath's baby fangs, here's a photo I took today. It's really easy to see the size difference when they're put side by side like this.
Dates for each molt are May 2012, August 2012, ???, August 2013. I can't remember when the third one was. :c

Canada actually is doing away with the 1C coin. They are no longer being made/distributed, but will always be accepted as currency. Just happened this year. So our smallest is the 5C coin now.

Hee, yeah what Makoes said.

There's still lots of pennies lying around though (it was the first coin I found so I decided to use it as an easy size comparison

)

Ah I see. We did that with our 5C coin but unlike you we could not use them. I miss them they had Tuataras on them D:
Anywho man you can tell he has really grown lots since you first got him! Is there a point where he will stop growing?

I have my suspicions that Sabbath is actually female, in which case "he" will continue molting his entire life.
If he is a male though, they only molt up to the point where they reach sexual maturity and then they stop growing. After their final molt they live for maybe a year. Males don't live nearly as long as females, so I kind of hope he's really a she (I'll keep calling him a he regardless though, it's not like it matters to him

)
Females can live 20+ years where as males may only get about 5 years. I'll be able to tell more easily once he's bigger, it's always a pain to sex tarantulas, and so far I haven't had luck with getting intact molts to study.

Very nice,hope we unravel the truth soon. I've always wanted a tarantula,just like my dad,only he got one...of course it ran away though. Lol. Sabbath looks pretty cool:). So how is he/she doing now?

Awww. He's looking big and healthy. Hopefully he is a she, though, as you said!
In the arthropod world the males really cop it badly. Die young or get eaten during sex

This thread has oddly helped me slowly overcome my phobia of spiders. I still get freaked out by the smaller ones because I cant always see where they're going/at. I think Sabbath is like a cute, fuzzy baby though.
I've recently just let spiders overtake my porch corner so that they can eat all the harmful insects I don't like. My mom thinks they're creepy but I've been randomly taking pictures of them. One of them got in the house, he was bigger, scared her to death and she tried to squish him. I made her stop and made a paper tent to hold him and put him back outside.
