i dont mean to sound dissapointed but if we only get 3 porcupine spirit beasts with challenge mechanics similar to molten front tames then i will be a little sad. i hope theres maybe another spirit beast on the isle of thunder or the isle of giants that uses the tracking method bombyx uses because i think maybe have some use one method and the rest of the spirit beasts could have a tracking requirment. i personally think we should be able to get the ghostly devilsaur as a spirit beast!

Agreed. I saw that and went O.O then saw you couldn't even target it and went -.-

I enjoy challenge tamed but just really don't want a porcupine. So for the first time ever I'm passing on spirit beasts. I'm actually disappointed right now bc I cleared 5 spots before launch in anticipation. So far the only thing I'm going for is a dire horn and blue devilsaur.

In the Spirit Beast department, it might be a bit lacking, even though I do think (and this is crazy, because I don't like Porcupines that much at all), that with the bigger size (than normal porcupines) and the dark red color, Degu is a cool looking Spirit Beast.

Hunters have been treated very well so far in general though. Dire Horns are a treat, Devilsaurs are smexy, new raptor models (even more coming, potentially)

All I can currently wish for is Pterrorwings/Pterodactyls/Pterrordaxes to become tameable and I'm ready to faint.

Also, I have good hope that the turtle rare that was found that didn't have a name yet will get its model changed to Tortos's model and become tameable, so turtle lovers might even have that to look forward to!

Question: Just how large is Degu's deadzone? I guess I could just go check it myself on PTR but I heard it's a bit unstable so I don't know how much luck I'd have staying on it.

Because I'm reminded of the Whale Shark and I actually had issues starting the pull on that but afterwards it wasn't hard to maintain the correct distance.

Guys, there's a thread in which to rant/rave about the porcupines; please don't do it in this one. :/

The book for taming dire horns does in fact drop from the dinomancers on the Isle of Giants; it's just a random drop.

You definitely can't get a huge lead on him and his melee range seems pretty wide as well. I'm going to attempt to document this without dying!

Nothing that I've seen, only the organics.

I like how whenever I'm busy for a few days I always seem to come back to LOADS of news. xD
The porcupines seem cool though. I might go for the green one, I'm not too sure yet. I'm not a huge fan of the porcupines really.

So I can safely say that Degu seems to hit harder than his siblings. He just crit me for 380k in melee range. (I have 357k hp.) Gumi just hit me for about 100k less than that (275k). Both hits were crits.

Degu: definitely not for the faint of heart.

Can you freeze them after they hit tameable range or no?

Nope, none of the porcupines can be frozen. Deterrence and the tame beast glyph are completely necessary.

Got a nice size comparison shot between normal porcupines and the spirit porcupines. :)

(In hindsight, I don't think Calydonian looks too happy about this...)
