There's another author I read, he's dead now so good luck getting his books. But if you can, find the Kane books.. The author is Karl Edward Wagner.. The books are about Kane from the Bible and what happened to him after he was expelled from eden for killing his brother Abel.. There are four books... Nightwinds, Dark Crusade, Bloodstone, Darkness Weaves

Kane: "the powerful and forbiding knight of winter darkness- whose sharp sword is at the service of anyone who can command it's respect..."

" In a dark swamp slumbers a secret relic of the days when creatures from the stars ruled the earth, waiting for the right man to wake it. Kane the mystic warrior, is that man".

"A grand and gory banquet of swordplay, sorcery and superscience! Wagner has created an intriguing hero- Part savage, Part savant-with a dash of Satanic seasoning."

I've put off reading The Demon Soul and started reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde instead. It's a novel I've always wanted to read after hearing the basic plotline but only picked it up recently when I saw the adaptation starring Ben Barnes for sale (which I also got). I've since seen the film and now want to see how close it was to the original story.

Dorian Gray is a fantastic book. But then, I've also always been a fan of Oscar Wilde :)

Anyway, just finished The Vampire Lestat by Ann Rice. Had to read it for my fantasy lit class. It was....I'm not really sure what to think about it, honestly. Ann Rice is supposedly to vampires what Tolkien is to elves, so I expected it to be fantastic. But many aspects of it were rather disappointing. And the ending made me very annoyed. She does write exceptional horror, though...many moments had me shuddering at the creepiness of it all.

Lesee. I finished re-reading Eragon for the sixth or seventh time. Some people say it's not good, but I'm impressed considering he was what, 14, 15 when he wrote it. Infinitely better than Twilight in my opinion, as well! Just finished Cry of the Icemark as well.

For class, I'm starting on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, but at the moment I'm reading the Gantz manga. Nauseatingly gory/unpleasant at times, but awesome anyway.

Son Of A Witch - Gregory Maguire. The second book in his Oz series. If you've never read any of his books and choose to start with Wicked - The Life and Times of the Witch of the West, a warning; you'll never be able to watch The Wizard of Oz in the same light as before.

Ooooh. I read Wicked a while back. It was good, though definitely VERY strange at some points.

As for me, just started Perfume by Patrick Suskind, for class. Honestly wasn't expecting much from it, as the title doesn't sound all that dynamic and the teacher's rough synopsis (finding the ultimate perfume) seemed kinda 'meh.'

But only 60 pages in and holycrap, this book is twisted. I find myself morbidly fascinated by it. O_o;

I'm in the middle of reading The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman (for those who don't know he is the guy who wrote Northern Lights which was adapted into the film The Golden Compass :))

Hmm, I could never get into Pullman's writing. I struggled just to finish the Golden Compass, and I could hardly even get 2 chapters into the second book before pushing it away.

Anyways, I'm going to re-read A Song of Ice and Fire for the umpteenth time I believe. I've been getting cravings for those books again, and it's been at least a year since I read them last. :) Now if the author could just hurry up and finish the books before he dies that would be swell. -.-

I just finished Darren Shan: Killers of the Dusk the other day and MAN did I cry. ;_____; I'd been avoiding reading it for almost a year now, knowing what would happen in the end.

Yesterday I finally started reading the Historian by Elizabeth Kostova again, having left it lying around for well over a year or two. Am now half way done with it, and once I finish this one, I'll try and finish the Egyptian by Mika Waltari.

All this is in Finnish of course, as I'm usually not a big fan of reading to begin with, reading in English would be a lot more of a task. The only exception here is the Harry Potter series, from which I've read the last one only in English. :P Over the years I've realized how dull the Finnish HP translation really is, it feels like a stupid fairy tale with translated spells and character names.

Once I get past the Egyptian, I'm planning on starting the Temeraire series and a couple of Anne Rice's vampire books; the Queen of the Damned and the Vampire Lestat. These are in English, as I haven't been able to get my hands on any translations.

My Daemon would be a fox. <3 Always thought it'd be my thing.

I'm reading The Hunt for Red October for a swedish assignement. The local library had run out of swedish copies (most likely the rest of the class D:), so it's the english version. Writing the essay is going to be... Fun...
