Any help would be appreciated
If you read the startpost it tells you why. Pet that gets tamed loses the buff, pet that dies keeps the buff, but a pet that dies at the same time it get's tamed, dies. So if your pet dies you can press revive and the corpse disappears while you cast. That way the buff, in this case the oil coat, does not get cleansed by the taming process...

I am confused by this, how is the SS staying on the beast after we've tamed it?
I hope this doesn't get patched, or fixed... I love my wolfy already its amazing... and also this is how I got it, took 56 tries but was worth it (Wolf not BIrd, I don't need a bird)
I went to the place where they, are first I tried stripping down to the weapon and gun and just shooting it and then hitting it till it got 2k hp then taming, but it didn't work usually so after a couple fails... I took a different approach... I took my armor, all of it, on and then I shot it with serpent sting, and then I autoshotted it once, then I tamed and it usually hit the mark but it didnt always stick the buff... (well none except the final one) Sooo after trying many times this way... I finally got it... remember RIGHT AFTER ITS TAMED/DEAD PRESS REVIVE PET! so the buff does not disappear off the corpse....
TY guys, and Blizzard
Plz plz plz plz plz dont ban meeeeeee or get rid of my pet wolfy....
I have been trying on my hunter for a good hour now for that hawk. (69 oiled fledgeling right?) Anyways, hes 73 so ive modified it a bit, but the bird either dies soon as tame goes off (too late) or gets tamed with like 20 hp left (too early). Closest i have gotten is taming it as soon as it died (Corpse didn't retain oil buff still tried revive pet anyways and cancel, but it showed up in my call slot, so i just revived it and abandoned). I am still trying, but man its frustrating for me

I agree, I'm doing everything that's explained, there is some kind of timing issue here that I am not understanding, maybe. It sounds like we need to have three things happen all at the exact same time, 1) It dies 2) it's tamed 3) we cast revive.
Just got the wolf after; get this, THREE tries. First try was a test to see how much damage my trap did, and that flopped badly. died same time I tamed, but didn't keep sword. Second try was a bit nicer, but I didn't auto-attack one time to lower its hp more. Third time was a slap, a trap, and a perfect tame!
Courtaud now has mental problems. I now have a great excuse as to why my dps in raids is absolutely horrible! (No offense to the mentally handicapped)
I'm having the same probs - got a grey bow and hit the bird with SS then tame immediately after - i get to the last 2 seconds and then it dies every time :/

Awesome!
I'll go griff one right now
and yes thats how my friends on started calling making pets vanish on tame xD bless them
i am not ashamed to say they made me blush
wish me luck
No luck for me. I've tried a trap. I've tried no Aspect of the Hawk. I've tried Aspect of the Hawk. I think I'm going to just hold out on this one. I'll have my other hunter that I'm rerolling try it at another time. I am considering taking my other hunter out to go try for Lone Hunter with his dagger. She tamed him without it the other day. I wonder if she can do it at lvl 60.
Hmm, seems i should be getting the timing right, it dies soon as tame goes off, I'm spamming revive pet for the last 2 or so seconds, but soon as it dies (and it gets tamed at same time) it instantly loses its oil coat. Also appears in my call pet as a normal bird of prey icon. Is my timing still off? (I guess it has to be :\) Don't really see what I am doing wrong... It is dieing at the time my tame goes off and i spam revive pet to make it disappear.

I had that for the first bit. It means you're very close, but probably didn't hit Revive quickly enough. You'll get it eventually, just keep trying.
if the oil is gone you need to be later, try reacting with tame as soon as you see serpent deal damage.
- or indeed, you werent fast enouth with revive,
you are not supposed to see the ray of light.
Has anyone tried the armored boars involved with the quest "Feed of Evil"? It is is the tauren starting area. When doing the quest you toss fire at the troths and it sets them on fire along with any boars around it. The boars run around for a little while then die. Their corpses stay on fire until the corpse disappears.

Oh god, imagine all the boars named BBQ if that turns out to be tameable.
