Hee, that's definitely an idea! What if the voidwalker starts pulling things OUT of the void too? xD

I'm German, so I wouldn't mind translating the English emotes to German. I would just need a list of them and then I could translate them using correct genders, genus and everything. If you would need me, best to send me a PM because I might forget to check this thread.

I'd just like to throw out there that the emote for Carrion Birds where they pull a feather from their tail and drop it to the ground seems a little odd, especially with the old world birds. Their tails are naked and even the Outlands model ones don't have too many feathers on them.

It's not like a major thing, but I've been noticing my carrion bird preening his tail a lot and he has no tail feathers.

I'm sure alot of people who speak German would be grateful! I'm not sure how this would work with getting them into the addon, etc. But, its great that you would do this :)

Well, what do you think happened to all his tail feathers? :P

I've always seen the three long things on the vultures as their tail feathers, much like the owls have the pair of long ones in their tails. Even if there's only three of them, the models are heavily stylized, so I don't think it's hard to suspend disbelief in that case.

They look way too much like flesh to me, especially on the black vulture. Maybe Teigan's right, he preened his tail bald. xD

May I take a stab at writing for the demon dogs?

The addon utilizes the pet families, such as wolf, dog, fox or spirit beast, to separate emotes. Demon dogs are not a separate family. They're part of the dog family. The addon doesn't allow separation of different skins within families. A good case study of this is the difficulty we had with spirit beasts, and writing emotes that would suit both a crab and a cat. You are welcome to write your own emotes specific to your demon dog pet, of course, just keep in mind they would be overwritten by any other custom files, due to how the addon works.

That's a great idea! :D What would they pull out of the void.....hrm....nothing pleasant, to be sure.

Tantalus gives Teigan his best sad puppy eyes. Play?

(Actually, is something like that already in there? If so, ignore. ;) )

D'aww! I think there's something like that. I never hang on to a dog for very long and haven't looked at the dogs since I wrote them, so I would have to check. :)

They look like flesh to me, as well. Especially considering theyre the same color as their flesh.
Maybe instead of "Carrion Bird preens his/her tail feathers" we take out the feathers part and just use "Carrion Bird preens his/her tail?" /shrug
It never really bothers me that much, but I do see them as flesh type things. XD

It won't kill me if it doesn't change, it was just something I noticed today since I was just idling with my carrion bird out and it just struck me as a really odd emote that I'm guessing got carried over from like bird of prey emotes or something. Figured I would mention it since the addon's being discussed for clean up or whatever. :)

Oh... while we on the subject of emotes that need to change... wind serpents should... maybe... not preen wing feathers. :P (especially the ones without feathers, hehe)

Well, the carrion bird tail feathers... To answer where it came from, yes, when I wrote the carrion bird emotes, I copied over the bird of prey emotes and altered them to suit. The preening of wing and tail feathers fits with all birds, in my mind, so I left those there.

To me, the Outland and Northrend style ones clearly have tail feathers. The Outland ones have long, eleborate plumes like a tropical bird, in fact. The Northrend ones have stubbier ones like you would see on a hawk or eagle, but they are there.

I had a hard time figuring out what you were even talking about with the old buzzard type birds, but I guess I can see how that could look like bare, fleshy tendrils. That is actually REALLY creepy *shudder* I've always thought they had long tail feathers like a pheasant does, and I intend to keep thinking that because the alternative is completely shudder inducing.

As for the wind serpents, I'm not going to change that. They are based on the feathered serpent god Quetzalcoatl, who was god of the wind, among other things. The old style ones clearly have a feathered crest and wings. The Outland ones, I agree, look more reptilian. However, being wind serpents, perhaps they have a fine covering of short, smooth feathers, much like a penguin does?

To me, however, windserpents will always be Pip from Alan Dean Foster's Pip and Flinx books. :)

To tell the truth, I accidentally forgot about the Northrend model carrion bird. They do indeed have tail feathers, and the long tails on the Outlands models appear more feather like as well. I guess it's just the original vulture models then that have those long tendrils of flesh.

Not worth changing the emote because of one bird type so instead of him preening feathers I'll pretend he's doing it with dead skin.

And if wind serpents preen feathers then that totally makes sense to me. The wings on the older models look like they were semi-designed with feathers in mind.

*cries and rocks back and forth in corner* Tendril birds........................oh god save us all.......................
I'm never going to be able to look at them the same, am I?

The Outland wind serpent wings always looked leathery to me, like a bat's, which actually somewhat explains the appeal of those wind serpents, since WoW bats are...holey. :|

Feathers or not, I have a different issue with the preening emote for wind serpents - I can't picture it. How do they manage to do it and not fall down? I'd assume they'd have to land first, which basically turns the emote into something else, something like:

MintJulep coils herself into a pile of loops on the ground and grooms her wings.

This could have other endings, like:

...and grooms her wings, biting a particularly nasty itch.
...and grooms her wings, removing the corpse of some tiny flying critter.

Just food for thought. :)

(I am pretending the carrion bird discussion doesn't exist because ewwwwwwwww! x_x)

I'm sorry to ruin people's images about the older carrion birds. xD The fleshy tendrils of the black ones creeped me out for the longest time until I actually found a hunter one goes with.

Also Kalli, I really like those ideas for the wind serpents. Perhaps even occasionally the wind serpent could wrap themself around their master's/mistress' shoulders/waist?

Redoul wraps himself affectionately around his mistress' shoulders (waist) and proceeds to groom a wing (feather).
...and bites at a rather nasty itch.
...and nuzzles her before preening his wing feathers.
