Not true at all. Yes he hits that hard but you can still solo tame him at 81 - just load up on FR gear (the cheap greens from the AH).

That's how I did it (with full health of just 30k HP).

Tagging means nothing re: tames - if the other hunter tried and failed guess what now it's your turn.

Enjoy the awesome tank pet and try not to spend anymore time worrying about the guy who blew his chance.

That's not necessarily true either, heh.

The point I was trying to make earlier was that the 81 hunter had help in their shammy friend, important help. Even if the shammy wasn't resto for earth shield, the resistance totem + bloodlust/heroism combined with a heal or two should have been enough to pull off the tame. If they were failing to do that with multiple attempts, then it's quite possible that the hunter wouldn't've gotten the tame done at all due to poor execution. Better that he was tamed by another hunter than killed by someone else due to the whole thing taking so long.

Hunter+shaman on a Terrorpene tame = easy mode.

He hits for 10k dmg so unless your stacking on tons and tons of haste and your able to pull that tame off in under 3 seconds I can't see how you would live.

Once again, fire resistance. Go check "Burning Hatred" on wowhead - fire resistance not only reduces the damage it is 4x as effective vs that particular spell.

Hmm well if you reduce the dmg taken by 50% atleast then I could see one pulling off the tame in under 6 seconds.

I only took 10-15k dmg total

When you sit down to eat and bite into something hot only to realize you forgot your drink in the other room.

I hate to go against you on this but I know for a fact a lvl 81 can tame him cause I did on Jessibelle and had low level lvl 60/70 fire resistance gear. It wasnt a full set but it was enough, plus heroism and potion of speed, to tame Terrorpene. I was resisting 7 - 9k. I still have the screenshot too.

Tamed as 81 too, pala helped me with his FR because he totaly caught me off-guard with NO fr gear.

My bf tamed as 81 aswell, me giving my FR aura on my pally.


It's very, very doable if you have the FR. Haste or HP isn't the issue.

And this is why a shaman friend is ideal for helping with this - you get the haste without having to worry about a corehound temp pet and the FR without having to sacrifice your regular gear. Not only do you have the basic resistance, but you have a massive haste boost to go with it.

I used a disposable corehound and speed potion but in hindsight I think the FR was the only thing I needed.

Corehound, haste elixer food and pot with druid heals, haste trinket]se was increased haste) epic hunter friend equals terrorpene tame honestly there is really no right or wrong way to terrorpene or any rare imo anyways

If you've got friends to help you or are lucky enough to find friendly people nearby then yes it's all good but otherwise good luck trying to solo tame him at 81 without the FR...

If you do it right, you tame Terrorpene. If you do it wrong, you are killed by Terrorpene.

It took me 11 tries to solo tame Terropene in ICC/EoT gear, on day 1 of Cata. The last attempt I made before "giving up" unkowingly to me was the attept that tamed him, pulled it off just as i died and didnt realise I'd tamed him till the evening when I went to switch pets and saw a turtle in a slot!
But as I said before, Terropene was waiting for you. The pets choose thier partners, not the other way around.

I dunno why you would ? I thought I was in an agreement that it's possible based on the reduction of dmg with fire Resistance. I also didn't realize how effect FR gear would be.. Learn something new everyday I guess.
