No, no, we don't need to scrap anything. We keep them (or rather the thread does). I think you got confused between two semi-seperate conversations. We were discussing the possibility of Efidendel being able to make PetEmote so that you could specify a family for a pet and have it use those emotes, regardless of its actual family. If he is able to do that, we can make a custom family just for demon dogs and then those with demon dogs can tell PetEmote to use the demon dog "custom family." If that happens, your specifically demonic puppy emotes can be used there :) I really hope it does, because it would help out several families, not just the dogs.

The other conversation was that the current emotes I had written for dogs were just too cutesy and this needed to be fixed. I figured since you loved demon dogs so much and I've got this mastiff that's attached itself to me, we could work at it from both ends of the dog family and find a happy medium that neither too cute, too demony, or too serious.

Some of your more neutral emotes I've worked into the dogs already, so we are heading in that direction :)

I will work then tonight on more .......... neutral puppeh emotes. What do you have so far for yours? I've never had a mastiff pet so this should be interesting to see how different they are compared to the demon dogs. My two mains will tame a mastiff and see. Maybe even the other two 85 hunter gals.
Drat confusion. Making me think the wrong things.

Hopefully you'll find mastiffs somewhat endearing. They're a bit awkward and they don't have nearly the frenetic, puppy-ish personality of a demon dog, but, if you think if it as a large, stolid bearish creature that only wants to protect its huntress, that might help.

This is what dogs look like right now. I took out some cutesy stuff, worked in some of your stuff, worked in some of my stuff....not huge changes, but I think its starting to shape up.

That's really bizarre that it would stop working all of the sudden without you changing anything. I don't really know what to say, but I guess reinstalling it would be a good place to start.

if you put in "/pe random off" and forgot you did, that would do it. Have you tried "/pe random on" and "/pe random"?

*slinks out of lurkdom*

I know they're not tamable yet, but I'm very excited for basilisks, so I wrote up some emotes for them. I know they're probably not that great, but I tried incorporating both the Azerothian and Outland models into these emotes, and I even logged on to the game to watch my buddy Hellgazer, in hopes of getting a feel for their animations through him. I even incorporated one from the cat family emotes since I felt it would fit basilisks as well, because the blinking is just too adorable to ignore.

Basilisk Emotes

Basilisk looks over at his/her master/mistress and blinks slowly, eyes glowing softly.

Basilisk's eyes flash as he/she turns a critter to stone, then eats it.

Basilisk rattles his/her dorsal plates in contentment/nervously/angrily.

Basilisk's eyes flash as he/she stares intently at a nearby critter, which turns to stone.

Basilisk tears into his/her master's/mistress's pack, searching for rocks or gems to snack on.

Basilisk slinks off before returning with a petrified critter, which he/she devours hungrily.

Basilisk slinks off before returning with a petrified critter, which he/she places at his/her master's/mistress's feet as a gift.

Basilisk snarls and flares his/her facial fins before charging at (hostile target), eyes glowing fiercely.

Basilisk rumbles softly in his/her throat as he/she lies down close by his/her master/mistress to relax.

Basilisk leans protectively against his/her master/mistress, staring intensely at (friendly/neutral target).

Basilisk stamps his/her foremost legs against the ground, giving vent to a low growl as he/she glares at (hostile target).

Basilisk's tail thrashes from side to side as he/she stares at a nearby critter, pondering whether or not to turn it to stone.

Basilisk stamps his/her foremost legs against the ground and writhes from side to side impatiently. Let's do something already!

Basilisk rests his/her head against the side of his/her master's/mistress's leg and rumbles softly.

@Veph, Teigan, and Kalli: Thank you so much, guys! I'm really happy you like them, I've always loved the basilisks and wanted to contribute to their family. ^_^ If I come up with any more, I'll add them to the thread. And when the expansion finally goes live, I'll gladly help with the quilen and crane families.

Here's a few emotes for the dog family from when I was discussing it with Teigan:

Dog bounds around his/her master/mistress.

Dog bounds around his/her master/mistress, hoping for a handout.

Dog rears up on his/her hind legs, places his/her paws on his/her master's/mistress's shoulders, and begins to lick his/her face.

Dog grabs a piece of cloth in his/her mouth and shakes his/her head from side to side, growling happily.

I was sad that the bouncy emote had been removed, since it was the defining emote for Toph's vargul blighthound, Trailblaze, so I spoke to Teigan about it, and we came up with one that hopefully keeps some aspect of the dog family by being a little playful, while being neutral between mastiffs and demon dogs. I also added a second version of it (I hope that's okay, Teigs!) The second one, I'd brought up before on an earlier page of the thread, my favorite cat family emote incorporated into the dog family. The last one I came up with as a spur of the moment thing, since I've been around plenty of dogs during my life, and many of them would grab and shake some of their toys. If you guys don't like these that much, feel free to disregard them. ^_^;

I disappeared from the forums for a while for various reasons, but with the new pet families revealed I thought I'd come back and toss out a few ideas :)

Goats

Goat paws at the ground
-- restlessly
-- nervously
-- in attempt to uncover buried food

Goat bleats loudly.
-- Answering calls can be heard in the distance
-- A faint answering bleat comes from miles away
-- He/She listens, but no answer comes

Goat tosses his/her head
-- shaking off irritating insects
-- showing off his/her impressive horns

Goat stamps the ground and lowers his/her head threateningly at (hostile target)

Goat leaps expertly atop
-- a large rock and scans the area
-- a tall structure and scans the area

Goat flicks his/her ears
-- playfully at his/her master/mistress/(friendly target)
-- inquisitively at a passing critter

Goat stretches his/her neck back to scratch an annoying itch with his/her horns

Goat nibbles on his/her master's/mistress'/(friendly target)'s shirt

Goat playfully headbutts his/her master/mistress, almost knocking them over

Goat rears up and waves his/her sharp hooves at (hostile target)

Goat carefully excavates a small dip
-- to rest in
-- searching for salt

Goat licks at his/her master's/mistress' pack, discovering a salty patch

Goat prances around
-- happily
-- daintily
-- tossing his/her head to show off his/her long, curved horns

Porcupines (WIP)

Porcupine flares his/her razor-sharp quills
-- for show
-- aggressively at (hostile target)

Porcupine rattles his/her spines threateningly at (hostile target)

Porcupine snuffles around on the ground, searching for something tasty

Porcupine excavates a small hole
-- hoping for a fungal snack
-- looking for salt to lick
-- and digs up a surprised critter

Porcupine stamps his/her feet and hisses at (hostile target)

Porcupine whines at his/her master/mistress, begging for food.

Porcupine grunts
-- contentedly
-- irritably

Cranes - I feel Cranes could benefit well in sharing Tallstrider emotes, except maybe "Gnaws lovingly in his/her master/mistress' armour" and "Gnaws sadly on his/her master's/mistress' pack, where the food is kept." For both of course you could simply replace "gnaws on" with "pecks at". I also noticed a small error in one of the tallstrider emotes. You have "looks for fruit tree" instead of "looks for a fruit tree" :)

Crane warbles a soothing melody

Crane whistles a complex tune

Crane fishes in a nearby pond
-- hoping to catch a snack
-- and lands a catch which he/she then
---- swallows in one gulp
---- presents to his/her master/mistress

Crane pecks at an unfortunate frog
-- but misses
-- then snags and eats it

Quilen and water striders may come soon.

I have no intention on taming a goat come MoP, but those are really nice! So are the porcupine and crane emotes! Great job!

Just as a couple of small nitpicks...if a porcupine were going to spread out its quills, it would be "flare," not "flair." Also, an emote where the porcupine rattles its quills might be a good one, as I believe RL porcupines do that as a defensive bluff.

EDIT: Also...I don't think porkies do the whole rolling into a ball thing. That's hedgehogs. Or echidnas. :D

I don't think the happiness thing is working correctly. I turned it off, but I'm still getting stuff like
"Frio (spirit beast) gives his master a dirty look and sulks away, disgusted."
"Pyrus (turtle) desperately noses around, hoping to find food."

I don't want to use this addon if it makes my pets whiny, angry, and disgusted at me. 0.o
Also, my silithid colossus is a wee bit too massive to be "maniacally jumping in a circle" around me. Unfortunately I see no easy way to remove or change the wording of this emote without probably screwing something up majorly.

Well, you could feed them. I leave the happiness thing on and give them food. Unfortunately, if it is bugged that Efindel's turf not mine. I can't fix a bug of that nature.

As for the colossus leaping around, yeah, it doesn't fit. But I wrote the silithid emotes back when the silithid tank (the little bouncy one) was our only silithid option. I've considered rewriting those somewhat, but there are higher priority families and a whole slew of new ones to consider right now :)

Man I have been looking for something like this for a long time. Are the downloads in the OP up to date with peoples suggestions or do i need to edit them myself. I'm on a mac so going though 58 pages trying to find a way to edit is going to take a long time.

I can't wait to log in and see how this work, I'm guessing this really brings the personality to the pets. I saw someone state that pets can be changed to male/female is that in pet emote as well or other addons.
