I honestly doubt they're going to make any significant changes to the female model when it's so far developed and well received, I'm just stating the things I personally don't care for on it. I'm not hating it, I'm not saying it's terrible by any means, but if I go in and select things I'd want to see changed if I could, I would definitely work on the mouth shape a bit more and get rid of the puffy rodent look and make it more in tune with the male bear face.

oh I understand. But I'm sure you remember the hell we went through with the female worgen too.

I personally don't think the alpha female worgen were any better than what we ended up with. They just didn't have time to do that race properly at all, Pandaren are much more solid and thought out. Even Nethaera on the official forums more or less stated they weren't planning on changing the females, they're very happy with them.

Well compared to what we have no, people are demanding we have the alphas back. Least the alphas didnt have that snarl.

You're right that the skeletal structure of the face doesn't change but the shading on the face goes a long way towards changing the overall look of the face. IMO. Different shading can make for a softer vs more fierce look.

I agree. The puffy nose just doesn't look right at all. I think the body shape looks appropriately "panda" enough for me though.

I'm hoping there are some more face options, like something more mature looking, all these picks of them look like little kids to me

I'm loving both of the models but I can see where the nose is drawing issue. I wouldn't say that it's puffy cheeks or snout that causes the inverted look. If you remove the beard to the posted male model, it seems that they have rather similar head structure. I think it's the width of the snout, the top edge of the nose isn't spread flat across it, causing the lower edge to seem wider and inverting the heart shape. Easily cured by widening the width of the bridge of the nose/snout or by texturing a flatter top to the nose. Will have to see what other faces look like.
With the snout being such a dominate feature of the face, it's not surprising that it could really offset the feel. Personally, I'm not really concerned with maintaining that level of realism with the models, thus it doesn't bother me more than slightly that they don't look as panda as they could. We do, after all, have blue space goats.

That might be a matter of opinion. To me, it doesnt make any lick of difference. Just one has a fatter nose.

I think the female pandaren model covered the main points (not too skinny, not too heavy, not too tall, not too short, etc), but beyond that I doubt there's one look that will satisfy everyone - some dislike the snout, some dislike the cheeks... personally I wouldn't mind if they'd padded out the hips / thighs just a smidge... etc.
Although as Veph said, there's still a fair chance they might at least diversify the muzzle and such within the normal range of face variants. We'll see.

Yush. Overall despite little minor nitpicks people might have, it's got the big thumbs up.

Vephriel wrote:Yeah, a little bit Meg. I'm not as hung up over the cutesy fact as I am that it just doesn't look panda-ish, not like the males do. Again, this is only one face option, the only one they had ready for now, so I'll withhold judgement until we see all of their face options, I'm sure there'll be some different expressions and hopefully different nose and mouth shapes. I don't' mind if they want to put in a cutesy face in for those that want it, I just hope that it's not the base shape for every single one, because right now my biggest complaint is that it looks more like a rodent.
The males have a nice wide snout, a proper looking nose, and just overall a much better bear feel.

I do agree that the female's nose look more rodent like, but I'm wondering if this will change depending if you make a normal panda or a red panda, since the later is really more rodent like and very close in shape to a racoon instead of a bear.

The black and white pandas have the same face, there's no difference. It's the only face they have for them now currently though, so hopefully the other options will vary the snout shape a bit.

looking at the comparison on the models, personally I think they look fine. Blizzard tents to make males more true to the inspiration, and make females more petite and toned down, or more delicate.
I do hope though that there will be different faces and different fur patterns (and not linked together like worgen)

Hmm well I did read somewhere they should have at least 10 to 20 or so face models, hope this turns out true.

Goblins have face parts (noses, ears, and chins) that can change their actual model shape depending on which options you pick. The pandas may also get that.
Either way I do like what I've seen so far. Do want red despite them not being actual pandas.

The official Pandaren page has an animated model of both the female and male to look at (just standing in an idling pose, but still):

Also I like the screenshot of the female used on the WoW Launcher, she definitely looks better in an action pose.
