I love the pink one a lot. I'm not afraid to like pink, it's a girly colour and I'm a girl sooo... Why not? :P

The red/blue turtle also looks really awesome. I don't really wanna think too much about taming any of them right now though since we don't know which ones we'll even be able to tame...

I don't think we need to fret about Blizzard replacing our cats just yet. The green/orange skin did make me wonder, but the creepy eyes on that skin and the dark brown one lead me to think these are going to be "corrupted" beasts, and the resemblance to Winna's kitten may just be coincidence.

As nice as these are, I wouldn't want the old model to be replaced completely. As others have mentioned they are not really suitable for that; they don't have the saber fangs and are too heavyset compared to the small tiger model. I don't really want my small, sleek (although a bit boxy) ghost saber replaced with this musclebound tiger.

I adore those tigers, absolutely adore them! Why, oh why is my stable nearly full?! While I consider it unlikely that the old models are being re-vamped with these ones, I would not mind at all if they were, though it would be great if they came in a sabre variety. My beloved sabre would be one handsome devil if his model was updated to one of these. Though I could get some on my alts, I would love to have space on my main for a few of these amazing tigers.

I much prefer the stone Qilin to the natural, but I wouldn't mind at all if they are not tameable.

I really like the yak model, though it is, almost definitley, an untameable grazing beast.

The cranes are quite beautiful, and I love the dragon turtle model. I don't know if I'd even try to get Terropene if I could have one of those.

And how amazing are the Cloud Serpents? Unfortunately, they are probably dragonkin, and, unreasonable as it may be, I would absolutely love one. This is my dream beast, right here; I would camp endlessly for one. I will stare at them in the wild and weep at their majesty. They will make gorgeous mounts, but if I could tame one, I would be insanely happy.

I've been way too busy this week to post these models, let alone keep up with all the MoP news. Awesome job Wain.

The only thing I would tame here would be the green crane skin. It's almost like a Hahadori v2.0 with the same green and orange plumage, but I'll never replace my beloved Hahadori.

Also, I would be perfectly fine if all cat models where all replaced with this new model, but I never attached to any of the old blocky cats. The square teeth on the old model bugs me too much to tame one. =(

Well like I was saying....can't compare mounts to hunter pets as it's an entirely different ballfield.

I personally love pets having a common counterpart. that way it makes everyone happy and no one is a special snowflake. They did it with two of madexxes colors and I know a ton of hunters that are happy, considering madexx is random and has an unreal spawn timer.

After some help from Wain I got some of the files to work in WMV. I found the other colours of cloud serpent under the Serpent God file, so sadly I don't think there will be mount versions of these (they're gorgeous though!).

Thanks Veph!! I saw those in there but I was kinda over it by that stage and didn't take any pictures of the "gods" models. They needed a much darker background to render properly and I was worn out ;) Yours came out beautifully!

THAT PURPLE AND BLUE ONE :O

Seriously, wouldn't put it past Blizzard to make those Challenge or Achievement-related rewards.

Did WMV get updated to be usable with MoP?

Not when I checked yesterday. In MoP, they've split up the old Art.mpq file (which has all the model data in the current game) into two separate files: Models and Textures. WMV of course currently has no idea what to do about this.

So basically to get WMV to view the models you have to extract the data from the MoP files and copy them into a copy of Art.mpq from the current game. Then set WMV to read data from that copy.

You need to make your own modified copy of Art.mpq (copy it from your game, don't edit the game copy! :) . I have instructions for doing that at the start of this thread: http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13887

Make a copy of Art.mpq on your desktop. Use Ladik's MPQ Editor to extract all the model data from both MOP data files: Models and Textures (which has the skin files). Thankfully once you extract both you end up with both the model and skin info together in the same model folders, just like it is in the live game.

Open your Art.mpq copy with MPQ editor. Click on Creatures. Drag and drop the extracted model folders of interest (from wherever you saved them) into the Window to copy them in. It saves automatically. Open WMV and configure it to use the Art.mpq from the desktop rather than the game copy. Restart it. And it should work :) (copied from a PM I sent someone who asked how to to this :) )

I was just thinking... while those silkworms aren't likely to ever be tameable, I wonder if they plan on making correspondingly-coloured silk moths. They could use something like a lunar moth shaped wing and would make amazingly beautiful pets. They just need to modify the wing of the regular moth model.

Perfect! :) The caterpillar stage even has spots like the moth.
