Okay, Saturo? This is jsut based on three level 1's played out of their zones to level 5, but it's becoming a trend. The quests are different, yes you're still killing boars and wolfs and troggs and ghosts and what not, but the circumstances have changed from vanilla and they added something cool in each zone. It does feel a lot smoother, the quests don't have you back-tracking two camps back to go to an area you scoured clean five minutes ago.

On the hunter end, it's great to have a pet with me pre-level 10, but it's also annoying that I can't control it until 10 as well, but those incidents are few and far between. As far as non-hunters go, specifically new class combinations: It's not a big deal.

No, really.

No one is going to comment that Dark Iron dwarves are in Anvilmar teaching mages and warlocks or that a dwarf has a cluster of totems upstairs. Troll druids are doing their thing like they've always been there. That tauren paladin trainer is new to the camp? Really? Hadn't noticed, now I'll need ten wolf pelts if you want these gloves.

So the circumstances are new and the quests are different to match them. The whole flow of the quests feels great. Echo Isles, I've nicknamed Epic Isles, everyone should roll a troll after cata to see the place and do the chains. Required reading for all horde members. Actually it was interesting because the new troll zone started feeling a lot like an alliance zone when my trainers and quest givers kept complimenting me, and then jogging to the next quest giver an npc caught up and brilliantly downplayed it all saying to the effect, "They told you you were one of their best students too, eh?" THAT is the Horde! you are not a unique snowflake, you are in the !@#$ with the rest of us and you're going to pull your weight. I cracked up.

If the new gnomergan business has been implemented, by lvl 5 all a gnome hears is "we've liberated gnomergan, yay!" So i'm assuming that it's later in the dun morough quests that you visit.

haven't started a goblin or worgen yet, so you'll have to wait to hear from me about the new races.

Dark Irons teaching mages? That's pretty cool, actually. xD

Do the gnomes start in Gnomer rather than Anvilmar then?

It all sounds awesome! Actually, I'm really glad that they made the additional classes seem so natural. I always though it'd be weird if they just had them there, being awesome and everyone noticed them because they were new and shiny and, etc.

One question. Other than the fact that you can't control it, is the pre- level 10 pet much different than a pet on defensive? I'm personally thinking that'll probably be how it works, but you know, you've played it and know whether or not my asumptions are correct.

Also, are the new pets going to be a put-off for new hunters? I don't mean those who blatently don't know what they're doing and never let their pet attack and stay only in melee range but can't figure out why they're dying all the time. I mean those players who've been playing WoW for ages and decide to reroll as a hunter. The ones who comment on how pre-level 10 everything feels just a little off but can't get used to having a pet and controlling it, etc.

Wow, that question made no sense.

I guess what I'm asking is more of this: Does the level 1 pet show new hunters just how hard it can be to play well as a hunter when you can't manage your pet, does it show them all the things that can go horribly, blatently wrong without destroying their wish to ever pick up a ranged weapon again? Does it capture the nuances we have to learn, especially at later levels? And will it bring some gosh darned respect for us?

Well, I guess I can't expect it to do all of that. And none of what I just said really made any sense either. If you can decipher that and figure out what I mean (which I can't seem to get into words) I applaud you.

I understand, or at least I think I do.

Are these new hunters going to learn the basics of kiting the way we've all had to? When you get concussive shot with no pet, it's a pretty big deal, since it makes kiting that much easier. There's more to it than that, but it's essentially a question of whether these new hunters will learn how to really survive as a hunter.

Yeah, I think that's about what I meant.

I can't wait to see all those people who purposely broke my traps and such fumbling over the machanics of micromanaging a pet. Actually, I'd just be happy to see their pet aggro everything in site and them die going "WHYYYYY".

Yeah, mages breaking my frost traps piss me off.

"Will you stop doing that?! I'm trying to keep the mobs off us while we're killing other ones! Wait until the tank has finished killing what he's killing!"
"No."
"GDSDKSJHDKJSHDK. ARGHHHH."
/died from mob getting untrapped. Again.

The above is something that seems to happen a lot. AND THEN I GET YELLED AT BY SOMEONE SAYING "TRAP PLZ". :C

Amusingly, mages complain about hunters shooting their sheeps all the time.

It's all a question of which class you're playing. xD

Ha! See, I'm always worried about screwing stuff like that up, so I make sureI'm not targeting the same thing the mage is targeting, and stay away from sheep. The first time a mage kept destroying my traps, I thought that maybe I was accidently on the same target as he was. That's when I started the "see what he's targeting" practice.
Nah, apparently a lot of mages seem to think that frost traps are really the mobs using that mage spell that protects them from harm and therefore MUST BE DESTROYED.

Keep in mind, however, that these were all in PuGs. In a dungeon I didn't even want to do, no less. Plus, I have terrible luck with PuGs. Things always take freakishly long and no one knows what they're doing. Especially me. I'm more of a battleground gal. I'm just gonna auumeI got stuck with the worst mages in existence and nt hold it against the class. Especially because I made an alt mage and it does craptons of damage to things like 3 levels above it-- at level 7. <3

Ack, I seem to have gotten super off topic. Sorry 'bout that.

From what I can gather, the days of rushing through instances are gone in Cata so you should start seeing raid masters taking the time to EXPLAIN again. Explain what each person has to do and when that happens and you're clear on your job it makes running dungeons a whole lot more fun. And gl with that mage...yes they do kick ass damage but be prepared for a couple "slow spots" where it seems your power has dropped considerably. Hang through it and you'll be back on top.

lol Ok, let me rephrase my request... if anybody gets into beta, and you have the hive queen as a pet, can you pull her out of you stable to see if they have shrunk her? I have her tamed, but she is gargantuan. I am hoping they shrink her up like the drones.
