Hey Tilo, I still have the quest meats if you want me to help you.

I will be gone until about Sunday afternoon, however, as the hubby and I are going out of town for little bit.
But if you still need help when I get back, I would be more than happy to!
Edit: The toon with the quest is my priest, Lysende.

ah thank you much for the offer I'd have to bounce one of my exotics for it, so was considering Steamwheedle Cartel instead, where my other hunter is at, whom' has an extra slot for such an oily gooey wolfy ^^ Regardless thanks though for the offer

hunter= set trap a few paces away. quest person(desnt matter if hunter is horde or alliance) stand a pace or two back form the trap. and uses the meat. wolf is pulled, into the trap. i started the tame around 8.5 seconds left but thats doing it as a lvl 73 with almost no haste. takes some trial and error but you will get it dont worry.

....if the quest prson stands behind the trap, the wolf don't come up to you when it's tossed, but ahead. hm.. little confused. :/

Well yeah.. but do I set trap between where I will be taming and the pet, like an even distance? or trap near my feet with quest buddy right on me, or aways behind me?

trap near your feet, it sohuld be just a right aobut in front of you already, unless ur using freezing arrow. quest person idealy should be ontop of you but behind works also

...but how does that work? they toss the beat, the dog don't come right up to you, but where the meat lands. That's whats confusing me. so trap by my feet, dog would never run into it. O.o

no they throw meat towards wolf. it eats it then turns neutral and runs right into ur trap, he should also have a buff that has the same icon as ur Feed Pet spell, it says it hass a 1 minute duration but ive found it to go away at about 35seconds left

I have tamed him some half an hour ago (lvl 76 with low haste which makes my tame beast almost normal), so the idea is the following, when you throw the meat the wolf will run to the person that threw the meat, so the trap has to be half way between the meat thrower ( what a nem;p) and the wolf,
when i trapped the wolf, i waited till there is between 7 and 6 seconds left on the trap and hit the tame, he would run out of trap and despawn shortly, took me around 15 tries, yes it's tricky, but doable:)
sometimes he would despawn right in the trap, or get tamed normal, keep trying!;)
if anyone wants him on Tarren mill Eu - i'll be happy to help;) just PM me

Do you let the dog eat, or trap it before it does?

* You throw a freezing arrow/trap down a few paces in front of the wolf.
* You or your ally friend throw the meat to the wolf from about 7 yards or so.
* The meat-throw turns the wolf neutral, and it runs forward into the trap.
* Wait until ~6-7 seconds left on trap, and hit Tame.
* When the trap breaks, the wolf will continue running to the person who threw food, then stand still for several seconds before turning, running for 1 second or so and despawning. The goal is to have the tame end JUST as the pet despawns. Too soon and the pet will lose the buff; too late, and the tame will not finish. With 11.77% haste on this gear set, I timed my tame to begin with just under 6 secs left on the trap.
Reposting again since some folks still seem confused by the exact tactics
By the way, mine is also named Void

Finally got it.
IF YOU HAVE NO HASTE GEAR
Stand at max range to toss meat.
Set trap right in the middle, trap placement is tricky.
Trap needs to go off RIGHT BEFORE the dog eats, with out the pup taking a step forward (or TO big a step forward) to get to it and start nomming.
Start taming at 8 secs left on trap.
Depending on if the pup takes to big a step forward (losing that small moment) it should start eating right away, then run off, vanishing just as tame goes off.
You'll know right away if it works on resummon, cause pets set to AGGRESSIVE x.x

The trap doesn't need to go off before he eats. I used the bait to pull him into the trap. See the info above. I think all that matters is, after he comes out of the trap he finishes his run-to-you-pause-run-away deal.
Your range from trap and tame timing (based on time left on trap) should be all that matters, and you do NOT need haste, just need to time it for YOUR haste.
Btw, got a new "costume" to stand around in org with when I'm bored, & a pic to go with...

As soon as the wolf gains the eating debuff (it has the same icon as the feed pet spell) he has 10 seconds left, so you need to time your tame beast spell to have JUST less then 10 seconds to go by the time it gains that debuff.
To do this I suggest you take off any gear with haste.
Edit: There is no way were gonna be able to keep these : < just in case though I guess.

Horde,
I did a faction change cause I'm too lazy to troll for an ally's help. It's worth noting that I had the [Nothing Boring About Borean] achievement before the xfer, so the quest chain was not available to me anyways. Yay. Luckily, I have an ally alt on my multi-box account who hadn't done it.
In case you are on Terokkar, PST Ezmode Hordeside and I'll happily lend her to you.
Took quite a few tries but finally he was mine. Would trap him at about 7-10 yards from the meat-slinger, and begin taming at the six second (remaining) mark. The timing will depend on the level of haste in your gear. You wanna time it so that he breaks free of the trap a little before halfway through your tame, so he has time to nom, dump, and scram. I did not need pots.
I named him Voidcore, to match my Skoll, whose name is Warpcore. :)
