Sorry for the slow response! Writing and I don't get along like we wish we did.

Black Wolf - Wolf

Upon receiving my assignment I groaned a little-- a wolf? I don't like wolves!-- but then brightened up: I'd been hoping to get assigned a family I hadn't already picked out a pet from to bolster my stables, so hey, at least this was sparing me the headache of deciding which wolf I dislike least. Anyways, a quick perusal of Petopia later, Eolian was off to the Hinterlands!
Settling on a full-grown raiding wolf (rather than a puppy), the tame was quick and painless.
And, well, since she had other business across the Eastern Kingdoms anyways, Eolian promptly ignored her new wolf to go do Extremely Important Things, like uncapping her skinning skill.
...what?
Anyways, not too much later the queue for Upper Blackrock Spire popped, yay! Little did she realize that she was about to embark on a genocidal cleansing of unprecedented proportions! No, really, the tank had something against the baddies in there (read: rep-lust). So he... promptly ran off to do LOWER Blackrock Spire. Great. Well, the upshot is Eolian and whatsitsname had lots of time to bond. Err, right, naming... names... around the time we rumbled up to ruin Voone's day, she divined what the wolf represented, and thus what its name would be. Say hello to Thievery, ladies and gentleorcs. Or for all you non-orcs, Urukruka.
The cleansing continued, as the tank aimlessly raged into whatever moved funny and Eolian stood in the back helpfully aiming him in approximately the right direction. A couple times I had a passing snicker at how the dungeon to try out my new wolf featured so many OTHER wolves.

They were everywhere!
Anyways the run got boring from y'all's perspective when we finished clearing LBRS and started on UBRS-- our tank poofed and the string of replacements were all kinds of incompetent, so lucky little Urukruka got benched while my beetle did all the heavy "no no no oh god get off the healer" lifting.
ANYWHO, I got out of Blackrock eventually, and gave him a spin out in the Blasted Lands-- we demonically placed some bodies back together!
We set tadpoles free!
Good times were had by all! (Except for the people we mercilessly slaughtered FOR THE HORDE! Also, Kum'isha. He wouldn't know what a good time was if it backed over him in a bulldozer.)
Results:
I was actually pretty pleased with Urukruka. I've generally found myself preferring the worg and northrend worg models-- coyote skins have that dumb snarl, argh-- but the worgs' run animations drive me nuts, while the coyote lope looks much better to me. Given that I spent approximately all my time watching this wolf lope hither and yon, this was a big point in its favor. Good color too, a nice inoffensive charcoal.
In terms of gameplay performance, it handled just fine. Ferocity has an unfortunate "I want 20 things and I have the talent points for 3" thing going for it at low levels, but whatever, nobody
cares about that 1% before raids. Crit aura was nice, as I expected it to be, although nothing to make me drop to my knees and cry for joy. Otherwise completely in line with my experiences with any given Ferocity pet-- "yay, it hits stuff. And then things die."
Verdict: I'll be keeping Urukruka in the stables for whenever I happen to need its services; I'm still a bit biased against wolves, and I'd rather have other pets handy when nobody much cares what I have on me. But it's a welcome addition to Eolian's collection, and I plan to keep it around as long as I can. Two thumbs up for the assignment!
