Aye what Aela said. Basically if Grandma had a Tiger gene but her Daughter(who is also Mom)did not then that gene will in no way be passed on to her Grandkids. The only genes that hatchlings can inherit are the ones that their parents possess.

Yup, quote from the FR encyclopedia:

Breeding Genes
Genes are passed down to offspring by inheritance from their mother and father, and each type of gene has several rarity levels that dictate their chance of being exhibited in future generations. Pairing rarer genes with more common genes will always result in a higher probability of the more common gene being passed on.

Example: Harold is pairing two dragons that have Basic and Tiger primary genes respectively. The Tiger primary gene would have an unlikely chance of being passed down due to its high rarity. However, if both parents exhibited the Tiger gene, the chance of it being shown in the offspring is 100%.

Genes are only inherited from the mother and father (Flight Rising does not utilize a Mendel Inheritance Model), so even if there are distinctive genes in the grandparents or great-grandparents, they will not factor into the current generation you are working on breeding.

Displayed genes are the only thing passed down. FR breeding is pretty straight forward.
(a tiger mother and a basic father have an offspring, the offspring is not tiger. That offspring will NEVER have tiger offspring unless you give it the tiger gene yourself, or breed it with a tiger mate) Whatever genes the offspring get, are the only genes that that offspring can pass on.

Well, no real luck in Coliseum for money because I can't play the money games. Got two Amaranth Moths which I NPC'd as they don't go for much more on the AH and a Leafy Moth which I kept because I didn't have one and have a Familiar spot open. Got a bunch of those leaf treasures that give 100g and a chance at gems. Having a weird bug with my Leafy Moth though. I know you can only have one of a Familiar attached to each dragon, if I remember right, but for some reason when I clicked the heart to bond with the new Leafy Moth it said I had already done it today. So I gained nothing from it. Can I not bond with him while I am bonding with the Amaranth Moth on another dragon?

Familiars are bugged right now. There's a thread about it on the bug report forums.

Ah well. Still, as homely as Gurthok is (he's the spinach and pumpkin hatchling i got), from what I can tell from the sim, his -babies- will be gorgeous given the female guardians I've gotten recently.

So I will put up with his fugliness in the hopes of amazingness later on.

I sold my blood and black tundra girl Krill overnight, and that finally pushed me to my target of 250K which I'd been saving assidiously for, for the last couple of days. Whenever I checked the marketplace, it was bursting with stacks and stacks of Pearlie scrolls, but now? Nope. So I decided to cough up 110K for the eye spot gene for Seranla, because I just wanted to buy something after all that saving. Well, time to earn another 100K then...



I think she's quite pretty though, and when she becomes a Pearlie, she'll be even more perfect!

Ok, thanks. Wasn't sure if because they were both moths if I could only get the Bonding bonus from one at a time.

Yeah, they got bugged. Familiars already on dragons can be clicked and earn gold/chests multiple times (please don't abuse this; I made sure to click all my familiars only once after I noticed it. Would hate to see anyone get banned), and putting a new familar on a dragon locks it out from being bonded with. Not sure what happened there.
