I'll first do my review on Spot now, as I'm still looking for Aotona (seems to hate me this guy...).
I already wrote, that I had a tan barking wolf, but didn't like his name anymore, so this challenge just came in handy to have a reason to change him.
I took my old wolf with me to Theramore, where I had the plan to exchange dogs

I would take Spot and leave them my wolf behind.... No one should notice. Of course it didn't work out as I planned, so here is my story.
I arrived at Theramore. And this is a challenge, so I just didn't want to fly in on my mount, descend, tame and hearth away - no this should be a classic tame for a classic pet. I dismounted in front of the gates and my first impression was: "Ah, this will be no problem at all - guards are still vanilla-levels".
I shot the gate guards quickly with one shot each and contiued the same thing inside, when suddendly something hit me with an arrow. I ignored it first, then noticed my health sinking. I went all "wtf?" looked around and found the guilty one (first I thought it might be and Alliance guy trying to defend Theramore, 'cause you get PvP flagged there, when you finish their guards off) - it was a level 85 guard shooting at me. I killed her, but she kept spawning again and again (zombies *screams and runs*). Nice, thank you, ever lasting guards is something our bosses need, not some stupid island. I finally managed to sneak around the guard, kill her again and was out of range, when she spawned again. She had made me loose some of my health, but it quickly filled up again. I stumbled across two other 85 guards, but they didn't spawn again once they were dead.
I got to Spots home and waved my wolf goodbye and told him to be a good quy and not to eat too many alliance-marines there.
I tamed spot without no problem and took a screenshot with him in his old home (never mind the squirrel, it just wanted to be in the picture, too). I kept his name Spot, as it seemed to be the only fitting name for him, since I stole him from his former masters.
Animations and sounds:
Spot is a vanilla pet so he really looks pixelated and 2Dish if you look too close. But I always loved his sandy colour and his cute coyote figure. He barks when you click on him (like the low level wolfes from Mulgore) and sometimes sits down and howls (didn't manage to get a snap of this). He uses the same animations as foxes (or foxes use the same animations as he does - to be correct): he scratches behind his ears or sniffes the ground. I adore his animations, they really give this pixel-pile a soul worth loving.
His swimming animation is a dog-like paddle with his legs, and he seems to like a bath once in a while.
When he runs, he runs like I would expect from a dog or wolf, a nice galopp besides Larkania.
Sometimes I just think he's too small for a pet next to a Tauren. I prefer the floofy worgen skins, as they appear bigger next to Larkania, but Spot is a really cute companion.
In fight he barks and growls and is all the grown up evil dog protecting his master - I like it, but it might annoy the tank or some melees who are standing close to him all time and get the full sound.
Fight:
I took Spot to a few dungeons with me. My fiancé plays a DK and so I normally don't need a cats roar of courage. Spots ability is the howl, that increases your and your party's critical strike chance - it's really nice to have it, when no warrior is around with his buff.
He really does good dps, and since I play BM, it's very important for me, that my pet does a good job.
Spot lunges at his enemies without fear, he bites them and seems really aggressive in a fight.
I will defenitly keep him, because I had one like him since level 10. The mulgore barking wolf was the second pet I tamed for Larkania (you got your first pet at level 10, when Larkania was little!) and he will never leave my stables.
I'm still looking for Aotona for the next challenge (never seen him one my server in the wild - and only two times as a pet), this is really going to take some time, I think. I have him with Morga, but I didn't tame him, my fiancé did it for me, because I wanted to give up after one month without a sighting. So be patient
