Cunningfox on DA did an awesome re-edit of the Tauren female as well.

That was the first one I saw going around on Tumblr. It's average I think. Not really a fan of their nose/lip part.

Hmm. I get the complaints about the small little nitpicks on the female tauren. I agree the cleft lit is a little odd, and I do greatly prefer a more bovine nose to the one she's sporting now. But, overall, I really do love the new model and would be more than happy to play it as is. Ultimately my nitpicks are just that. Small flaws that I would like to see changed, but, they don't destroy the model for me.

Isn't the whole point about Tauren that "they're not cows!"?

I keep hearing that from people.
And people who play Tauren always get insulted when B.Elves pull out the "we're having steak twice a week" /silly.

People have to decide, either Tauren ARE cows, or they are something else that just coincidentally resembles cows. Can't have it both ways.

I like the new Tauren look. I probably STILL won't enjoy playing one, I find them too bulky.

Its not that they're not cows.. its that the face doesn't make sense the way it is now, as mentioned in Cunningfox's picture. Its not at all consistent with either human OR Bovine nor with the old models.
It's a great model, but it does need a little tweaking. That doesn't mean it's bad.. It just means that it could be even better!

I think the "we're not cows" thing is because Tauren are not physically cows, they're bovine humanoids. Eating a tauren would be as much like eating a human as it would be like eating a cow- very strange indeed. I can totally understand other races seeing tauren as cows, though, when it comes to RP. If we had tauren IRL, we'd think of them more like animals than people, because we'd immediately think "cow" and not "human".

So it's not that tauren aren't based off of cows, it's that they're not actually full-blooded four-legged cows.

I rather like the edits that give the tauren a larger nose plate- while I'm okay with it as it is, I've always been very fond of their big mooshy noses.

I'd be okay with a larger nose plate but I've yet to see any edits that look good XD just okay.

The only thing that really annoys me about the model is the fact that they messed her eye color up. So I'm hoping that they are just showing off a new face because I really liked the vibrant eye colors that they had...
(I don't disagree with the fact that it does need a bit of tweaking in other areas though.)

Judging by how the fur color is wrong too, I don't think that the update is meant to have the same face option as the old model. Or else they messed up bigtime!

Well, I remember how their first artcraft on gnomes all the girls were all @__@ big eyed and now they've got base faces much closer to their originals so...

Well, the term is cattle, or maybe bovines. Cows are just the name for the females of the species. /overlypedanticnerd.

But yeah, I get what you're saying. Tauren aren't anthropomorphic cattle, they're tauren, and that means that they're allowed to have some differences from said animals. They don't need to be an exact hybrid of only human and bovine traits, they're allowed their own anatomical quirks.
But it's hard to ignore that they take an awful lot of their look from bovines, and their past models have shown that they do have more of a classic, square, bovine nose of love rather than the more triangular nose they have currently. And I admit I'm with Lupis in that I'm very fond of the more bovine looking nose. Also, that the slight cleft in the upper lip looks a little... off to me. At least from static screenshots. I'll have to see the model in motion before really allowing myself to get bothered by it.

Well, I guess we can only hope that they are giving us more face options lol.

Well, currently the noses on the different faces are DRASTICALLY different... some are just a weird almost lizardlike snoot, others are jet intakes... so who knows.

I think the new noses (the Blizz ones) have grown on me to the point where now the old ones look not as good >.> I mean sure I'll run with it if they did change them again as it's their model but I think I'm now fine with it XD

Oh man, they look so much better updated with those new faces. That gives me a lot of hope! I'm really excited to see the new faces, now.

I agree, looking very promising. Some of the faces could still use some texture tweaks I think - makeup, etc.; nothing to do with the model itself. But I know they're still working on them. Either way though I am really happy with most if not all of the faces. I think we'll see an especially big change with gnome female... I can't wait to see some of the faces when they're done fixing the extremely wide eyes, too-high eyebrows and creepy smile.
