I had the thought "what if it's not what quest there IS, but which one there ISN'T." Of course, it might as Thwip suggests be one related to the Clutchkeepers that we can't yet access.
In other words, maybe it's only when a certain daily is *out* of rotation that they spawn? And if Thwip is right it'll be one regarding the Clutchkeepers, and when that daily isn't up, the Broodlings are free to spawn... /ponder

Thwip wrote:I'm starting to think there is a daily attached to the Clutchkeepers that we just can't access yet, rather then it being on the Broodlings.
I'm starting to think that, too, since everything aside from the fact about the clutchkeepers is so damned random. There is no noticeable spawn timers, there are apparently no starter dailies that they're tied to, and so on...
I've been watching this area for hours in the past few days and I've seen tons of other rare tamables show up in the meantime (which I was beaten to the punch to). I just can't believe that a common type of mob would be so sporadic and a no-show for days on end. Sure. It could happen, but I just don't see it.

But why aren't they out all day then? They seem to be out only for a few hours, then they go away.

Oh hi! Just registered to try and help on this issue. I happened to log right now and npc scan rang TAMABLE BROODLINGS! . I hadn't grabbed any dailies but the ones up were :
- Wisp away
- Burn Victims
- The harder they fall
- Hostile Elements
Good luck to you all!

Yea got up this morning, 6 AM and no broodlings - just Clutchkeepers. Must be like I originally thought then, a daily no one can access yet.

Checked at server reset on Zangarmarsh (6am EST), and no broodlings / just clutchkeepers.
So far it seems like people not looking for the broodlings have the best luck at finding them...
EDIT: kind of a long shot but the one quest clutchkeepers are listed as being involved in at wowhead is Fire in the Skies
http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29290 ... this is for a different NPC ID (53478) from the one that (I believe) normally inhabits Widow's Clutch (53656).

I saw a Fire Hawk--not sure if before or after daily quest reset, can't recall

But it appeared very very briefly over by Skarr's rocks, on the Furnace side. I'm not the only one who saw it; it phased in or spawned on the ground, friendly, then vanished.

That's one of the NPCs that phases in when you unlock the questgivers up there.

It's the one you mount for the bombing quest, I believe.

Dailies reset on Shu'halo a few minutes ago... Clutchkeepers disappeared, and thus far neither they nor the broodlings are around.
I've seen the fire hawks every time I can remember, just circling fire plume.

Actually...I was looking for these little guys. <,< I think I just got extremely lucky with having them pop up for me at reset.
I also saw that Fire Hawk perusing around over my head when I found the littles. He was labeled as a boss, though.

There's a few different ones--Alysrazor's the boss, and then there's hostile Fire Hawks over Fireplume thingy.
But the one I saw was an actual *friendly* one, and it didn't only appear to me--making me think it phased in for a daily nobody's unlocked yet, or something. Although if as Kalliope says it's just there as standard, then I'm not sure if it fits

Just checked and the little skitterers are still skittering around 3 hours later.
...Also apparently, I just missed Deth'talic. *sadface* But she walked away with a home rather then a death, so I'm ok with that.

I was just saying they seem to have better luck on the whole...
EDIT: Just checked on Shu'halo and 2 1/2 hours after reset neither clutchkeepers nor broodlings are there.
EDIT2: Same thing on Shu'halo 4 hrs after reset. Strange.

Well, I'm having little to no luck on finding these little guys.
The clutchkeepers reset at 4am alright, but saw nothing for a hour and nothing still four hours later. I'm half wondering if someone killed them when I wasn't around or if I really have that poor of luck. Bleh.

It's a little over 6 hours since Shu'halo reset, and there have been no clutchkeepers or broodlings during that time (checking every 30-60 minutes or so anyways...).
This is my theory based on what I've seen so far: the Widow's Clutch and surrounding plateau has a "green theme" that is set at each soft server reset, and can be one of the following:
1) Clutchkeepers (maybe 80% likely?)
2) Broodlings (10%?) - unclear whether this will switch over to Clutchkeepers later or if it lasts till next reset.
3) Neither (10%?)
Again this is just speculation based on limited data, obviously...
EDIT: 8 1/2 hours with neither clutchkeepers nor broodlings on Shu'halo...
