In another thread, Veph posted concept art for a blue tarantula. I thought I'd try to make a skin that was similar just using colour channel mixes. While I couldn't match her concepts exactly, I did get some interesting blue ones. I think the first one is probably the best:


I also tried to make a blue version of the magma tarantula, and came up something that is uncannily like Deth'tilac's tarantula cousin:


While creating these I thought I'd also see what happened when I just swapped colour channels around (which is really fast and easy but can often produce some cool results). Here's some of the more interesting ones. I really love the first one, which looks like old blood:

I <3 <3 <3 that first blue one, the tarantula death and all of the ones in the last panel! Especially those reds and the vivid purples. Red/purple are my favorite colors :3

Along the same theme, here's a few blue / purple spiders using the barbed "giant spider" model. They come out quite pretty:


And what child could resist this cute and playful fellow? It's My Little Giant Venomous and Barbed Death Spider:

I also had a go at generating skins for a couple of the tiniest untameable families that might be good candidates for future pet families. For starters, pterrordaxes and spore walkers.

I got three pterrordax colours that I'm happy with:

I like that first sandy fox, the middle blue tarantula, the blood red tarantula, the red and pink spiky spider, all the ptrerodaxes and all the spore walkers.

Ooooooooooooooh! This one's my favorite.

The purple lava spider is sooooo Veph!

Oh wow, those blue tarantulas turned out fantastic! I honestly love all three.

I'm not entirely sure about most of the spiders and dinos posted, but ALL of the spore walkers look intriguing!

I tried to create something like the turtles with the dark drakeadon/void terror skins from over on this thread, but this time only using colour channels from normal turtle skins. I didn't quite get the same colours but did produce a few interesting dark ones all the same:

So do I Unfortunately it still has a few non-turtley things about the skin. The eyes are easy enough to fix. There also seems to be a sharp break in the texture at the neck for some reason that would need to be fixed. But maybe we can get it working just right I'd need Spiritbinder's expertise on that one

I'll put up a few more dark turtle skins tonight. All the in-game skins are so bright I'm enjoying making something a bit different.
