Okay, people like the rare aspect of their pets, but does the whole family have to be rare? Just seems silly to get upset over it if a change were to happen. Yeah its nice, but I really don't care either way. It potentially could make some players happy, and if common things bother someone, they don't have to tame it. I love spirit beasts in general, I would tame one if there was a common option, as I have tamed many of the current ones we have. I just think they are really neat in general.
well the same thing could be said if you dont want to put in the effort to tame it then dont tame it you got 38 other classes to chose from

Maybe that's the reason you're looking for. Why should we have even one family that's completely exclusive to those who have too much spare time? Especially when said family offers something that is always useful, unlike most of the other pet buffs/debuffs: a heal. From the top of my head I can only think one other trait that can never be rendered useless by the rest of the team, and that's the AoE that Chimaeras and Worms possess. And if I may say it, both are rather clumsy thanks to them requiring the pet to be positioned perfectly.

Just cause you tame a spirit beast doesn't mean you have to much spare time

True, but most people don't go to Northrend or Vash'Jr too often, and Magria + Ankha + Ban'Thalos are hard to come by.

Either you have the time and will to camp for one or you're just lucky as hell - neither of which should be required for you to have something so useful.

I'm going to say it again: not everyone wants to camp for a pretty skin the way we do, but that should be no reason to deny them the only Hunter pet in the game whose family skill is never useless.

I do put in the effort, but not everyone has the time or whatnot and perhaps they want to have a pet with that particular function, and the other 38 families do not provide... why can't there be a common for that type of person?

then go to Northrend and tame one of those they seem to be the common spirit beast, they are common enough for people to tame but still have the rare aspect

Yeah spirit beasts are meant to be special both in appearance and functionality - they are uber easter eggs for BM hunters. Putting in the time to get one (or having the luck to stumble across one) should reward you with something *truly* unique, not just something aesthetic.

Spirit Mend is not something that makes a hunter universally superior, and amputating one of those aspects just damages the whole concept, imo.

No thanks.
